Uncovering East Lothian - Dunbar Townhouse Museum | Dig It! TV
Dunbar Townhouse Museum is without a doubt one of the quirkiest locations Dig It! TV has ever explored. Built towards the end of the sixteenth century, this curious building is considered to be Scotland's oldest functioning Council Chamber. Spanning a history of more than 400 years and still in regular use today, there is a story waiting behind every door. In this final episode of our Uncovering East Lothian series, Saga and the team lift the lid on Dunbar's local history and investigate how this building impacted the lives of its townsfolk, from judges to the prisoners they sentenced.
Dunbar Townhouse Museum is open Monday to Sunday between 1 April 2019 and 30 September 2019, and on weekends courtesy of Dunbar and District History Society from 1 October 2018 to 31 March 2019. See details on the East Lothian Museums website.

Scotland Creates: Museum nan Eilean - Do you dare visit?
This film was made by Ruairidh Macleod and Zoee Macinnes, young volunteers at Museum nan Eilean, as part of the Scotland Creates project.
Funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and Creative Scotland, Scotland Creates gives young people aged 16-24 years old the chance to work with five partner museums and other creative organisations. One of the aims of the project is to encourage young people to use technology to connect, collaborate and get creative. So we asked volunteers from each of the five partners to create a short film to promote their museum to other young people.

Places to see in ( Edinburgh - UK )
Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.
Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and one of its 32 local government council areas. Located in Lothian on the Firth of Forth's southern shore, Edinburgh is Scotland's second most populous city and the seventh most populous in the United Kingdom. Recognised as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, Edinburgh is home to the Scottish Parliament and the seat of the monarchy in Scotland. The city is also the annual venue of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and home to national institutions such as the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish National Gallery. It is the largest financial centre in the UK after London.
Historically part of Midlothian, the city has long been a centre of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, Scots law, literature, the sciences and engineering. The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582 and now one of four in the city, was placed 17th in the QS World University Rankings in 2013 and 2014. The city is also famous for the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe, the latter being the world's largest annual international arts festival. The city's historical and cultural attractions have made it the United Kingdom's second most popular tourist destination after London, attracting over one million overseas visitors each year. Historic sites in Edinburgh include Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the churches of St. Giles, Greyfriars and the Canongate, and the extensive Georgian New Town, built in the 18th century. Edinburgh's Old Town and New Town together are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has been managed by Edinburgh World Heritage since 1999.
Situated in Scotland's Central Belt, Edinburgh lies on the Firth of Forth's southern shore. The city centre is 2 1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) southwest of the shoreline of Leith and 26 miles (42 km) inland, as the crow flies, from the east coast of Scotland and the North Sea at Dunbar.[56] While the early burgh grew up near the prominent Castle Rock, the modern city is often said to be built on seven hills, namely Calton Hill, Corstorphine Hill, Craiglockhart Hill, Braid Hill, Blackford Hill, Arthur's Seat and the Castle Rock
Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest and biggest airport and the principal international gateway to the capital, handling around 11 million passengers in 2015. Travel in Edinburgh is undertaken predominantly by bus. Lothian Buses operate the majority of city bus services within the city and to surrounding suburbs, with the most routes running via Princes Street. Services further afield operate from the Edinburgh Bus Station off St Andrew Square and Waterloo Place and are operated mainly by Stagecoach, Scottish Citylink, National Express Coaches, First Scotland East & Perryman's Buses. Edinburgh Waverley Station is the second-busiest railway station in Scotland, with only Glasgow Central handling more passengers.

