Las Vegas 2019 | Part 3 | Free Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden Tour
In this Las Vegas 2019 trip Part 3, we're taking a gamble on visiting a local chocolate factory just outside of Las Vegas in Henderson. You can take a self-guided tour and watch the delectables be made. Browse the Ethel M chocolate shop and indulge in chocolate liquors, gourmet candies, and gift sets. If you like chocolate, this free-to-see attraction is for you.
Additionally, they also have a botanical cactus garden that you can taking a relaxing stroll through- FOR FREE. Over 300 species of plants can be found on the grounds. Half are cacti and succulents largely native to the American Southwest, and the rest are desert trees and shrubs from the Southwestern United States, Australia, and South America. All of these plants were chosen both for the beauty of their floral displays and their ability to adapt to the climate of Southern Nevada. Don't get here too late or you'll be met with tour buses full of visitors. This is just another free thing you can do in Las Vegas.

Tour of the Ethel M Chocolate Factory on Monday March 2, 2015. Henderson is located 15 minutes from The Strip on Las Vegas, on the way to Hoover Dam. The Ethel M Chocolate Factory, M&M's World Chocolate Shoppe and the Cactus Garden attract over 700,000 tourists a year.
The Chocolate Factory is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free and tours are self-guided. Special-guided tours may be arranged for parties of 10 or more by calling +1-702-435-2655. Live chocolate production hours vary, but are generally Monday through Friday until 4:30 p.m. Chocolate factory workers are not available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Christmas in Vegas Pt 3 - Ethel M's Holiday Cactus Garden
Have you heard of Ethel M Chocolates? Every year for the holidays they light up their botanical cactus garden, and it seems to get better each year!
Ethel was the wife of Clarence Mars, the founder of Mars candies, and the inventor of M&M candies. In the late 70's after retiring, their son Forrest E Mars started Ethel M candies because Nevada was one of the only states that allowed liquor filled chocolates, and he wasn't ready to settle into retirement. With the help of Mars candy corporation and the initial investment of $150 million came Ethel M Chocolates.
Over the past 37 years the brand has grown to over 70 locations.

Ethel M Chocolates' breathtaking Botanical Cactus Garden is Nevada's largest and one of the world's most prolific collections of its kind. Based on the English landscape model of naturalistic design, the Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden features three acres of drought-tolerant ornamental, cacti, and other succulents.
Over 300 species of plants can be found on the grounds. A recent walk thru the 23rd annual Holiday Lights at the Ethel M Cactus Garden.
This always-popular attraction features more than 600,000 holiday lights, carefully strung across 300 species of native desert plants. Holiday music, visits from Santa Claus, and as always, free tours of the chocolate factory. You can also buy plenty of hot chocolate and your favorite M&M candies. This a must-do attraction for locals and tourists alike (with their own transportation!)!
The illuminated Holiday Cactus Garden will be open from 5 pm to 10 pm nightly, from November 11, 2015 through January 1, 2016.

Long time friends coming to visit your full-time RVing life is a precious gift! Missing the love, connection and conversation with life long friends while on the road is THE most negative part of our nomadic life. We LOVE all the NEW people we get to meet and do things with for the weeks or months we have together at various stops. But the “friends back home” still hold many “keys to your heart. We were graced this year with not one, but FOUR one week plus visits.
It started with friends we met on the road in the Cypress Trail RV Resort. Mike and Betty traveled to the San Diego area in January 2019, and in episode #52 we take a biking tour of the Mission Bay Bike Path and Beach area.
Marcia was second up at bat in February 2019, traveling to Palm Springs, CA in episode #59. We immersed ourselves in the history and culture of the Palm Springs area for the entire week.
A few weeks later, in March 2019, Brian & Linda met us in Las Vegas NV, and we immediately hit the obligatory Hoover Dam Tour in episode #61!
Episode #62 finds us all hiking and touring the Red Rock Canyon area.
Episode #63 takes you with us on a 34 mile electric bike ride around the Henderson NV area River Mountain Bike loop.
Episode #64 (“VEGAS BABY”) FINALLY has us hitting the strip, in a Mustang convertible, and walking around like the tourists we truly are. The next day, we meet up with Maureen,.... becoming the fourth “special” friend that traveled into town for over a week.
Sue & I would like you to know how honored we feel to have had Betty, Mike, Marcia, Linda, Brian and Maureen take the time, money, and effort to come visit us. We are lucky to have friends like you…………..
