Guangzhou Travel Yuexiu District Info:
Yuexiu District is one of 11 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, China, located west of the Tianhe District and east of the Liwan District. It is the commercial, political and cultural centre of Guangdong and noted for its high quality education. The Guangdong provincial government and the Guangzhou city government are both located in the Yuexiu District. Established in 1960, the district absorbed the former Dongshan District in May 2005 along with several former subdistricts of the Baiyun and Tianhe district.
Yuexiu is the historic center of the capital of the Nanyue Kingdom. Thirty-three years after the unification of Lingnan under Qin Shi Huang, which forced most of the Yue tribes out of Guangzhou, Yuexiu came under the administration of Panyu County in the Nanhai Commandery. Yuexiu District is named after Yuexiu Hill. Yuexiu was originally the seat of Panyu County until 15 February 1921 when Guangzhou was formally established carving parts of northern Panyu County to create Yuexiu along with Liwan which was eastern part of Nanhai County.
Dongshan in the eastern part of Yuexiu was a former suburb of Guangzhou. It was established as Dongshan District in 1960. On 28 April 2005, it was withdrawn and merged with Yuexiu.

Guangzhou Tianhe Info:
Tianhe District (Chinese: 天河区) is one of the eleven districts of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. In Chinese, the name Tianhe literally means a river in the sky/heavens, which is also a Chinese name for the Milky Way. It is bordered by Yuexiu District on the west, Baiyun District on the north and Huangpu District on the east. Haizhu District is on its south, though they are separated by the Pearl River.
Tianhe became a district in the 1980s as the city expanded its size. Back then, it was east of Dongshan District (which was merged into Yuexiu in 2005) and it was more suburban-like if not rural like. Even though a majority of colleges and universities in the city were located in the district, the rest of the district was mostly composed of rice fields.
Symbolic landmarks of Guangzhou located in Tianhe District are Citic Plaza, Guangzhou International Finance Center, Guangzhou Opera House, and the Guangdong Museum. The 6th and 9th of The National Games of the People's Republic of China and the 2010 Asian Games were also held in Tianhe District, Guangzhou.

Chinese City Review - Beijing
Beijing (formerly romanised as Peking) is the capital of the People's Republic of China and the world's third most populous city proper. It is also one of the world's most populous capital cities. The city, located in northern China, is governed as a direct-controlled municipality under the national government with 16 urban, suburban, and rural districts. Beijing Municipality is surrounded by Hebei Province with the exception of neighbouring Tianjin Municipality to the southeast; together the three divisions form the Jingjinji metropolitan region and the national capital region of China.
A city combining both modern and traditional architecture, Beijing is an ever-changing megacity rich in history but also truly modern, exemplified in its extraordinary global influence in politics, business & economy, education, history, culture, language, music, sporting, architecture, civilization, fashion, art, entertainment, innovation and technology. Beijing is the second largest Chinese city by urban population after Shanghai and is the nation's political, cultural, and educational centre. It is home to the headquarters of most of China's largest state-owned companies, and is a major hub for the national highway, expressway, railway, and high-speed rail networks. The Beijing Capital International Airport has been the second busiest in the world by passenger traffic since 2010, and, as of 2016, the city's subway network is the busiest and second longest in the world, after Shanghai's subway system.
The city's history dates back three millennia. As the last of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, Beijing has been the political centre of the country for much of the past eight centuries. With mountains surrounding the inland city on three sides, in addition to the old inner and outer city walls, Beijing was strategically poised and developed to be the residence of the emperor and thus was the perfect location for the imperial capital. Beijing was the largest city in the world by population for much of the second millennium A.D. The city is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, parks, gardens, tombs, walls and gates, and its art treasures and universities have made it a centre of culture and art in China. Encyclopædia Britannica notes that few cities in the world have served for so long as the political headquarters and cultural centre of an area as immense as China. Beijing has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Ming Tombs, Zhoukoudian, as well as parts of the Great Wall and the Grand Canal, all popular locations for tourism. siheyuans, the city's traditional housing style, and hutongs, the narrow alleys between siheyuans, are common in urban Beijing and are also major tourist attractions. The city hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics and was chosen to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will make it the first city to ever host both events.
Many of Beijing's 91 universities consistently rank among the best in China, of which Peking University and Tsinghua University are ranked in the top 60 universities in the world. In 2015, 52 companies of the Fortune Global 500 company headquarters were located in Beijing, more than any other city in the world, including state-owned enterprises State Grid, China National Petroleum, and Sinopec Group, ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively. Beijing CBD is quickly becoming the center for Beijing's economic expansion, rapid modernization, and radically changing skyline, with the ongoing or recently completed construction of multiple skyscrapers. Beijing's Zhongguancun area is also known as China's Silicon Valley, China's center of innovation and technology entrepreneurship. According to the 2016 InterNations Expat Insider Survey, Beijing ranked first in Asia in the subcategory Personal Finance Index, a measure of expats' salaries versus cost of living in the city. Expats live primarily in the east, in urban districts such as Dongcheng and Chaoyang, or in suburban districts such as Shunyi.
Let's take a proper look at Beijing, the Capital city of China...

