Independence from the UK grows louder in Scotland
On Friday evening, Brexit will finally be achieved when the UK exits the European Union. Many doubts remain over the future relationship but also about what might happen to the UK itself. In Scotland, 62 percent of voters wanted to remain part of the EU and Scottish Nationalists campaigning for independence have been quick to say that Brexit is against the will of Scotland and strengthens the case for another referendum on independence. Simon McGregor-Wood reports from Edinburgh, the Scottish capital.

Edinburgh reax to possible 2nd independence vote
(14 Mar 2017) Residents in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, reacted on Tuesday morning to the possibility of another independence referendum, as the UK prepares to start negotiating its exit from the European Union.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said on Monday she intends to ask voters in late 2018 or early 2019 whether they want to leave the United Kingdom.
Robin MacLean, a museum curator, said Sturgeon's announcement of a second referendum was a stab in the back and a very cowardly act.
While Gregory Thomson, a tour guide from Aberdeen, said he would again vote 'yes' to Scottish independence, after doing so in the first referendum in September 2014.
I want to remain in the EU more than anything, Thomson told The Associated Press. I do think that independence is probably better at this stage for Scotland.
The United Kingdom decided in a 2016 referendum to quit the European Union after four decades of membership, but Scots voted strongly to remain.
Sturgeon says Scotland must not be taken down a path that we do not want to go down without a choice.
The UK government must agree before Scotland can hold a legally binding referendum, and May condemned Sturgeon's push for an independence vote, accusing the Scottish leader of sowing uncertainty and division.
In the 2014 referendum, Scottish voters rejected independence by a margin of 55 percent to 45 percent.
But Sturgeon said the UK's decision to leave the EU had brought about a material change of circumstances.

Scots react to Brexit vote
(25 Jun 2016) The European Union anthem 'Ode to Joy' rang out on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Saturday, two days after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.
Scotland however voted strongly to remain in the EU and the outcome of Thursday's vote is reigniting the question of Scottish independence.
Standing under the statue of the famous Scottish philosopher David Hume, Tony Collins, a 32-year-old humanitarian worker based usually in Lebanon and bag piper player, sees a new independence referendum as guaranteed and sure to succeed.
John Mcgauchie, a 57-year-old unemployed man, is angry at the political class and believes Brexit will lead to Scotland leaving the United Kingdom.
Scotland voted in 2014 to remain a part of the UK, but that decision was seen by many as conditional on the UK remaining in the EU.

UK: I am seriously depressed about tomorrow - Scots express mixed feelings about Brexit
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
Residents of Scotland's capital city Edinburgh shared mix feelings about the imminent departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union on Thursday, on the eve of Brexit officially taking effect.
One of the locals, Michael said, I am seriously depressed about tomorrow and tend to ignore it. That new 50 pens they are putting out, not legal currency to me.
Another resident, Heather, shared similar feelings, saying, I don't want it to happen. Like most Scottish I feel like my voice has not been heard, I feel that as a country we have been left out, we haven't got a voice in Westminster so no, I don't want it to happen, I rather stay within the European Union.
On another hand, Noon was more confident about the country's direction.
Our country's best interest first, rather than any other country, like Trump. I like Trump because he puts America first over any other country, he said. We might get higher steel prices but he puts the country first so if it means that our country as a whole will be kind of, if it does better for us, if we have kind of a better tax system and a better immigrant system, I can see that working, but at the end of the day it will be like anything else.
The UK is due to leave the European Union at 23:00 GMT on Friday.

Turkey Wants to Accelerate TF-X Production Cooperation with the UK!
Turkey plans to accelerate its cooperation with Britain to build a new generation of fighter aircraft for the Turkish air force, said Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
The £ 100 million deal between Kale Group and Rolls-Royce was postponed in March after it was initially signed by the previous British Prime Minister, Theresa May in 2017, reports The Guardian.
Britain has become one of Turkey's important partners and after its exit from the European Union, it will seek a trade and defense agreement.
In establishing a joint venture in 2017, Turkish defense companies Kale and Rolls-Royce said it would supply engines for Turkey's first TF-X fighter, Turkey's domestically-made stealth fighter that replaced the F-16 fighter jet. The TF-X fighter is expected to be ready in 2023 as a symbol of Turkish strength on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish republic.
The deal was hampered by disputes over intellectual property rights and offers from other alternative suppliers, including Russia. This also happened when NATO membership in Turkey was questioned again after the purchase of Russia's S-400 air defense system, a move that led to the failure of US F-35 sales to Turkey.
Turkey claims to have no choice but to buy Russia's S-400 system after the US and Europe refuse to supply their air defense systems.
Ankara has proposed a joint technical working group to examine how Turkey using US fighter jets and Russian defense systems can simultaneously be compatible with NATO membership.
The announcement of the revival of the Rolls-Royce agreement could be a means to warn the US Congress that Turkey still has alternative allies and suppliers if its access to the F-35 is stopped.
Justin Bronk, an analyst at the RUSI defense said, Ownership of the S-400 is basically not compatible with NATO membership, but it is not at all compatible with ownership of the F-35. As the Turkish armed forces show, the first thing a (Russian) technician who manages S-400 radars in Turkey is to thoroughly test the system against Turkish air force fighter jets.
If Turkey is allowed to use the F-35 and also the S-400, Russia will be able to test the S-400 radar against the F-35 in a variety of different conditions.

