Animas River Parade 6-7-2014 in Durango, Colorado
Animas River Days and the annual parade down the river have been a fixture of the Durango community for many years. This year was also the opening of the reworked Smelter Rapids. The Marketing Department staff has combined still photographs and video with the rushing water of the river and the cheering of the spectators as the participants came down the river and entered the rapids. 06:43 pm sure their opinions were heard. ron bodo is here to give his input on lake nighthorse... now that it's built and it's almost full they need to have some type of recreation facility until recently -- the lake was a joint project between the bureau of reclamation and the state of colorado. colorado state parks did pull out in the past because of financial concerns with no money or management -- the bureau is now asking for the public's help to complete the project by holding a series of public meetings to decide how the lake will be used. currently lake nighthorse is two thirds full and the bureau of reclamation hopes to have it filled by the end of 2011...but the lake itself will stay closed until the recreation facility issue is resolved lujan says without a clear plan from the community the lake is in danger of not opening. the biggest concern is not being able to have a community master plan because until there's a recreation plan in place and a recreation manager in place the bureau of reclamation isn't going to open up the lake bodo hopes the
