Château Olivier - 2014 - Pessac Léognan Grand Cru Classé de Graves
Château Olivier - 2014 - Pessac Léognan Grand Cru Classé de Graves tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Dense dark purple colour. Youthful and pure nose showing dark berries, cassis, cherry and tobacco notes with a hint of fine oak. The palate is youthful and rather full, ripe but present tannin, a fresh backbone, juicy dark fruit notes with tobacco notes, well-integrated oak and a long finish. Still needing some time to soften and melt together.

Domaine De Chevalier Espirit de Chevalier Rouge Graves
When it comes to fine wine and collectibles there is nothing that trumps Bordeaux in great vintages. There has been so much hoopla made about how expensive GREAT Bordeaux is that there are many wine drinkers that believe that the best wines of Bordeaux are simply out of their price range and therefore they give up on learning about Bordeaux entirely. the truth is there are still a lot of great values in Bordeaux and even some of the top level wines from GREAT vintages can be acquired for a very reasonable price. Take Domaine de Chevalier for instance, this classified growth can still be found at around $50 even in GREAT vintages like the 2003 on this offering.
Although for those in the know Bordeaux aficionados there is no better value in GREAT vintages like 2000 than the second wines of great properties like Domaine de Chevalier. We just got our hands on a few cases of this Espirit de Chevalier and it is drinking at or near its peak and at a very reasonable price. My first experience with the wines of Domaine de Chevalier was several years ago at the great wine seminar when owner Oliver Bernard presented a span of 25 vintages including a flight of white wines going back over 20 years. I remember thinking- wow the color of these wines look almost identical and the taste was unreal, the old vintages like 1975 were still incredible- to think that you could keep a white wine from Bordeaux equally as long as the red is unheard of for most- maybe that is why the white costs almost double the price of the red!
An Everyday Bordeaux drinking at or near its peak right now!
