DEER DANCE at Esashi-Fujiwara Summer Festival
Hit that LIKE button!
I've been to Esashi-Fujiwara Heritage Park in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Definitely recommended that you give it a visit especially during the first half of August.
The DEER DANCE that is performed in this video is a part of an event called Hyakushika Daigunbu. At the end of it, 100 dancers put on a special performance of a popular folk dance in the northeast of Japan.
P.S: I used my Nikon 1 J5 to shoot the videos and photos in this video.
Apologies for some of the camera noise.

Oshu TABI ROMAN #02~Having Fun at Esashi FUJIWARA-NO-SATO During the Second Half of Golden Week~
【explanation】
Introducing the highlights and some events during the second half of Golden Week at Heritage Park: FUJIWARA-NO-SATO.
【narration】
You can have a lot of fun at Esashi FUJIWARA-NO-SATO during the second half of Golden Week.
There are lots of events you can enjoy with your family and close friends.
I am Miss Takabayashi from Esashi FUJIWARA-NO-SATO.
Today, I am going to show you some of what we have to offer.
Esashi FUJIWARA-NO-SATO is a theme park where you can learn about the great achievements of the OSHU-FUJIWARA Clan and experience the historical culture of Tohoku from ancient times through the Middle Ages.
The park encompasses about 20 hectares, with a little more than 120 buildings reproduced.
First off is the building you can see behind me, the SEICHO (Government Hall).
The SEICHO is where government and other important ceremonies were held.
This vermilion lacquered building is a reproduction of a building from around the 12th century.
This is the KYARA-NO-GOSHO, a reproduction of where Prince Fujiwara-no-Hidehira lived.
This shows the architectural style known as SHINDEN-ZUKURI (like that of a shrine).
Leaving the SEICHO from the South Gate, you can find a wide OJI (avenue).
It is often used for locations in movies and TV shows.
There are many other displays within the park that subtly reveal the glory of the OSHU-FUJIWARA Clan.
You can have fun in the park's HEIAN-NO-YAKATA (Hall of Peace) with original works of trick art.
We have some events planned.
The BAKUSHO! O-WARAI LIVE (Comedy Live) will be held on May 4.
Three wonderful acts, including Masami Yamamoto, winner of the 2014 R1 Grand Prix, are in the line up.
A SORE IKE ANPAN MANshow will be held on the 5th.
Please come join us at Esashi FUJIWARA-NO-SATO during the second half of Golden Week.
We look forward to your coming.

【narration】
A million yen for a box of apples!
The first auction for the “Sun-fuji” brand of Esashi apples, held at Morioka Chuo Wholesale Market went for an surprisingly high price.
“Esashi apples” are a premium brand among apples. This is an opportunity to meet producers surrounded by apples and play some games.
The Esashi Apple Festival will be held Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th at Esashi Fujiwara-no-Sato.
First, some of the special prices on goods.
There will be the Esashi Apple Competition, Exhibition and Sales, as well as a sale of “Apples not quite up to par” by Esashi apple growers, and sales of manufactured goods and special products from Esashi.
Next up in an event that everyone should try.
It is the “Esashi Apple” Peeling Competition.
This competition is to see how long you can stretch out your peel.
A rock-paper-scissors contest.
Play rock-paper-scissors with Jona-kun. Winners will receive apple juice.
There will also be a true or false quiz about Esashi apples. There are prizes for those with high scores.
On day 2 there will be MOCHI-MAKI (throwing out rice cakes).
You have all heard the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
There is a research report on the effects of anthocyanin, found in apples, at preventing cancer.
And they are chock full of dietary fiber.
It sounds like eating apples every day is good for health and beauty.
Let’s have fun with the apple events, eat a lot, and get through the cold winter months.

Gokusui no En ( Winding Stream Festival ) ( Hiraizumi Town )
An elegant poetry contest from the Heian period ( from about the 8th to the 12th century ) is reenacted in this festival at the Pure Land Garden of Motsuji, held on the 4th Sunday of May. Following the opening and announcement of the poetry topic, the Young Woman Dance ( Jakujo ) of the Ennen no Mai longevity rites is performed. Sitting by the feeder stream for the temple garden's pond, participants clad in Heian-style costumes compose poetry before a floating cup of sake reaches them, after which they take a sip from the cup. During the contest, there are elegant entertainments such as a traditional musical performance on a boat. Finally, the master of ceremonies reads the poems aloud, and this graceful event comes to a close. Like the floating sake cups, time seems to flow slowly and gracefully in this festival.
