Russian plane crash conspiracy theories: Seriously?
The Russian passenger jet that was brought down by terrorists over Egypt's Sinai peninsula, is back in the headlines. A conspiracy theory surrounding the attack has emerged with some suggesting that Vladimir Putin orchestrated the killing of Russian tourists. Serious news outlets are giving the idea serious consideration. Something that didn't happen with the most-famous previous example of terror-related conspiracy mongering.

Why Planes Don't Fly Over Kaaba
Ever wondered why airplanes would not always fly in a straight line from one point to another? After all, they’re in the air, what could possibly stop them? Well, there are plenty of reasons for that, and while some are common, others might be harder to explain.
Did you know, for example, that planes can't fly over Paris? It seems surprising that the capital of France, despite having four airports within its city limits, has prohibited airspace but it's true! Moscow is another big city over which all flights were prohibited from the 1960s. However, in 2013, a new law was issued that finally allowed commercial airplanes to cross the sky over the Russian capital. Let's find out what the reasons are!

SUMMARY:
- There’s no airport in Mecca, which makes it illogical for airplanes to fly over the city. This may sound strange, given that Mecca is visited by dozens of millions of people every year, but the Saudi Arabia government is strict in this regard.
- The ban to fly over Machu Picchu has been in place since 2006. The government of Peru doesn’t allow any aircraft to approach the important historical site exactly because of its historical importance, as well as the unique wildlife in the area.
- If you’ve ever been to Paris, you’ve probably smirked now because you’ve seen commercial planes there. There’s an exception, you see: airplanes can only fly no lower than 6,500 ft high.
- Cuba is under lock and key when it comes to foreign aircraft. There are, of course, domestic flights there, but any airplane that wants to cross the border of Cuba needs an express permission from the government to do so.
- The Parthenon is an ancient Greek monument and a place that thousands of tourists come to see every month. It was seriously damaged in the 17th century, and it’s currently being restored to its former glory.
- Phoenix Park isn’t a place of great strategic interest, but it’s being actively promoted to become a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- In Sri Lanka, pilots must make sure they can traverse the air space over the country at all times, just to be on the safe side.
- Interestingly, there is no prohibition to fly over the Himalayas whatsoever, and airplanes can easily climb higher than most of the mountains there. But still, pilots prefer to avoid tracing their route over them.
- The Taiwan Strait separates China from the island of Taiwan, and the reason why flights are partially prohibited over it is that the two have a rather strained relationship.
- There are few places more important for the United Kingdom than Downing Street. It’s home to some of the most prominent British government officials, including the Prime Minister. No wonder airplanes aren’t allowed to fly over this area.
- Prairie Chapel Ranch was a Bush residence while he was the President of the US. A no-fly zone was established there right after Bush became the country’s leader, although he’d bought the ranch more than a year before that.

Texting woman killed when she walks into path of tram in Moscow - TomoNews
MOSCOW — Surveillance video has captured the moment a woman, distracted by her smartphone, was killed when she walked into the path of a streetcar in Moscow.
The unidentified woman was seen looking down on her smartphone as she crossed the track on Rusakovskaya Street. When the woman realized what was about to transpire, it was too late.
The tram was emerging from under a railway bridge. Video inside the tram showed the driver, an elderly woman, slamming on her breaks as soon as she saw the pedestrian. The driver is also seen opening the tram door and to get out and help the woman.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, but died soon afterwards.

So what is life like inside the Russian prison system, and how does it work? Is there a proper justice system in Russia? Was Nemtsov be in one of the infamous prisons?
In this mini Russian documentary, I’ll be exploring all these questions about Vladimit Putin’s government and exposing some of Russia's best kept secrets.

Drift It Like Putin’s Driver. The driving school which trains presidential chauffeurs
President Putin’s drivers have to have quick reactions and top-rate driving skills. To make sure they are up to the job, the Federal Guard Service (FSO in Russian) trains its chauffeurs, including the ones who get to drive the Russian president, at its own, special driving school. This one boasts a hi-tech track that can be artificially flooded to reproduce aquaplaning conditions. Ordinary citizens can also sign up for high-end coaching with FSO instructors.
As well as a theory class, RT correspondent Chris Helmbrecht gets a sneak peek at the track’s special features, including some underground ones, and gets to practice his drifting skills in a great big Aurus on a waterlogged track. Tempted? Jump in for an exhilarating ride.

Trump Visit to Moscow for May 9 Would Be ‘Right Step’: Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin said it would be a “right step” if U.S. counterpart Donald Trump accepts his invitation to attend the upcoming May 9 military parade in Red Square commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
“The presence of the leader of a country which made a major contribution to the fight against Nazism at a ceremony marking the end of World War II, even amid a pre-election campaign, would be a right step,” Putin told reporters in Brasilia on Thursday on the sidelines of a summit of BRICS leaders from Russia, India, China, Brazil and South Africa.
The Russian leader also warned that the overthrow of Bolivia’s socialist president, Evo Morales, and the chaos that it has sparked reminded him of events in Libya following the ouster of Muammar Qaddafi in 2011.
“There’s practically no functioning government, there’s no direct foreign intervention, but the country is on the verge of chaos,” he said, describing the events as “a worrying signal” for the wider Latin American region. Putin added, though, that he hopes that new authorities in Bolivia will maintain ties with Russia.
Speaking about the conflict in Ukraine, Putin welcomed the recent pullback of some forces but called for withdrawing all opposing sides from the line of hostilities. He also stressed the need to extend a temporary law on local self-government in Ukraine’s disputed Donbas region that expires at the end of the year.
If this doesn’t happen, a planned summit of leaders from France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine aimed at cementing efforts to resolve the five-year conflict between pro-Russian rebels and the Ukrainian army won’t make sense, he said.

Turkey downed Russian warplane, didn’t want Russia to have say on Syria - security expert
Full interview:
The Western narrative has sought to portray Russia as an aggressive regional actor. But Moscow's showcasing of its new military capabilities in Syria suggests that it can project its power at great distances cost-effectively to play a major role in international security. Has this marked a turning point in Russia's relations with the West? Oksana is joined by Mark Galeotti, Professor of Global Affairs at New York University, to analyse these issues.
