The Amazing England and Scotland Tours 2016.
Great Britain is a tale of three countries – England, Scotland and Wales. Any traveler looking for castles and cathedrals, 'olde' pubs, rolling hills and a sense of history permeating the country won't be disappointed. For a cosmopolian touch visit London and rock and roll fans don’t miss a trip to Liverpool – the home of the Beatles. In Ireland enjoy amazing natural landscapes to explore, with ancient myths and legends waiting for you to uncover. Journey from England’s cosmopolitan capital to Edinburgh, where the city streets have been declared masterpieces of urban planning. Then, pass through the Lake District and Wales en route to the Emerald Isle, where you’ll grab a pint (or a few) with Dubliners before making your way through the beyond-scenic Ring of Kerry and Cliffs of Moher. The United Kingdom (UK) comprises four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Within the United Kingdom, a unitary sovereign state, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have gained a degree of autonomy through the process of devolution. The UK Parliament and British Government deal with all reserved matters for Northern Ireland and Scotland and all non-transferred matters for Wales, but not in general matters that have been devolved to the Northern Ireland Assembly, Scottish Parliament and National Assembly for Wales. Additionally, devolution in Northern Ireland is conditional on co-operation between the Northern Ireland Executive and the Government of Ireland (see North/South Ministerial Council) and the British Government consults with the Government of Ireland to reach agreement on some non-devolved matters for Northern Ireland (see British–Irish Intergovernmental Conference). England, comprising the majority of the population and area of the United Kingdom, remains fully the responsibility of the UK Parliament centralised in London. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not themselves listed in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) list of countries. However the ISO list of the subdivisions of the UK, compiled by British Standards and the UK's Office for National Statistics, uses country to describe England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland, in contrast, is described as a province in the same lists.[5] Each have separate national governing bodies for sports and compete separately in many international sporting competitions, including the Commonwealth Games. Northern Ireland also forms joint All-Island sporting bodies with the Republic of Ireland for most sports, including rugby union. The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are dependencies of the Crown and are not part of the UK. Similarly, the British overseas territories, remnants of the British Empire, are not part of the UK. Historically, from 1801, following the Acts of Union, until 1921 the whole island of Ireland was a country within the UK. Ireland was split into two separate jurisdictions in 1921: Southern Ireland and Northern Ireland. Southern Ireland left the United Kingdom under the Irish Free State Constitution Act 1922.

Scotland's Remembrance Service 2016 - Edinburgh [4K/UHD]
Events to remember servicemen and women who died in conflict are taking place across Scotland.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is attending the annual wreath laying and Remembrance Sunday service at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.
Military chiefs, emergency services and regimental associations also took part in the event, organised by veterans' charity Legion Scotland.
A two-minutes silence took place across the UK at 11:00 GMT.
Wreath laying was held at the Stone of Remembrance outside the City Chambers on the Royal Mile in the Scottish capital.
Ms Sturgeon said: Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for all of Scotland to join with others right across the world and commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts during the last century and more recently.
'Stand together'
Also attending the service in Edinburgh was Scotland Office Minister Andrew Dunlop and president of Legion Scotland, Sir Alistair Irwin.
Mr Dunlop said: It is so important that we remember the servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live freely, and to stand together on Remembrance Sunday to honour them.
Kevin Gray, Legion Scotland's chief executive officer, said: Sadly as time moves on the memories become more and more inherited, so now more than ever is the time to ensure we take time to pause, reflect and remember.

Edinburgh Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Èideann Scots: Edinburgh) is the capital city of Scotland and one of its 32 council areas. Historically part of the county of Midlothian (interchangeably Edinburghshire prior to 1921), it is located in Lothian on the Firth of Forth's southern shore.
Recognized as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, Edinburgh is the seat of the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament and the supreme courts of Scotland. The city's Palace of Holyrood house is the official residence of the monarch in Scotland. The city has long been a centre of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, Scots law, literature, philosophy, the sciences and engineering. It is the second largest financial centre in the United Kingdom (after London) and the city's historical and cultural attractions have made it the United Kingdom's second most popular tourist destination attracting 1.75 million visits from overseas in 2016.
Edinburgh is Scotland's second most populous city and the seventh most populous in the United Kingdom. The official population estimates are 488,050 (2016) for the Locality of Edinburgh (Edinburgh pre 1975 regionalization plus Currie and Balerno), 518,500 (2018) for the City of Edinburgh, and 1,339,380 (2014) for the city region. Edinburgh lies at the heart of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland city region comprising East Lothian, Edinburgh, Fife, Midlothian, Scottish Borders and West Lothian.
The city is the annual venue of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. It is home to national institutions such as the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish National Gallery. The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582 and now one of four in the city, is placed 20th in the QS World University Rankings for 2020. The city is also famous for the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe, the latter being the world's largest annual international arts festival. Historic sites in Edinburgh include Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyrood house, the churches of St. Giles, Greyfriars and the Canongate, and the extensive Georgian New Town built in the 18th/19th centuries. Edinburgh's Old Town and New Town together are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, which has been managed by Edinburgh World Heritage since 1999.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a scientific centre for the study of plants, their diversity and conservation, as well as a popular tourist attraction. Founded in 1670 as a physic garden to grow medicinal plants, today it occupies four sites across Scotland—Edinburgh, Dawyck, Logan and Benmore—each with its own specialist collection. The RBGE's living collection consists of more than 13,302 plant species, (34,422 accessions) whilst the herbarium contains in excess of 3 million preserved specimens.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is an executive non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government.
Dean Village (from dene, meaning 'deep valley') is a former village immediately northwest of the city centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. It was known as the Water of Leith Village and was the centre of a successful grain milling area for more than 800 years. At one time there were no fewer than eleven working mills there, driven by the strong currents of the Water of Leith.