Shenzhen Market Outlook
Shenzhen business environment; established sector markets; business development areas; consumer and labour markets; local resources and special programs.
If you're a Canadian SME and have questions about doing business in China, please send us your questions by email at SMEGateway@international.gc.ca.
All services of the Trade Commissioner Service are free of charge to qualified Canadian clients.
Hi, my name is Lesley, and I am the Canadian Trade Office manager in Shenzhen.
Shenzhen is located on the eastern bank of the Pearl River and borders Hong Kong. It has a diverse manufacturing base and serves as an important trading platform between Hong Kong and the mainland.
These links with Hong Kong and its busy international port make Shenzhen a gateway between China’s domestic and international markets.
In its 35 years of development, Shenzhen has grown from a small frontier village to a metropolis with a population of over 14 million. Shenzhen is well known as a dynamic and innovative city. With an average age of 35, Shenzhen’s residents are the youngest in the country. Shenzhen is also famous as a melting pot of Chinese culture, with its diverse migrant population from across the country.
The city is a pioneer in economic liberalization. It is home to one of the earliest and most successful special economic zones in China, and, at roughly 300 billion Canadian dollars, its GDP is the fourth-highest in China.
Shenzhen’s major industries include financial services and foreign trade. Shenzhen’s strong R&D capabilities and connections to global supply chains have allowed the city to become a high-tech leader. High-tech products make up nearly half of Shenzhen’s economy, with a number of global firms such as Huawei, ZTE, Tencent and DJI. The industry also enjoys numerous favourable government policies. Once a company is qualified as a high-tech company, for example, annual business taxes are reduced to 10 percent and it may also qualify for certain government subsidies. Shenzhen’s high-tech parks and incubators offer Canadian SMEs a low-cost entry path and excellent networking opportunities.
Shenzhen is one of the best places in China to do business, but Canadian companies wanting to set up in Shenzhen still need to be well prepared. We strongly recommend visiting the city early on to get a complete picture of how your business fits into the local market, and to find the contact and partners you need to put your business plan into action. In preparing for market entry, you’ll want to access experts who can assist you to navigate the regulatory, legal and business environments. For example, legal experts who can assist you with contract drafting and IP protection, which when properly addressed at the time of market entry can significantly decrease your overall risks. And, like everywhere else in China, you’ll want to spend some time identifying the right local partners. The representative office in Shenzhen can help your business find qualified local contacts and build relationships with key organizations that will help you move your business forward.
Once you’re up and running in Shenzhen, you should plan regular visits to the market to monitor operations and ensure that business activities carried out on behalf of your company are performed to your standards.
Finally, foreign companies may be challenged by the rapid pace of change in Shenzhen. This city is changing constantly! What was true six months ago when you began preparing to enter the market may be quite different now. Shenzhen’s active market means competition is fierce. Canadian companies that want to be successful in this market need to be flexible in adapting to new policies and changing market demands.
And this is where the Canadian Trade Office in Shenzhen can help! We are able to help you build up connections with local contacts, gain market insights, and identify new business opportunities....

