STREET FOOD IN ITALY | ROME street food tour | What to eat in Rome
We're in Rome, Italy! In this 3 part series we're exploring Italy's capital city to hunt down the best local food. Rome has a distinct cuisine- one based on nose to tail eating, punchy bold flavours and fresh ingredients prepared simply.
This is our first video from Rome and it's all about Rome street food! We start the day with one of Rome's most popular street foods: the suppli. A breaded, deep fried rice ball made up of risotto rice cooked in a rugu and stuffed with a blob of mozzarella- these things are addictive! Next up we hunt down some delicious pizza from pizza bianca (white pizza) to pizza al taglio (by the slice)- we find some stellar versions. Next up, gelato! One of the ultimate sweet Roman street foods! Not all gelato are made equal so we hunt down a gelateria which prepares every single ingredient for their gelato onsite from roasting the nuts to peeling and pulping the fruit. This gelato is next level and really popular with the locals. We finish up at one of Rome's institutions- a restaurant that serves only one thing: fried salt cod. If you're not eating in, head to the back of the restaurant and order a filet of fried salt cod to takeaway directly from the kitchen and enjoy it on the streets of Rome.
We hope you enjoyed this Italian food video, thanks for watching! #italianfood #romefoodtour #rome

Rome, is the capital of Italy and the country's largest and most populated city and comune, with over 2.7 million residents in 1,285.3 km2 (496.3 sq mi). The city is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, on the Tiber River within the Lazio region of Italy.
Rome's history spans two and a half thousand years. It was the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, which was the dominant power in Western Europe and the lands bordering the Mediterranean for over seven hundred years from the 1st century BC until the 7th century AD. Since the 1st century AD Rome has been the seat of the Papacy and, after the end of Byzantine domination, in the 8th century it became the capital of the Papal States, which lasted until 1870. In 1871 Rome became the capital of the Kingdom of Italy, and in 1946 that of the Italian Republic.
After the Middle Ages, Rome was ruled by popes such as Alexander VI and Leo X, who transformed the city into one of the major centers of the Italian Renaissance, along with Florence. The current version of St Peter's Basilica was built and the Sistine Chapel was painted by Michelangelo. Famous artists and architects, such as Bramante, Bernini and Raphael resided for some time in Rome, contributing to its Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
In 2007 Rome was the 11th-most-visited city in the world, 3rd most visited in the European Union, and the most popular tourist attraction in Italy. The city is one of Europe's and the world's most successful city brands, both in terms of reputation and assets. Its historic centre is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Monuments and museums such as the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are amongst the world's 50 most visited tourist destinations (the Vatican Museums receiving 4.2 million tourists and the Colosseum receiving 4 million tourists every year). Rome hosted the 1960 Summer Olympics and is currently bidding to host the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Italy Travel - Rome, Still Exploring!
A brief stop in Rome, once again. This time we visit some less-known sights including several churches. You don't need to be a Christian, or even religious, to appreciate the marvelous architecture.
Santa Maria sopra Minerva is practically the only surviving Gothic monument in Rome. With it's star-filled ceilings and great art, (Michelangelo created the beautiful sculpture of Christ with the Cross), you can spend an hour in here just to enjoy some peace.
Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martir is an incredible sanctuary designed by Michelangelo himself within ancient Roman ruins - the Baths of Diocletian.
The Papal Basicilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is the original Vatican or church of the Pope. It was built over a Roman temple too, in 432 ad, and the design is based on the Roman Imperial style.
Naturally, we had to visit St Peters once again. Though always impressive we were struck this time by the staged design - - faux-painted marble, over-sized everything, mosaics for paintings (a maintenance consideration). But... there is amazing design work and several authentic art pieces including Bernini's unbelievable high alter piece, and of course, the Pieta by Michelangelo.
Other churches offer the best Baroque architecture in Rome, and unique architectural characteristics.
You'll also find pictures of the Pantheon, (Temple for All Gods), built by the Romans in a Greek style, and considered to be one of the key-stones of architecture.
The Ponte Sant'Angelo is the connection between old Rome and the Vatican and is worth a casual stroll. (The related Castelo Sant'Angelo is shown in other TravelFlix adventures.)
We also visit the Largo di Torre Argentina, (wonderful ruins in the middle of the old district), and a few other sights.
Here are some of the specific details, (not all are shown in this short video):
Campo di Fiori
Undeveloped until 15th century, (flood zone),
Unplanned, never formalized to proper piazza,
Significance is historical, not architectural.
Palazzo Farnese
1517 Antonnio da Sangallo, improved by
Michelangelo, Vignola, Giacomo dell Porta
Monumental High-Renaissance palace.
Also: Fontana di Piazza Farnese
Palazzo della Cancelleria
Largo di Torre Argentina

Hadrian 126 ad. Best preserved Roman
monumental building influenced Bernini,
Brunelleschi, Palladio, etc.
Temple of Hadrian
145 ad, reconstructed periodically,
used as Papal palace in 17th century,
now occupied by bank, conference center
Sant'Ignazio

ROME ITALY | The ETERNAL CITY (First Day)
As my birthday trip this year, my boyfriend and I visited Italy. It is my first visit to the eternal city of Rome and I instantly fell in love. I have always been fascinated to its interesting history. Seeing Rome was like a dream for me. In the past years, I only watched documentaries about the ancient Rome and its majestic monuments. Chano have visited 32 countries and multiple cities but Rome is still his favourite. He spent many hours in preparing the itinerary because he wanted me to enjoy Rome as much as he did. During the entire trip, he shared to me his knowledge about the architectures, monuments, every statues, streets, people and culture of the city.
I am so glad to share with you my experience and I hope that you will enjoy watching it.

Hello world! Long story short, this vlog is from my trip to Italy back in August 2015. I thought I had lost all my footage from this day; come to find out, all my video from this day was in the wrong folder on my laptop.
Anyways, this video is about my visit to the smallest country in the world, the #Vatican City. My family and I were able to see Pope Francis during the Sunday mass at St Peter's Square, St. Peter's Basilica and hung out by the #Pantheon at night to wrap up this fantastic trip to #Italy.
Hope you enjoy the views from the streets of Rome, St. Peters Square, and inside the St Peter's Basilica.

A Trip through The Roman Colosseum in Rome Italy March 15, 2011
For Spring Break I went on a spontaneous trip to Rome Italy. I booked the flight and a hotel across Termini station three weeks before. I had zero itinerary. All I had was the love of travel and adventure to steer me through. I landed in Rome on Sunday March 13th. On Tuesday March 15th I spent the entire day at The Roman Colosseum and The Roman Forum. I'll never forget when I saw the Colosseum as I walked out of the Colosseo Metro Station for the first time. An amazing experience in itself. Sorry for the dirty lens on my camera. I didn't realize it at the time. Enjoy!
