The renovation of the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Plant (The Coke Plant) began with the vision of two local entrepreneurs. Three years ago, Ed and Meagan Musselman bought this run down building that once was a hub of Paducah's midtown and was an economic driver of jobs and wealth for the community.
When the almost 43,000 square foot bottling plant shut down during a time of recession, it was a constant reminder of a struggling economy. At the center of our community, it was a visual representation of community hit with layoffs and negative momentum. But the Musselman’s saw opportunity. Beginning with Dry Ground Brewing Company, new life began to flourish in the space and new life for the community. This abandoned building that once brought discouragement to all that passed it, now brought hope and energy to Paducah. Three years later, it is the home to nine businesses that provide jobs to almost 250 people. These businesses include: Dry Ground Brewing Company, Piper's Tea and Coffee, Ochre Art Gallery, The Ice Cream Factory, Mellow Mushroom, True North Yoga, Time on the String, Baptist Health and Socially Present.

Looking back over the past 5 years of Socially Present, we see the incredible friendships we have made, the businesses we've helped to grow, and the shared success of those we've partnered with. President and Owner, Jonas Neihoff, started this business out of his home. Over the years, it has grown into a marketing company with a passion for human connectivity with a soft lens focused on storytelling. The way we asked, What's your story? would later coin us Digital Storytellers. We are a nostalgic little group of creative individuals, proud of our home town. We believe Paducah, Kentucky is on the verge of something truly special. Seeing the shells of these monolithic historical buildings flicker back to life around us does something to our souls. Paducah is not a dying town. It is reviving and thriving. With the Paducah Coke Plant's reopening as Dry Ground Brewing, and a space for businesses to call home, we are proud to say in 2017 we will be throwing our hat in the ring.

[00:00:03] Look at this guy's 17th Street barbecue, Murphysboro, Illinois, not too far from Paducah. We're going to meet that like an hour from Paducah or something like that. Well, make him do this for us every year. Saturday, lunch on Sunday. Come see us. Murphysboro, Illinois. And he is in his second year here or third year for its third year. I've been to a lot of this area and people come here. The beauty of the landscape looks forward to it every year. This has taught me all the hard right here. Lay that we got married back for your very best laid down on put our on right now. KY State BBQ Festival an EATING event. TV Celebrity Pitmasters from BBQ Pitmasters BBQ Pit wars.
[00:01:08] Lay to dressed out 164 pounds. Excuse me if I had to work Voltage to be able to carry all this over. But anyway I'll catch my breath and you reopen. One of the things that we wanted to show you here is they never just go home together. And of course, part of the art of cooking that whole hog is being able to cook it from the snoot to the tail, all one piece and every piece being the right temperature, because you've got the law. The pork chop that runs down through here, you have the bacon and this is the shoulder. The bacon was right in here. Right underneath that is the is. And we'll be able to serve somehow. All of it due to some of the terminology and lot of times is forced on you. Cut that down in the back and we're going to make a win in the act of it fast and able to pull the meat out of a conservative brush point in time. And we had a dry rub and a seasoning. You got smoked meat, that's all it is. And then you make it into a barbecue and we don't inject.
[00:02:31] It's not that I haven't. But as a general rule, we do not inject the meat to have, you know. Right. Gaining more water and or a flavored solution that is put into a lot of times. We try to keep everything as natural as we can. All of our sources, all of our rooms are a natural product. Don't you see that steam coming up off of it? It's got in into the lying area right now, which is actually a book. The ribs, right. That neigh this area right here. Pork chop. But to real this area coming down about four to six inches is a pipe that's going to make it back. Ream is coming on down from there to the sternum all around the belly. That's why it's called spare rib. KY State BBQ Festival an EATING event. TV Celebrity Pitmasters from BBQ Pitmasters BBQ Pit wars.

Fixing a Cracked Foundation in Clarksville, TN | Customer Testimonial
| 1-931-451-1133
Bill B. noticed some cracks in the foundation walls of his Clarksville, TN home. Worried about the structural integrity of his property, he called Frontier Basement Systems for help. Upon inspection, the company's certified foundation repair technician detected a foundation settlement issue, which was causing the basement wall cracks.
To fix that problem, steel piers were driven deep into the ground to a depth where the strata is compact enough to support the building structure. Braces attached to the piers were then used to lift the foundation and, as it was raised back into its original position, the cracks closed and disappeared.
Bill is very happy with the results and the fact that he will never have to worry about his home's foundation again. His house is back on solid ground, for life.
Frontier Basement Systems offers a full range of effective and permanent solutions for all types of foundation problems, and the company's commitment to providing outstanding customer service makes them the most trusted foundation repair company in Nashville, Clarksville, Bowling Green, Jackson, Murfreesboro, Antioch, Franklin, Owensboro, Hendersonville, Lebanon, Columbia and surrounding areas.

Blooming Onion
From POPSUGAR Food
Refrigerate the onion before frying; the breading will adhere more easily.
INGREDIENTS
For blooming onion:
1 large sweet yellow onion, such as Vidalia
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Freshly ground black pepper
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1 gallon corn oil
Salt, to taste
For dipping sauce:
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoons ketchup
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon drained horseradish
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
Cut the top of the onion; place it cut-side down, and, using a sharp knife, make 1/2-inch cuts in a circular motion to create petals. Flip the onion over and, using your hands, begin coaxing apart its layers.
In a large bowl, combine flour, cayenne, paprika, oregano, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Place the onion cut-side down in the bowl, cover with a plate, and shake to coat onion and each petal.
Meanwhile, in a separate medium bowl, mix eggs with milk. Dip onion in egg wash cut-side down; shake off excess egg wash and return onion to flour mixture to coat a second time. Shake off any excess flour.
In a deep-fryer or a heavy Dutch oven, heat oil to 375ºF, adding enough oil so that the entire onion will be able to float.
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine dip ingredients until well-mixed. Set aside.
In the deep-fryer or Dutch oven, add the onion cut-side down in the oil for 2-3 minutes, then carefully flip the onion and allow it to fry for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the batter is golden brown.
Move it to a plate covered in paper towels to drain off excess oil and season with a little salt.
Serve immediately with sauce.
Yield Makes 1 blooming onion

AAS Eclipse Workshop 2017
On 21 August 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will cross the United States from coast to coast, giving tens of millions of people in a 70-mile-wide path from Oregon to South Carolina a chance to see the solar corona and experience all phases of the eclipse. The Moon's shadow will sweep across the country starting mid morning in Oregon with just under two minutes of totality and reaching maximum duration of approximately 2 minutes 40 seconds in Southern Illinois before exiting over South Carolina mid afternoon.
Outside the path of totality, all of North America will experience a partial eclipse. This event, the first total solar eclipse to touch the US mainland since 1979 and the first to span the continent since 1918, presents a unique opportunity to excite people about science and connect them personally to the cosmos, as well as to conduct several important scientific observations. We are a working group dedicated to the science and public outreach of this unique event.
The Eclipse 2017 Workshop IV took place in Carbondale, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday, 10 and 11 June 2016, at the SIU Carbondale Student Center, hosted by Bob Baer and Shadia Habbal.