Beijing (pronounced /beɪˈdʒɪŋ/ or /beɪˈʒɪŋ/ in English; Chinese: 北京; pinyin: Běijīng, IPA: [pèɪtɕíŋ] ( listen); Wade-Giles: Pei3ching1 or Pei3-ching1) (also known as Peking (/piːˈkɪŋ/ ( listen) or /peɪˈkɪŋ/)) is a metropolis in northern China and the capital of the People's Republic of China. Governed as a municipality under direct administration of the central government, Beijing borders Hebei Province to the north, west, south, and for a small section in the east, and Tianjin Municipality to the southeast.[6] Beijing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.[7]
Beijing is China's second largest city after Shanghai,[8] with more than 17 million people in Beijing's area of jurisdiction. The city is divided into 16 urban and suburban districts and two rural counties;[9] the city's urban area has about 13 million residents.[9] Beijing is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and motorways passing through the city. It is also the destination of many international flights arriving in China. Beijing is recognized as the political, educational, and cultural center of the People's Republic of China,[8] while Shanghai and Hong Kong predominate in economic fields.[10][11][12] The city hosted the 2008 Olympic Games.
Few cities in the world besides Beijing have served as the political and cultural centre of an area as immense as China for so long.[13] The Encyclopædia Britannica describes it as one of the world's great cities,[14] and declares that the city has been an integral part of Chinas history for centuries; there is scarcely a major building of any age in Beijing that doesn't have at least some national historical significance.[13] Beijing is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, and huge stone walls and gates.[15] Its art treasures and universities have long made the city a centre of culture and art in China.[15]
At the heart of Beijing's historical centre lies the Forbidden City, the enormous palace compound that was the home of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties;[94] the Forbidden City also hosts the Palace Museum, which contains imperial collections of Chinese art. Surrounding the Forbidden City are several former imperial gardens, parks and scenic areas, notably the Beihai, Shichahai, Zhongnanhai, Jingshan and Zhongshan. These places, like the Beihai Park are described to be masterpieces of Chinese gardening art,[95] and are popular tourist destinations with tremendous historical importance; Zhongnanhai during the modern era has also been the political heart of various Chinese governments and regimes and is now the headquarters of the Communist Party of China. From the Tiananmen Square, which is located right across the Forbidden City, there are several notable sites, such as the Tiananmen, Qianmen, the Great Hall of the People, National Museum of China, Monument to the People's Heroes, and Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. The Summer Palace and the Old Summer Palace both lie at the western part of the urban city of Beijing; the Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,[96] displays a comprehensive collection of imperial gardens and palaces that functioned as the summer retreat for the Qing Dynasty emperors.
Among the best known religious sites in the city is the Temple of Heaven (Tiantan), located in southeastern Beijing, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site,[97] where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties made visits for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest; located in the opposite direction of the Temple of Heaven at the northern part of the city are the Temple of Earth (Ditan), and the Temple of the Sun (Ritan) and Temple of the Moon (Yuetan), both respectively located in the eastern and western parts of the urban area. Other well-known temple sites located in Beijing include the Dongyue Temple, Tanzhe Temple, Miaoying Temple, White Cloud Temple, Yonghe Temple, Fayuan Temple, Wanshou Temple and the Big Bell Temple. The city also has its own Confucius Temple, and a Guozijian. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was built in 1605, and is the oldest Catholic church in Beijing. The Niujie Mosque is also the oldest mosque in Beijing, with a history over a thousand years old.