Duke of Edinburgh seen at Sandringham
(13 Jan 2020) Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is set to hold talks Monday with Prince Harry for the first time since he and his wife, Meghan, unveiled their controversial plan to walk away from royal roles - a dramatic family summit meant to chart a future course for the couple.
The summit reflects the queen's desire to contain the fallout from Harry and Meghan’s decision to “step back” as senior royals, work to become financially independent and split their time between Britain and North America.
The couple, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made the announcement on Wednesday without telling the queen or other senior royals first.
The meeting at the monarch's private Sandringham estate in eastern England will also include Harry's father Prince Charles and his brother Prince William. It comes after days of intense news coverage, in which supporters of the royal family's feuding factions used the British media to paint conflicting pictures of who was to blame for the rift.
William is expected to travel to Sandringham from London and Harry from his home in Windsor, west of the British capital. Charles will fly back from the Gulf nation of Oman, where he was attending a condolence ceremony Sunday following the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Meghan, who is in Canada with the couple’s baby son Archie, is likely to join the meeting by phone.
Buckingham Palace said “a range of possibilities” would be discussed, but the queen was determined to resolve the situation within “days, not weeks.
The goal was to agree on next steps at Monday’s gathering, which follows days of talks among royal courtiers and officials from the UK and Canada. Buckingham Palace stressed, however, that “any decision will take time to be implemented.
Among the details that need to be worked out are who will pay for the couple’s currently taxpayer-funded security, what money-making activities they can undertake and what the tax consequences would be of moving to Canada or the United States.

Scottish leaders renew push to exit UK following Brexit vote
In a 2014 referendum, Scotland decided to remain a part of the United Kingdom. But following the UK’s vote last week to leave the European Union, Scottish leaders are now renewing the push to exit the UK in order to preserve Scotland’s membership in the EU. NewsHour special correspondent Malcolm Brabant reports from Edinburgh.
⛓ Plan to Make Post-Brexit UK ‘Submissive’ ⛓
The European Union intends to punish the UK and make it submissive, claims a leading German economist and academic.
Yesterday, Professor Thorsten Polleit said that EU leaders were intent on punishing the British and making them submissive for having the temerity to leave their precious political union.
The professor, who is the chief economist of the gold bullion firm Degussa, an academic at the university of Bayreuth and also the president of the Ludwig Von Mises institute has lambasted the EU and called it ‘anything but a free market’ and accused it of being an ‘instrument of power’ that cudgels anyone who disagrees with it.
--------------------------------
Supercharge your YouTube videos:
--------------------------------
He also said that the EU’s actions after the UK vote to leave amounted to threats, which showed the true nature of the union.
In fact, the EU single market is anything but a free market, and the free trade agreements of the EU are often more harmful to free trade than they are of use to it.” he said.
Although none of the EU leaders has ever actually said that the UK should be punished, they have repeatedly said that, whatever agreement is reached, it must not be more favourable for a UK outside the EU, than inside it.
Germany’s minister for foreign affairs, Sigmar Gabriel, has said that “there should be no advantage for countries which leave the union”.
And once president of Belgium, Guy Verhofstadt, has previously said that the UK should not end up with a more favourable position as it would mean there’s no point to the EU.
The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, has said that the Uk won’t be punished and that revenge for leaving was not on the agenda. But he has said that the UK “will not have the same rights and it will not have the same facilities as a member state”, which gives away the real thinking behind these negotiations.
Let’s take a step back and look at this.
The Uk is leaving the EU and wants to strike a good trade deal with the EU and has been actively putting forward proposals.
But all the EU does is put up obstacles and demands for outlandish amounts of money.
The EU is not negotiating for a deal that would be the best outcome for the businesses and people of the EU, it is negotiating from a political stance of making sure the UK does not benefit from leaving. EU negotiators are putting the political project ahead of the well being of the citizens.
The EU also refused to properly negotiate with David Cameron as he frantically toured the Bloc’s capitals looking to secure a deal that would keep the UK in the EU. Their response was take it or leave it.
The EU has proved that it only has one direction of travel, and that direction does not accommodate the needs of the individual nation states within it.
The people of the UK have come to realise that and now wish to move on. In time others may well want to follow suit; with a successful UK outside the EU being the catalyst for change. You only have to read the news to get the general rumblings from its discontented nation states. And punishing them and their businesses by proxy for the actions of the UK could be a step too far! Brexit may well prove that the concept of the un-reformable EU has now passed its sell-by-date.
Those top Eurocrats understand the gravity of Brexit and are desperately trying to ruin it purely to keep their failing political project alive. They know that this could prove in time to be their Berlin Wall moment and they are on the wrong side of it!
Do you think any attempt to punish the UK for Brexit will work?

