Glick Mansion
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Glick Mansion was built by George Washington Glick in 1873. George Glick was elected to the Kansas State Legislature in 1862 and spent 16 years of the next 18 years at that post. He was later elected as Governor of Kansas and served from 1882-1885. He was the 9th Governor for the state of Kansas. Today the mansion is known as Tuck U Inn At Glick Mansion and operates as a bed and breakfast. Some believe the mansion is haunted and have claimed to hear strange sounds, footsteps when nobody is around, and doors opening and closing on their own (see the links below for more info).
The Glick Mansion is located in Atchison, Kansas.

Missouri River destruction aftermath 2011 Atchison Ks. area
The Missouri River ran out of bank creating death and destruction along it's banks. People lost life and homes, crops, farmlands, businesses, roads and bridges. In the aftermath roads and bridges left people stranded from their jobs, homes and crops loss ran into the millions. After months roads are being reconstructed and lives continue with some people driving over 100 miles to get to jobs that a bridge use to allow them a few minutes commute..The only winner was some wildlife wetlands were replinished and have taken back the lands that were drained and taken for crops. A vast stretch of sand and silt now covers the area looking like a seascape.

The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (reporting mark ATSF), often abbreviated as Santa Fe or AT&SF, was one of the larger railroads in the United States. Chartered in February 1859, the railroad reached the Kansas-Colorado border in 1873 and Pueblo, Colorado, in 1876. To create a demand for its services, the railroad set up real estate offices and sold farm land from the land grants that it was awarded by Congress. Despite the name, its main line never served Santa Fe, New Mexico, as the terrain was too difficult; the town ultimately was reached by a branch line from Lamy.
The Santa Fe was a pioneer in intermodal freight transport, an enterprise that (at one time or another) included a tugboat fleet and an airline (the short-lived Santa Fe Skyway). Its bus line extended passenger transportation to areas not accessible by rail, and ferryboats on the San Francisco Bay allowed travelers to complete their westward journeys to the Pacific Ocean. The AT&SF was the subject of a popular song, Harry Warren & Johnny Mercer's On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe, written for the film, The Harvey Girls (1946).
The railroad officially ceased operations on December 31, 1996, when it merged with the Burlington Northern Railroad to form the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway.