CHINA: ASIA'S LARGEST RAILWAY STATION OPENS IN BEIJING
Natural Sound
Asia's largest railway station has opened in China's capital.
20-thousand workers spent three years to build Beijing's 500-thousand square meters (five-point-five (m) million square feet) second station.
Chinese Premier Li Peng attended Sunday's opening ceremony and witnessed the departure of the first train.
The crowds were impatient to see the Beijing's new West Railway Station.
Classified by Chinese officials as Asia's largest railway station, the terminal covers 500- thousand square meters (5.5 million square feet).
China's ministry of Railway said that the total cost of the project after completion is likely to go above the four (b) billion yuan (500 (m) million U-S dollars) first estimated.
Station staff and officials crowded the main entrance hall as Chinese Vice Premier Wu Pang Guo and Premier Li Peng presided the opening ceremony.
Premier Li Peng officially declared the station open by cutting a ribbon in front of a special train embossed with a metal portrait of revolutionary leader Mao Tse-tung on the front.
The train left Beijing Western Railway Station on a ceremonial run to a suburb 20 kilometers (12 miles) to the south.
Real passenger traffic was expected to begin a few hours later.
Officials expect 200-thousand passengers a day to use the station.
It will be also the head of the Dragon - that is, the start point of the new Beijing- Kowloon (Hong Kong) railway.
A subway will link the two capital station together so that passengers can change trains quickly.
The new terminal is seven-point-five times the size of its partner Beijing station - the East Railway Station.
Shopping malls and a hotel are planned to sprout around it as part of the city's development.
But some architects have not been been bowled over by the station - their main criticism is that the architecture style is not very Chinese.

Riding the Hangzhou Metro (China)
The Hangzhou Metro / 杭州地铁 is a metro system that serves Hangzhou and surrounding suburbs. The system opened on November 24, 2012, with major expansion plans still ongoing. It is the 17th city in China to operate a rapid transit system.
There are currently three lines in operation. Line 1 is an arc-shaped line, begins in Xiaoshan, stretches across downtown Hangzhou after crossing the Qiantang River and ends in Xiasha, with a branch line branching off the main line at Coach Center Station and ending in Linping. Line 2 links the Xiaoshan Industrial Park in the southeast with the city center and Xihu District in the northwest. Line 4 complements Line 1 in downtown Hangzhou, stretching in a north-south direction from Pengbu to Puyan.
In January 2009, it was announced that MTR Corporation would invest in a 22 billion-yuan ($3.2 billion) / 25-year / 49% share joint venture with the Hangzhou government to operate Line 1 of the metro.[5]
In December 2016, the state council approved the planning for 10 lines, including extensions to the three existing lines, scheduled to open in time for the 2022 Asian Games. By then the Hangzhou Metro network is projected to be 446 km long.

When U.S. President Richard M. Nixon descended the steps into history on his first visit to China in 1972 only the most prescient of futurist could have predicted the meteoric growth and transformation that the Peoples Republic of China has experienced in the subsequent decades. Beijing has an amazing history exemplified by three of the city’s most impressive historic attractions: Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Early mornings many Chinese start their day with tai chi chuan at the Temple of Heaven, a calm and controlled exercise of the body and mind. The Imperial Palace was off limits to the public for over 500 years and was hence known as the Forbidden City. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is now the Imperial Palace Museum and the largest and best-preserved example of ancient Chinese buildings and culture in China. One of the main entrances is just off Tiananmen Square, the worlds largest public square. Nearby, hutongs (old neighborhoods) still exist surrounded by 20th century progress. The Summer Palace is the largest imperial garden in the world and is a great example of classical Chinese garden architecture. The Great Wall of China was first built in the 7th century as a defense against the Mongolians when China was still divided into many small states and today it still twists and winds along hill crests, gorges, and rivers for thousands of miles. In 1974, a group of peasants uncovered some pottery while digging for a well and accidentally uncovered the remains of one of the greatest archeological discoveries of the century. These artifacts were associated with the Qin Dynasty (211-206 BC) and are now known as the Xi’an Terracotta Warriors. Life-size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations are the star features. One of the most spectacular landscapes in China is Guilin and the Li River with it’s limestone towers and the view from a river cruise through it’s crystal-clear water is outstanding. Nearby Yangshuo City Market is a site to behold with everything very fresh! Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of life, a blending of East and West in a city of diversity where new and old meet at every turn. Symphony of Lights, The Star Ferry, world’s longest open-air escalator, markets and fantastic historical photos taken from Victoria Peak all leave an indelible impression. Hangshou is considered one of the 10 most scenic cities in China and Shanghai, one of the largest urban areas in the world, is recognized as China's most important centre of commerce. A cosmopolitan city buzzing with a 'lifestyle revolution', shown in the architectural temples of art, fine dining and contemporary urban living on the Bund.
