The Shipbuilders of Essex

Scenes give a complete account of the building of one of the boats, a 70-foot trawler, the St. Rosalie. Traditional singing and dancing accompany the various stages of the work. Launch of the Schooner Ardelle in Essex, MA on July 9, 2011
Anticipation and celebration as the whole town of Essex, Massachusetts gathers at high tide on the Essex River for the traditional side launch of the Schooner Ardelle. The vessel was built by Master Shipwright, Harold A. Burnham - a 2012 recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts: National Heritage Fellow Award. Harold is the 28th Burnham since 1819 to operate a shipyard in Essex.

Main Street Antiques - Essex, MA
This is a multimedia test video I made about Bob Coviello, owner of Main Street Antiques. This video was made as a test video for my thesis, which is a documentary photography project. The videos purpose is to expose the problem that most people look for new, while there are many more things with more character out there for people to enjoy. People such as Bob and other antique shops of the area recognize the importance of preserving antiques and even refinishing and repurposing pieces as well. I hope to shed light on all businesses similar to Main Street Antiques and would appreciate any help in order to get the word out!
