Kusadasi Turkey Vlog | What to do in Kusadasi (Ephesus, Knossos & More!) // If you're interested in seeing the ancient city of Ephesus or if you're planning on visiting Kusadasi Turkey, then watch this vlog to get a sneak peek at what you'll see when you arrive!
Back in June, Laura Reid and I had the chance to visit Kusadasi. It happened to be one of the stops on our Celestyal cruise trip with Discover Greece! Although we were only in Kusadasi Turkey for a short time, we really got the chance to experience the best parts of the city. Ephesus was by far one of the most impressive sites we visited in all of Greece and Turkey combined and is definitely worth seeing if you have the chance! If you're looking for what to do in Kusadasi, or the best things to see in Kusadasi, this video will help you decide!

Ephesus Ruins Of The Ancient World - Kusadasi Turkey Excursion From Cruise Ship Terminal In Kusadasi
Ephesus Turkey / Kusadasi Turkey Excursion To Ancient Ruins
Ephesus is considered to be the most important Archaeological Site in Turkey. Founded over 3,000 years ago, Ephesus has a long history of invasions and disasters it has survived but what finally put an end to this once great city of the Ancient World is shallow water when the river and port silted up. Now the nearest port is over 6 miles away.
Ephesus was also home to one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, the temple of Dianna, said to rival the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Great Pyramids in Egypt.
Today Ephesus is a popular cruise port destination for major cruise lines with the greatest attractions being the ruins of Ephesus and the Virgin Mary's home purported to be where the Virgin Mary spent the remainder of her years. If you're going to Mary's House in hopes of seeing Jesus' old room you may be disappointed but still the stone cottage is well worth a visit. As part of the tour you are given a souvenir vessel to fill with water from the springs that still run outside the Ancient cottage.
The port of Kusadasi where the cruise ships stop is a modern and lively seaside resort with numerous restaurants, shops and attractions along the waterfront. Having never been to Turkey, we didn't know what to expect but we came away very impressed with everything we saw. Kusadasi is very clean, friendly and we only wished we had more time to enjoy the city.

Wheelchair Accessible Ephesus Tour from Kusadasi Cruise Port

Hi! In this 4 minute video I will try to explain what you can expect from an Accessible Tour of Ephesus from Kusadasi Cruise Port
In the picture the arrows show the exact points where you will meet with your tour guide that would be only a Hundred yard distance from your Cruise Ship and also where you can find the accessible restrooms at the Port Premises and where you will meet with your accessible vehicle which is about 200 yards of walking distance from the cruise ship
And once you meet with your vehicle you will enter from it’s rear door where we have the electric lift and once you’re inside the vehicle your wheelchair will safely be fixed to the floor of the van with tie-downs for a safe and comfy ride which will be around 40 minutes.
Ephesus Ancient city has two entrances, we prefer the lower entrance for accessibility issues.
The admission fee to the site is around 12USD/person.
Admission will be free of charge for Visitors in wheelchairs and their caretakers in case the disability of the person is visible or with the presentment of an ID stating the disability.
Make sure to carry some sort of an ID that indicates the Physical disability it could be driver’s license or doctor’s report.
Right after we enter the site from it’s lower entrance there will be a Six hundred feet long path paved with cobblestone which causes a slightly bumpy ride for wheelchairs.
And at the end of this path there will be a Thirty feet long slope with a Twenty five degree angle steepness. This slope will lead you towards the Harbor Street.
The Harbor Street has a fairly flat surface paved with smooth marble.
There will be a Twenty feet long ramp with a fifteen degree angle which will lead us towards the theater.
Although we do not recommend this but if you have an electric wheelchair and determined enough you may even be able to make your way into the theater.
After the Harbor Street and the Theater, we will be heading towards the main highlights of the city, The Library.
There will be a Seven hundred feet long slightly challenging but still doable path through the Ancient Market Place towards the Library. The path is paved with Wooden Railroad Ties which are laid horizontally.
Because of the Horizontal positioning and half an inch wide space left between these logs the ride will be fairly bumpy for the wheelchairs.
There is an alternate path to this which is a 300 feet long path with half an inch size pebble stones with a 5 degree inclining angle.
And the final destination for the wheelchair accessible portion of the city will be the area where the Library is located.
There will be fairly uneven and steep surface paved with marble slabs.
There is a Twentyfive feet long ramp with an eighteen degree angle for accessing from the one part of the Library to where some other highlight attractions such as Gate of Hadrian and the Temple of Hadrian which are very picturesque.
And the return journey will be from the Marble Street which is fairly doable with a smoothly paved flat marble surface.
Another attraction of this tour is the Indoor Museum located 3 miles from Ephesus.
This attraction is %100 wheelchair accessible with a flat and smooth surface and wheelchair accessible restrooms available.
Another optional attraction is the Mother Mary’s House located 5 miles away from Ephesus, takes 20 minutes to drive.
The path towards the Chapel is paved with concrete blocks with space in between hence the uncomfortable ride for wheelchairs.
And the Chapel’s entrance door is 35 inches wide and a 3 inch step right after the first 5 foot entrance hallway to the chapel.
The only wheelchair accessible portion is the outdoor yard of the Chapel where the candles are lit.
And also the Holy Spring where people also make wishes and hang on the wishing wall.
There are no wheelchair accessible restrooms at Mother Mary’s House.
After the tour the ride back to Kusadasi will take another half an hour and you will be dropped off at the entrance gate to the Cruise Port which will be only 200 yards distance to the cruise ship. And this place is also considered as the downtown market where you can find the main bazaar and the shops.

EXPLORING the historic city of EPHESUS (EFES, ΕΦΕΣΟΣ), a complete tour (TURKEY)
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit Ephesus (Greek: Ἔφεσος Ephesos; Turkish: Efes) which was an ancient Greek city[ on the coast of Ionia, three kilometres southwest of present-day Selçuk in İzmir Province, Turkey. It was built in the 10th century BC by Attic and Ionian Greek colonists. During the Classical Greek era it was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League. The city flourished after it came under the control of the Roman Republic in 129 BC.
The city was famed for the nearby Temple of Artemis (completed around 550 BC), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.[6] Among many other monumental buildings are the Library of Celsus, and a theatre capable of holding 25,000 spectators.
The ruins of Ephesus are a favourite international and local tourist attraction, partly owing to their easy access from Adnan Menderes Airport or from the cruise ship port of Kuşadası, some 30 km to the South.