My visit to Glasgow Cathedral 2nd Feb 2018..0-0
About the Cathedral
The first stone built Glasgow Cathedral was dedicated in the presence of King David I in 1136. The present building was consecrated in 1197. Since that same period the Cathedral has never been unroofed and the worship of God has been carried out within its walls for more than 800 years.
The splendid achievements of the architects and builders of those far off days can be studied and admired. Not everything, however, is old and the Cathedral has one
of the finest post-war collections of stained glass windows to be found in Britain.
e.g. see John K Clark’s Millennium window
The Cathedral has a regular and active congregation, and no visitor should leave the city without making a visit.
Unusually, the church is Crown property and is cared for by Historic Environment Scotland on behalf of Scottish Ministers. Historic Environment Scotland have written a souvenir guidebook, and
provide expert interpretation to help bring the medieval Cathedral to life – after all, this is the best preserved example of a large church to have survived from the medieval period in Scotland
The history of the cathedral is linked with that of the city, and is
allegedly located where the patron saint of Glasgow, Saint Mungo, built his church. The tomb of the saint is in the lower crypt. Walter Scott's novel Rob Roy gives an account of the kirk.
Built before the Reformation from the late 12th century onwards and serving as the seat of the Bishop and later the Archbishop of Glasgow, the building is a superb example of Scottish Gothic architecture. It is also one of the few Scottish medieval churches (and the only medieval cathedral on the Scottish mainland) to have survived the Reformation not unroofed.
James IV ratified the treaty of Perpetual Peace with England at the high altar on 10 December 1502.[1] The cathedral and the nearby castle played a part in the battles of Glasgow in 1544 and 1560.[2] Twenty years after the Reformation, on 22 April 1581 James VI granted the income from a number of lands to Glasgow town for the kirk's upkeep. He traced the ownership of these lands to money left by Archbishop Gavin Dunbar as a legacy for repairing the cathedral.[3] The town council agreed on 27 February 1583 to take responsibility for repairing the kirk, while recording they had no obligation to do so.[4] The church survives because of this resolution. Inside, the rood screen is also a very rare survivor in Scottish churches.
Technically, the building is no longer a cathedral, since it has not been the seat of a bishop since 1690. However, like many other pre-Reformation cathedrals in Scotland, it is still a place of active Christian worship, hosting a Church of Scotland congregation. The current minister (since 15 February 2007) is the Rev Laurence A. B. Whitley, PhD,(Retired 2017) who was previously minister at Montrose Old and St Andrew's Parish Church. The previous minister was the Very Rev William Morris, who was minister from 1967 until retiring in November 2005. The building itself is in the ownership of the Crown, is maintained by Historic Scotland, and is a popular destination for tourists

Robert the Bruce
Robert I (11 July 1274 – 7 June 1329), popularly known as Robert the Bruce (Medieval Gaelic: Roibert a Briuis; modern Scottish Gaelic: Raibeart Bruis; Norman French: Robert de Brus or Robert de Bruys, Early Scots: Robert Brus), was King of Scots from 1306 until his death in 1329. Robert was one of the most famous warriors of his generation, eventually leading Scotland during the Wars of Scottish Independence against England. He fought successfully during his reign to regain Scotland's place as an independent nation, and is today remembered in Scotland as a national hero.
Descended from the Scoto-Norman and Gaelic nobilities, through his father he was a fourth-great grandson of David I. Robert’s grandfather Robert de Brus, 5th Lord of Annandale, was one of the claimants to the Scottish throne during the 'Great Cause'. As Earl of Carrick, Robert the Bruce supported his family’s claim to the throne and took part in William Wallace’s revolt against Edward I of England.

Restoration (2003) - Rescuing Heritage buildings in Britain. Dir. Simon Mansfield
Episode Four of the UK television series dedicated to the preservation of rare and unusual buildings around the UK. This episode's candidates, all in the northeast of England, were Ravensworth Castle near Gateshead, Harperley WW2 prison camp near Durham and Wentworth Woodhouse Conservatory with Stainborough Castle folly near Barnsley.
Other famous locations covered were Hadrian's Wall, Berwick-on-Tweed, Gormley's Angel of the North statue, Alnwick Castle and Dean Clough Mills, Halifax, with a brief nod to the Episode Three contenders, Banchory Sanatorium near Aberdeen, Kinloch Castle on Rhum, and Burra Croft on Shetland. Griff Rhys Jones presented the series. In this episode, contributions were made by the journalist Kate Adie, historian Michael Wood and gardener Rachel de Thame. This was an Endemol Production for the BBC, therefore not my work and only uploaded for your private edification and enjoyment. I rescued the programme from a remarkably well-preserved old VHS cassette.
The sad postscript to this programme is that many of the buildings featured have yet to be secured. Following massive investments, the Wentworth Estate and (in 2013) its conservatory were eventually rescued but failed to operate profitably, resulting in its closure in 2017. Harperley Camp remains largely unrestored but for a very recent effort to restore the theatre building. Despite an ambitious revival project, Ravensworth remains in a ruinous state and on the English Heritage At Risk Register. Banchory Sanatorium was destroyed by fire in 2016.
It has been the smaller and simpler buildings that have fared better; Burra Croft now operates as a small island museum. Kinloch Castle on the isolated Scottish Isle of Rhum was once criticised for its dull external design, yet it may well have been its simplicity that largely preserved its lavish interiors. It continues as a tourist attraction but currently requires significant investment following ownership transfer from Scottish National Heritage to a local Community Trust.

I didn't see a single person with a cowboy hat on my trip to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I had a bit of free time from work so I took a petit trip to the foreign land of Alberta Canada. Calgary hosted the Winter Olympics once upon a time in 1988. It seems to be a growing city.
If you have time please drop by the Glenbow Museum (Art Gallery). As a Vancouver Art Gallery member, I could show my pass for free entry. Thank you.