Glasgow/Edinburgh economy vs London
This video highlights the amount of tower cranes in London, relative to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Described by Prof John Robertson of the University of the West of Scotland as 'fresh and intriguing...
Wherever you live in the UK, you might see the occasional construction crane and assume that the local economy is picking up.
Great, I hope it is!
What you might not know about, is the disparity between where you live, and London.
Cranes are a great indicator of economic activity, as explained in this Financial Times article:
For some time, the UK Health and Safety Executive required tower crane operators to register on the HSE database, providing a great snapshot of the building industry.
Yet the database was closed in 2013 as the HSE felt it did little for public or building worker safety...
There are more cranes in London than in the rest of the UK combined!
Watch the video, then tell me your local economy's doing OK.....

EDINBURGH FRINGE RITUALS!
Quick trip to Edinburgh to film my friend Harriet performing at the fringe festival.
Also, a weird ritual in a ruined castle on a hill featuring cabbage and bloody marys.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (often referred to as simply The Fringe) is the world's largest arts festival, which in 2015, spanned 25 days and featured 50,459 performances of 3,314 shows in 313 venues. Established in 1947 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival, it takes place annually in Scotland's capital, in the month of August.
It is an open access (or unjuried) performing arts festival, meaning there is no selection committee, and anyone may participate, with any type of performance. The official Fringe Programme categorises shows into sections for theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events. Comedy is the largest section and the one that in modern times has the highest public profile, due in part to the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, which have launched the careers of many household names of British comedy. The Fringe has often showcased experimental, challenging or controversial works that might not be invited to a more conservative arts festival.[citation needed]
The Festival is supported by the Festival Fringe Society, which publishes the programme, sells tickets to all events from a central physical box office and website, and offers year-round advice and support to performers. The Society's permanent location is at the Fringe Shop on the Royal Mile, and in August they also manage Fringe Central, a separate collection of spaces in Appleton Tower and other University of Edinburgh buildings, dedicated to providing support for Fringe participants during their time at the festival.
The Fringe Board of Directors is drawn from members of the Festival Fringe Society, who are often Fringe participants themselves – performers or administrators. Elections are held once a year, in August, and Board members serve a term of four years. The Board appoints the Fringe Chief Executive (formerly known as the Fringe Administrator or Director), who is currently Shona McCarthy and assumed the role in March 2016. The Chief Executive operates under the chair, currently Professor Sir Timothy O'Shea.
My girlfriend, Amy and I are off travelling in October. I want to document as much as possible.
Our first stop is India, in the mean time here's our summer of antics in the UK.
CLIMBING ARTHUR'S SEAT || EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND || LAST DAY VLOG
This is my last day in Edinburgh and i started my day as usual with my sister from Arthur's Seat and it was quite adventurous trip, after that I had visited Holyrood park and Finally Botanic Garden Let me give you brief detail about my last day's Journey in Edinburgh.
Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano which is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland, which form most of Holyrood Park, described by Robert Louis Stevenson as a hill for magnitude, a mountain in virtue of its bold design. It is situated just to the east of the city centre, about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill rises above the city to a height of 250.5 m (822 ft), provides excellent panoramic views of the city and beyond, is relatively easy to climb, and is popular for hillwalking. Though it can be climbed from almost any direction, the easiest and simplest ascent is from the east, where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch. At a spur of the hill, Salisbury Crags has historically been a rock climbing venue with routes of various degrees of difficulty, but due to hazards, rock climbing is now restricted to the South Quarry and a permit is required.
Holyrood Park (also called the Queen's Park or King's Park depending on the reigning monarch's gender) is a royal park in central Edinburgh, Scotland about 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) to the east of Edinburgh Castle. It is open to the public. It has an array of hills, lochs, glens, ridges, basalt cliffs, and patches of gorse, providing a remarkably wild piece of highland landscape within its 650-acre (260 ha) area. The park is associated with the royal palace of Holyroodhouse and was formerly a 12th-century royal hunting estate. The park was created in 1541 when James V had the ground circulit about Arthurs Sett, Salisborie and Duddingston craggis enclosed by a stone wall.
The RBGE's living collection consists of more than 13,302 plant species, (34,422 accessions)[1] whilst the herbarium contains in excess of 3 million preserved specimens.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is an executive non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government. The Edinburgh site is the main garden and the headquarters of the public body, which is led by Regius Keeper, Simon Milne.

Eden Mill St Andrews 93 Days Oak Aged Whisky Barrel Beer Review in 4K - in Edinburgh, Scotland
Yet again - apologies for the wind noise! This is us checking out a local brew from Eden Mill brewery in St. Andrews, Scotland - this is an oak aged beer, aged 93 days in whisky barrels - website description as follows:
Barrel Aged
Our passion for Whisky crosses with our love for making great beer in our barrel-aged range. We are fascinated with the rich flavours imparted by casks on the carefully crafted brew inside. Our team sources the best casks and barrels, and creates matching styles of beer specifically for this traditional process, which has been used throughout brewing history. The result is a wealth of flavours such as fruity sherry, smooth caramel, and smoky bourbon, which can be found across these exclusive, limited edition beers.
ABV: 6.7%
Cheers!