Thank you.

How to Survive Flying Emirates Economy Class (Top Tips)
I flew Emirates A380 economy class from Dubai to Zurich. In the video, I gave 8 good tips on how to survive or how to enjoy economy class flying. I am sure you will benefit from some of the tip I gave!
The video also shows you the children's kit and meal on Emirates. Also Ramadan Iftar boxes are shown in the video. Enjoy the magnificent forward wing view with engine on the A380!
--------
Join me for a relaxed and fun flight from Dubai to Zurich with Emirates. I travel aboard the Airbus A380 aeroplane in Emirates economy class and I reveal eight tips and tricks on how you can enjoy and get the most out of your economy class flight. We can’t all experience the luxury of flying first class but this video aims to show that it certainly isn’t impossible to have a very enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable flight in economy class with just a little prior planning, research and thought.
In this video, I also specifically examine some of the comforts offered by the Emirates airline within their economy class to help their customers. One thing we focus on is Emirates’ provision for children and we examine the complimentary items including blankets, bibs, baby wipes and colouring in books which are given out to families with young children.
Tip #1 – Even if you’re flying in economy class, try and access a credit card lounge before the flight to make yourself more comfortable and prepared for boarding. You’re more likely to start the flight in a better mood and in a more positive state of mind, especially if you’ve had to wait at the airport for a while, if you’ve had something to eat, had a comfortable seat to sit on and been in relaxed and more quiet surroundings. If you are not eligible to enter one of these lounges, consider paying for entry; it is likely to be well worth your investment as one of the biggest reasons why people do not enjoy their flight in economy class is because they were not in the right frame of mind to begin with.
Tip #2 – Use a website such as expertflyer.com to see where clusters of empty seats are on the flight that you wish to take. By using this website, you may be able to purchase seats from the airline’s website which are in a quieter spot, with less people surrounding you. expertflyer.com can show real time seat maps for your flight up to one hour before the departure of the flight, letting you make an informed decision as to the best seat location for you in economy class.
Tip #3 – Use a website such as seatguru.com to get to know the layout of the economy class on your flight better so that you can select more advantageous economy seats with views over the engines, or, perhaps most importantly, with more leg room. There’s almost always a few economy seats with much, much more leg room than others because of the free space that has to be left in front of the aircraft’s mid-placed emergency exit.
Furthermore, after coming on board, if there’s a very favourable seat which is vacant and unsold, grab it before anybody else does!
Tip #4 – If you can, travel in the low season when fares are lower and when planes are less crowded. Low season months are February, May and November.
During my flight in Emirates economy class, I was able to move around to a large number of different seats as, travelling in May, it was low season. I was also able to lie down over a complete row of four economy seats and get a quality rest as if I was in business class, but without business class prices! If you can, it certainly pays dividends to travel in economy class when it’s less busy in the low season.
Tip #5 – Always bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated and avoid excessive alcohol consumption which can dehydrate you. Additionally, always bring an eye-shade with you so that you can get quality rest whenever you need it; these are provided on some longer haul flights but it’s always best to have your own, just in case.
Tip #6 – Wear something loose and comfy to promote good well being and also good blood circulation whilst you’re up in the air. This is especially important when the flight is crowded and/or there isn’t a lot of leg room and movement is restricted. This follows on to…
Tip #7 – Wherever possible, stretch your limbs and walk around the cabin – it doesn’t just help keep your blood circulating in what can be a cramped economy class but it keeps your mood happy too. Feeling confined and restricted in economy class is a big source of uncomfortable economy class flights.
Tip #8 – Stay smiling and stay positive whenever travelling in economy class. Don’t forget to bring your headphones with you to listen to some of your favourite tunes whilst you’re in the sky!
I really want to hear your opinion – do you have any thoughts about what makes for a good trip in economy class? Is there anything that you swear by? Leave your comments down below and, as always, thanks for watching!
