WILD DOLPHINS ???? - Hawaii Vlog 5
I pick up my camera and decide to bring everyone along on my holiday vacation to the Aloha State of the United States - HAWAII
In this video, we take a 2-hour road trip journey across the big island to the city of Kailua-Kona. Across 2 days, we go shopping for gifts in the town, do more snorkelling at a beach, where there's was tons of colourful fish! Then finishing off our night by drinking the signature drink of the Hawaiian islands, a Mai Thai!
On the second day, we decided rather then heading back to south point we were going to gamble to see if we could get the chance to see Wild Dolphins swimming in a bay by the captain cook monument. And finishing it all of with another meal in Kona before driving back to Hilo, to catch our flight to LA.
Enjoy :)

Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins, Big Island Hawaii, Beautiful Beach.
Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins
The Hawaiian spinner dolphin, unlike oceanic spinner dolphins, are found close to shore in shallow coves and bays during the day. In these important nearshore habitats, Hawaiian spinner dolphins rest, care for their young, avoid predators and engage in reproductive activities vital to their survival.
The spinner dolphin is named for its unique habit of leaping out of the water and spinning in mid-air. This species tends to travel in large herds of between 10 and 100+ animals.
Hawai‘i’s spinner dolphins feed at night in the open ocean. They feed on organisms that rise toward the surface at night, such as small squid, lantern fish and small hake.
Females reach sexual maturity at 5-12 years of age. Normally, adult females can give birth to a single calf every second or third year. Calves are weaned at 7 months of age or more. Although the maximum age is unknown, the spinner dolphin's lifespan is believed to be over 20 years.

We found two pods, one of 5 and one of roughly 40. Both were incredibly playful and made for a day we will never forget, it was incredible.

Entry:
KONA We were up early. The room service breakfast did not arrive. When we called at around 0650 the covering butler sounds like he forgot. He said he'll deliver it in 15 minutes. We told him to forget it. I was really upset about this. We grabbed a bite at Aloha and took some food for lunch later then went straight to the tender. They did not even check our tender ticket. The tender left around 0730. The Thrifty desk at King Kamehameha Hotel was closed and did not open until 0800. We were the first to arrive and the line got so long quickly. When we went to get our car rental we couldn't find it. It turned out to be at another lot. It was not marked properly on their inventory. We left the hotel around 0830. We arrived at South Point one hour and 20 minutes later then drove another 11 miles on South Point Rd to the boat ramp. This road was paved but narrow and further down it turns to one lane. It hasn't been maintained. The ride was bumpy. It's a good thing we drove a Durango. There was a small car that stopped on the side. Maybe the driver was contemplating whether to go through with it. As we continue heading south, we passed a wind farm and the road forks. We took the road towards the left. Fortunately, the lady in the parking gate in the hotel told us to go left. Otherwise we could have followed the jeep in front of us, made a wrong turn and come back. It would have been a waste of time. We drove until we reached the gate. We stopped and asked a local who was at the boat ramp if we were on the right track towards Green Sand Beach. He said yes and he said we can drive all the way to the beach. We tried to drive passed the gate but the sharp, jagged rocks made it feels like the tire will blow up anytime. I was so scared and made DH turned back. I told him we're violating our car rental agreement. We just parked across the boat ramp next to the small tree where there's a picnic table underneath. We hiked for about an hour and there were misleading trails along the way. You really have to do an extensive research if you plan to visit this place. You can easily get lost. I know what the beach looks like from the pictures that I saw. When I saw the rock wall from afar I knew where we were headed. There were a few people who drove their jeep to the beach. We also saw a mom driving a ford explorer with her little girls. (And I can tell DH was already thinking that he could have done it too). When we finally reached the beach, I was liked, This is it!. The green sand beach was so pretty. It's not really green. It's more like an olive color. To go to the beach you have to go down and going down was challenging. I let DH, DS and DD1 climbed down to the beach. I decided to wait at the top with DD2 who is 7yo. DD2 keeps urging me that we go down and she wants to swim in the beach too. I saw people going to the top front of the beach and climbed down from there easily. So I negotiated with her. If she walk, we go down. I told her I'm not carrying her. She agreed. I called DH and motioned to him that we're going down through the top, fronting the beach. So we walked. DH met us there and assisted DD2 down. I found this trail to be easier. While facing down the beach go towards the right where there were natural footholds and climb down from there. The kids had so much fun body surfing here. There were a lot of people swimming and a few people climbing the left side of the rock wall. We stayed for about an hour and started hiking back. It was hot and windy. The wind cooled us a bit. Definitely use sunscreen. You can easily bake in the sun. Bring lots of water and wear good hiking shoes. DH and ...

