Smriti Irani Case: Four Fabindia Employees Arrested, Senior Executives to be questioned, says Police
PANAJI: Four employees of the Fabindia outlet in Goa - where Union minister Smriti Irani claimed to have discovered a camera trained on the trial room - were arrested on Friday evening.
The senior executives of the ethnic lifestyle brand are likely to be questioned on Saturday.
While trying clothes at the outlet yesterday, Ms Irani spotted the camera which was positioned to record inside the small room. Footage from the camera, including that of the minister, was found recorded on a computer at the store, alleged a legislator of Goa, Micheal Lobo.

Fabindia Case: Court grants bail to accused
Panaji, April 05 (ANI): A court in Goa granted bail to four employees of the popular apparel brand outlet, Fabindia, who were arrested after a hidden camera was discovered in the store's trial room by HRD Minister Smriti Irani. Irani was trying on clothes when she spotted the hidden camera trained towards the trial room. She raised an alarm following which a police complaint was registered against 'Fabindia' and four of its staff members were taken into custody. A CCTV camera was found installed in the ventilation unit of the trial room. The police on inspecting found footage from the camera, including that of the minister, recorded on a computer at the store. The court has granted conditional bail to the accused. Reacting to the incident, Fabindia wrote on its Facebook page on Friday, Fabindia is deeply concerned and shocked at this allegation. We are in the process of investigating this internally and will be cooperating fully with the police. Senior officials of the company are on their way to Goa and will be present during the investigation.

Smriti Irani case: 4 staff members of Fabindia arrested
Union minister Smriti Irani spotted a camera in the trial room of an apparel store in Goa on Friday, sparking a debate over privacy concerns at such facilities in the tourism-dependent coastal villages in the state.
Irani, on a two-day visit to Goa, came across the camera when she was at a Fabindia showroom at Candolim village, 20km north of state capital Panaji, to buy clothes.
Superintendent of police (north) Umesh Gaonkar said four staff members of the showroom were arrested. They were identified as: Paresh Sadanad Bhagat (26), Raju Sanap Mallappa Payanachi (24), Prashant Dattaram Naik (20) and Karim Sanap Amil Lakhani (24). All of them are local residents, according to Calangute police station station where an FIR was lodged.

Bengaluru, April 4 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday said that enquiry is underway over Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani's complaint on finding a CCTV camera at an apparel store's changing room. Irani reported voyeurism to Goa police which filed an FIR on the basis of a CCTV camera footage that had recorded her while she tried out some clothes at the Fabindia outlet in Candolim, a tourist spot 15km from Panaji. Irani is in Goa with her husband Zubin Irani on a two-day private holiday. Parsekar said that the incident was unfortunate and enquiry is underway on whether the act was done on purpose or not. Further, he also maintained that Goa is safe for women and tourists.

Goa gang-rape: Parulekar 'takes back' offensive remarks
Panaji, June 07 (ANI): Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar expressed regret over his earlier remarks on the gang-rape of two Delhi-based women in the popular tourist destination. Parulekar had on Thursday caused outrage by saying that the youths who allegedly gang-raped the two tourists were of 'bad character' with a history of 'petty crimes'. He reportedly added that such stray incidents were bound to take place in a busy tourist destination like Goa. Five men have been arrested on charges of assaulting and raping the two women tourists. The men stopped the women's taxi on Monday evening in Anjuna beach village, posing as anti-narcotics police. The accused took the women and the taxi driver to a flat where they were assaulted, police said. The driver, who was released the next morning, helped police find the women and the men accused of attacking them. The accused were on Wednesday sent to seven days police custody.

Goa building collapse: Rescue operations stopped; 17 bodies recovered, 12 missing

The Goa Police have registered an FIR against Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal for outraging the modesty of woman journalist during 'ThinkFest' event a fortnight ago.
The Goa Police has confirmed that an FIR has been filed against Tejpal under rape charges.
