Elvis Presley’s Palm Springs Homes | Honeymoon House | Celebrity Homes and Getaways
In this video I visit the famous Honeymoon Hideaway house where Elvis Presley and Priscilla lived and spent the first few days after their wedding. I also visit his home on Chino Canyon Road which he owned for seven years right up until his death. I’m joined in this video by the ever knowledgeable Steve The Graveyard Guy, the perfect companion for a tour of Palm Springs.
Elvis Presley married his bride Priscilla after years of courtship in Las Vegas on May 1st, 1967 and soon flew to the California abode, which he had leased for a year for the sum of $21,000. Elvis carried his bride over the threshold and up the home's stairs singing Hawaiian Wedding Song from his film Blue Hawaii. They spent two days there before flying to Memphis. As the website for tours of the home, known as the Honeymoon Hideaway, proudly states, the couple's daughter, Lisa Marie, was born exactly nine months later in February of the following year. Elvis was so taken by Palm Springs he later bought a house there in another part of town. In April 1970, Elvis and Priscilla decided to purchase their own house in Palm Springs at 845 W. Chino Canyon Road. They put $20,000 as a down payment and financed $85,000 for a total purchase price of $105,000. The home was originally built in 1946 by renowned architect Albert Frey for the Jergens family, known for their skincare products. In 1960, Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald’s Corporation, purchased the home. When Elvis bought the house located on a 1.75-acre lot, it was 3,500 square feet. After Elvis and Priscilla got divorced in 1973, Elvis expanded the house with an additional 1,500 square feet. By 1974, Elvis had added a party room with checkerboard flooring, a sauna, a new bedroom with red carpet and two bathrooms with red and white tile.

Visiting Frank Sinatra's Former Palm Springs, CA Home
Frank Sinatra's former Palm Springs estate was designed by architect E. Stewart Williams and built in 1947. The mid-century modern Palm Springs home is now an historic site, but from 1957 through 1997, it was the home of our family friends, Hugh and Maureen Young. Watch the video for my personal story about Frank Sinatra's former home. If you're a Frank Sinatra fan or a fan of mid-century modern architecture, please leave a comment in the comment section below.
USA: FRANK SINATRA TO BE BURIED IN PALM SPRINGS
English/Nat
Frank Sinatra may have been born in New Jersey but he will be laid to rest on the other side of the United States - in Palm Springs, California.
He spent much of his later years in the hot desert resort town, and most residents seem sad that their Mr. Palm Springs is no longer with them.
Admirers are showing their affection for the man with wreaths, bouquets and vases of flowers placed alongside his star on Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
Hoboken, New Jersey may be his birthplace but for the residents of Palm Springs, California, Frank Sinatra was their favourite son.
The hot desert resort town was a frequent haunt of The Chairman of the Board.
Residents have marked his passing by showering his star on the Palm Springs Walk-of-Stars with bouquets, wreaths and momentos including an empty martini glass and burning candles.
Residents and tourists alike are bracing for the media onslaught that is sure to accompany his burial.
Reports already indicate a fierce battle is underway among family members and Barbara Sinatra over the estimated two hundred (m) million U-S dollar Sinatra estate.
The late entertainer's business empire comprises music publishing, a beer wholesaler, expensive real estate holdings and a mint of recording royalties.
As tourists and residents stop and admire the impromptu sidewalk shrine, people are reflecting on what Sinatra's passing means.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It makes me very sad every time I hear his music I want to cry. He's a real legend.

SOUNDBITE: (English)
I'm sad I think it's a loss. Just like when we lose any entertainer we get a pleasure out of watching or listening to, the John Wayne's, the Jimmy Stewart's, the Lee Marvin's, the Broderick Crawford's, they're all gone. We haven't really had that type of actor or singers to replace them nowadays.
SUPERCAPTION: Steve Kiefer, Palm Springs shop owner
But some Palm Spring's residents don't share the adulation.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Frank Sinatra was a punk. He did a lot of things that weren't nice. Including years ago there was a bar here called the Dollhouse, and if they didn't have his record on the jukebox, he'd trash the place. He went nuts. So, he did a lot of things that weren't cool.
SUPERCAPTION: Allen Panick, Palm Springs resident
Like anyone, Sinatra's death is felt worst by friends and Palm Springs folk who came to know him personally.
At Sorrentino's, an Italian restaurant frequented by Sinatra over the years, they are planning to place a plaque on the bar in front of the stool he usually used.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
So I can remember when newlyweds were in here one day and they got all excited when they saw him, he just went and gave them a hundred dollar bill and said, 'Have a nice honeymoon.' I think the myth of him being a scary guy was just a myth.

One large beneficiary of the Sinatra estate could be a cause near to Barbara's heart.
The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center in Rancho Mirage, which aids abused children, is reportedly in line to receive between 70 and 150 (m) million U-S dollars.
And not far away, Old Blue Eyes will be laid to rest in the family plot in this serene and simple cemetery.
The family says Sinatra will be escorted to his grave by a military honour guard because he received both the Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal.
A private vigil for Sinatra will be held on Tuesday night at a church in Beverly Hills.
Sinatra's private funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Elvis Presley Former Palm Springs Home Mortgage Foreclosure & Eviction
On Feb 17, 2013, the former home of Elvis Presley here in Palm Springs, California was foreclosed upon and the current owner, Reno Fontana and family were evicted. The former Presley estate at 835 W. Chino Canyon Rd was the home of the King here in California from 1970-until his death.
It is unclear what the future is of this property, and whether the public will be forever shut out of this historical Elvis home. The Fontana's lawyer state that there will be an attempt to repurchase this property again and develop it into a sort of Graceland West.
In the meantime, the property has red No Trespassing foreclosure signs in the window and remains vacant. The iconic steel Elvis profile that has hung on the chimney is now gone. Elvis has left the building, in spirit, at least, again.
This home was the only home other than Graceland, owned by Elvis Presley at his death. Elvis spent his last birthday here, and usually spent close to 3 months a year at this home from 1970 until his death on August 16, 1977.