Drone captures our escape from a flash flood while hiking in Maui, Hawaii
For the full story:
None of the shots once the river started flooding were intentionally captured or composed. I only operated the drone to keep it high out of the way as I fled to higher ground. I lost sight of the drone several times because my focus was not piloting the drone, it was simply not crashing it while we climbed to safety.
At the end the drone was flown to alert the helicopter of our location, because we received word from our friend back at the road that the helicopter was unable to find us.

Top 5 favorite Hawaii kayaking spots
BY MEGHAN MINER FEB 3, 2015
Hawaii’s waterways are ripe for exploring by kayak—whether you prefer to meander down sleepy waterways through dense green jungle, visit waterfalls, take a leisurely morning paddle through the calm clear waters of a bay, or experience an adventurous jaunt alongside rugged sea cliffs.
#4
Napali Coast
Kauai
One of Kauai’s most popular attractions just isn’t accessible by road. You can fly alongside it, you can hike to it, or, as our Facebook ohana enthusiastically recommends, you can kayak alongside the 4,000 ft. Napali coastline cliffs. It’s a full day and a 20-mile often-choppy paddle between Heana Beach Park and Polihale State Park, but the rewards are worth it. In addition to the sea cliff views, kayakers can also cozy up to waterfalls, explore sea caves, glimpse large, green and remote valleys tucked into the cliff folds from a unique offshore vantage, as well as spot marine life such as turtles, dolphins, and occasionally, rare Hawaiian monk seals.

#3
Hanalei River & Hanalei Bay
Kauai
The Hanalei River starts in the rainy center of Kauai on the slopes of the island’s highest mountain and winds it’s way north past the Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge, home to endangered water birds, and into Hanalei Bay’s eastern side. Many choose to kayak along the sleepy river and out into the bay in the same trip offering the experience of both river and ocean kayaking in the span of a several-mile paddle.

#2
Kailua Bay & Lanikai
Oahu
Kailua Bay and Lanikai are close neighbors on Oahu’s Windward coast (and just south of #5 winner Kaneohe Bay). Less than a mile apart, Kailua and Lanikai both promise crystal, azure waters and reachable offshore islands managed as Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuaries. Kailua Bay’s access at Kailua Beach is within the town of Kailua and the area sports a number of kayak rental shops. From Kailua Beach, it’s easy to explore Popoia (Flat Island), a one-mile round-trip journey from shore. Lanikai’s ocean access lies in corridors between houses in a residential neighborhood, but provides the most direct route to the popular twin Mokulua Islands, both larger than Kailua’s Popoia.

#1
Wailua River
Kauai
Kauai has the only navigable rivers in Hawaii and the eastern-flowing Wailua is undoubtedly the most popular to kayak—it won our Facebook Ohana Poll by a landslide. The river carries little current (it's considered a Class Zero) and the paddle through jungle greenery is an experience easy enough for the whole family. It also helps that there’s a particularly gorgeous spot along the way: The river is the only way to access the trail leading to 100 f.t. Uluwehi (a.k.a. Secret) Falls.
Paddling up the Anahulu (Haleiwa) River from Tsue's Farm (North Shore, Oahu) LookIntoHawaii.com
Fun paddle up the Anahulu River launching from Tsue's Farm in Haleiwa. We took the kayak upstream watched the turtles travel with us. Then we paddled under the iconic Rainbow Bridge.
Finally after our trip, we ate delicious shrim, chicken, and kalua pig plate lunches at Tsue's Farm. A perfect day.

The World's Most Beautiful Beach? -- Lanikai Beach, Oahu, Hawai'i, USA // 242
Today I explored what is referred to as the World's Most Beautiful Beach! It's found on Oahu, Hawai'i. I went to Lanikai Beach today to see for myself what all the hype it about. Yes, it's true, Lanikai Beach is stunning!
Lanikai Beach is located on the southeastern coast of Oahu, Hawai'i. The waters are clear and blue, and the sand is soft and white. There were not many people here when I visited. Most larger groups go to Kailua Beach which is about 1 mile north of, the famed World's Most Beautiful Beach, Lanikai Beach. Kailua Beach is better equipped with restrooms and showers for visitors. Lanikai Beach does not.
Hawai'i has many free things to do and visiting Lanikai Beach was one of my favorites. If you're looking for free things to do in Hawai'i
make plans for a daytrip to Lanikai Beach!
To get there, you can rent a car, take a shuttle, or take TheBus. TheBus is the name of the public transport bus which drives all over Oahu, Hawai'i. I took it several days during my one-week trip in Waikiki so I could explore different corners of the island.
