EPISODE 3:WINTER VACATION || Cologne, GERMANY (Koln)
Trams in Cologne, Germany - Cologne Stadtbahn
The Cologne Stadtbahn is a light rail system in the German city of Cologne, including several surrounding cities (Bergisch-Gladbach, Bonn, Bornheim, Brühl, Frechen, Hürth, Leverkusen-Schlebusch, Wesseling). The term Stadtbahn denotes a system that encompasses elements of trams as well as an underground railway network (U-Bahn) and interurban rail, even including three lines that are licensed as heavy rail and used by freight trains as well as Stadtbahn vehicles. Two of these lines connect the Cologne Stadtbahn to the Bonn Stadtbahn. These lines (16 and 18) are jointly operated by both cities' transport authorities, resulting in both systems and the lines connecting them sometimes collectively referred to as Stadtbahn Rhein-Sieg. The Cologne Stadtbahn is operated by the Kölner Verkehrsbetriebe (KVB) and the Bonn Stadtbahn is operated by the Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB - City of Bonn Utilities Division). The KVB and SWB are members of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg (VRS - Rhein-Sieg Transit Authority), formed in 1987 to consolidate the transit authorities in the metropolitan Cologne area and operate a joint fare structure. There are 38 underground stations, 4 more are currently under construction.

Haegue Yang: ETA / Retrospective at Museum Ludwig, Cologne
In 2018, the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst am Museum Ludwig in Cologne (Germany) recognizes Haegue Yang for her extraordinary body of work with the Wolfgang Hahn Prize. The Museum Ludwig showcases Haegue Yang's oeuvre in the artist’s first-ever survey exhibition with over 120 works ranging from action-based objects from the 1990s to lacquer paintings, photographs, works on paper, video essays, anthropomorphic sculptures, performative pieces, and large-scale installations.
The abbreviation ETA stands for “estimated time of arrival,” among other things. Thus, the exhibition title points to an artistic career in transit and the constant itineracy of an artist who maintains studios in Seoul and Berlin and has exhibited internationally since 1994.
With her diverse oeuvre, Haegue Yang adeptly avoids clear attributions. Her works demonstrate elements of Institutional Critique and are conceptual as well as rich in cultural and historical references, while simultaneously sensually complex and emotionally charged. Across over 1500 square meters of exhibition space, this comprehensive retrospective’s spatial scenography will echo the conceptual dynamics of the works, lending the exhibition the quality of a Gesamtkunstwerk—harmonious yet full of dissonances.
Haegue Yang: ETA, 1994–2018, Wolfgang Hahn Prize 2018. Award ceremony and opening, April 17, 2018.

How To Choose The Right Cologne & How To Apply Men's Scents & Fragrance - Gentleman's Gazette

So how should you pick the right Cologne?
#cologne #menscologne #notsponsored
Understand ingredients.
Most colognes consist of multiple different fragrances water and alcohol to create something that is harmonious and flattering. Traditionally, essential oils would be used to add the sense to the Cologne. Well-known essential oils include lavender rose bergamot and sandalwood for example. Personally, I'm also a big fan of lemongrass and unfortunately, most manufacturers will not list the essential oils on the ingredients list because they want to keep the secret recipe.
I suggest you understand the fragrance wheel, there are many different variations. Scents are categorized into floral oriental fresh and woody sometimes also in aromatic. Ultimately, this is just a graphic and if you haven't smelled any of this before, it won't be of any help, however, once you've found colognes that you like and you've analyzed what is in them, this can help you find related colognes that you might also like. Ultimately, you want to narrow down the selection of potential favorites for you by using the wheel. For a more detailed look at the fragrance wheel, please head over to our website here.
Before you buy cologne, it's essential to sample it in person.
Everyone's perception of smell is different, on top of that, it's essential that you smell a cologne for at least 30 minutes, ideally up to an hour individually, before you decide on buying it. So why do I have to wait 30 minutes to one hour if I can smell the Cologne right away, you might wonder? Well actually, it all comes down to understanding the fragrance pyramid.
Basically, a cologne consists of base notes, hurt notes, and top notes. The top note is the most volatile of the three, meaning it evaporates most quickly and it's what you can typically smell when you spray the Cologne onto your arm or onto a test or strip. Oftentimes, it's described as fresh or assertive or sharp and it's never on its own because you also have elements of the heart note and a base note that go into it's perception. That being said, I always suggest to test the Cologne on your skin and never just on a tester strip because your natural odor impacts the way you and others perceive that scent. The heart notes or the middle notes are about to appear strongly when the top note disappears which is generally about 20 minutes in. Typically, the notes are more round or mellowed compared to the top notes and it can last all the way up to an hour. bass notes on the other hand are the least volatile component and are often perceived as rich or heavier. It typically takes at least 30 minutes to release those base notes. In the beginning, they're overlaid by the heart notes and so that's why you want enough time with a cologne so you can truly experience what it smells like and how the sense develops over time. Even you might enjoy a scent right out of a bottle, you may actually not end up liking it at all 30 minutes in.
So how do you apply Cologne?
First of all, I think it depends on the strength of the Cologne so that it is stronger has to about differently than something that is very light. When in doubt, always use less.
In recent years, layering of colognes has become a trend.
I personally am more of a purist, I think it's best to go with that one scent because it already consists of many aromatic fragrances paired with your skin and what you eat it really is enough.
You can take into consideration the environment you're in, the season, as well as the type of your skin, so you find something that truly works for you and that's flattering. Stay tuned for the final video in this series about Cologne do's and don'ts.

Arado @ Heinz Gaul, Cologne, Germany - 23.07.17
Excellent impression of the performance of Arado in Heinz Gaul; Cologne; excellent energy, good techno and an amazing crowd! Thank you!
About Arado:
Sometimes it only takes a single release to set an artist on a tumultuous path. Arado’s adventure begins as such with his debut release in autumn 2009. From Desolat he takes the “Uganda Express” whose Wild-Pitch not only sent him straight on the playlists and charts of major issuing music DJs furthermore it turned out to be an one way ticket to an international DJ career. After a few stopovers on Area Remote, Allin and Dame Music he is headed for Moon Harbor and he shoots again for the stars with „Strange Neighbors“ The scene and press both agree on the fact that house made in Germany has never sounded so mondial like with Arado. This is verified by Arado’s following releases on Cecille, Etruria and Italy’s on the rise label Moan Recordings and Remixes for Pascal FEOS, Martinez, Marco Faraone, Yaya, Tom Flynn, Oliver Klein and Bunten Bummler.
Constantly developing grooves and deepness grabbing ahold with artful
placed elements of surprise is not only the character of his productions Arado also brings it to the decks. The charismatic DJ from the Rhineland demonstrates this as he tours the world side by side with the leading DJ elite. Once infected with the Arado bug it’s nearly impossible ever to recover. With amazing shows at places where he is known the best are Extrema (BE), Thaibreak, WMC (Miami) and Sonar (Barcelona). At Open Airs such as Kiesgrube (Neuss), Woodstock69 (NL), Pollerwiesen (DE) and on the worlds best party island Ibiza where he plays at Space and Sankeys. You can also find him often at Frankfurts Cocoon Club, Café D’Anvers (NL), Tenax (IT) and in New York. No matter where his journey may take him Arado will never lose sight of his home base the 102 Club in Neuss. His residency allows him on a regular basis back to his native party haven were Arado is well known for celebrating excessive sets way past the crack of dawn.
Keep an eye on Arado as he will soon be coming to sound system near you!
