Video taken after the rain storm. Great view of neighboring Myanmar (Burma). There is still occasional drug running along this border since there is no natural landmark to mark the border with Burma, e.g. a river, simply the mountain ridge itself and Thai farmers literally rub shoulders with their Burmese counterparts, hence this fortified viewpoint and the numerous army checkpoints you may pass along the way. Climb the stairs and find gun emplacements, trenches, pillboxes, a small memorial and a small army camp where soldiers of the Thai army keep an eye on the Burmese whose soldiers are in camp of their own just few hundred meters down the road.

We took an unexpected trip to the Chiang Rai, Thailand night market! Is it worth seeing during your stay in Chiang Rai? Watch to see the best Thai street food found in Northern Thailand along with other fun things to do in Chiang Rai.
We took a 4 hour bus ride from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai to spend a few days there over the Christmas holiday. When we were looking for what to do in Chiang Rai, you either find temples or night markets. Since we are heading to visit the temples tomorrow, we thought it would be fun to visit the Sunday Night Market in Chiang Rai and compare it to the one in Chiang Mai.
But first, we went to a Cat Cafe in downtown Chiang Rai Thailand to have our first cat cafe experience. As we sipped our coffee, we got to watch and play with the most adorable cats! Although it isn’t a big attraction, the cafe is very popular and we would definitely recommend putting it on your list of where to go in Chiang Rai if you like animals.
After we settled into our cute Airbnb ( we headed into town to visit the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar and Sunday night market, both are on the list of the best things to do in Chiang Rai. We ended up spending all of our time at the Sunday night market because it was much bigger than we thought! If you love night markets in Thailand as much as we do, then we highly suggest the two in Chiang Rai for a fun night out.
The clean Chiang Rai air must have messed with Ryan’s head because he ordered more Thai street food at the night market than I did! How is that possible?! The street food in Chiang Rai was far superior to the street food we found at the Chiang Mai market. We aren’t sure why this is, but the Thai street food here was so fresh and delicious.

Things to do in Chiang Rai Street Food and Dinner...
Today we arrive in Chiang Rai we stay at the corner hotel fantastic value for money and close to everything has very clean rooms could not fault Just a few minutes’ walk to the walking street, The Corner Hotel offers modern accommodation with free Wi-Fi. Free parking is available. For extra convenience, there is a 24-hour front desk.
The hotel is a 5-minute drive to Central Chaing Rai Department Store. It takes 15 minutes to drive to Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport.
Fitted with a balcony, each air-conditioned room features a flat-screen TV, fridge and minibar. Shower facilities are included in an en suite bathroom.
Corner Café serves breakfast and coffee. Guests can enjoy a selection of wine at Wine House.
This is a very nice hotel for the money Rates from THB 522 would recommend if you were In Chiang Mai to stay at this hotel.
After settling in we walk around the corner to a night bazaar for a look around and some dinner. We end up at an authentic Northern Thai restaurant and try the local food. We try some local soup that they only have once a year.. Was not a good taste for me but that’s just my opinion .the rest of the food was quite good. Then for a stroll through the market for some food tasting much street food to choose from.

Gelegen op een hoogte van 950 meter boven de zeespiegel, de Mae Fah Luang tuin bestaat uit bloemperken beplant met een duizelingwekkende verscheidenheid aan bloemen en struiken uit alle hoeken van de wereld; onder deze, meer dan 70 soorten van koele klimaat en gematigde sier-en bloei planten die goed gedijen op grote hoogte worden geplant in het midden van inheemse planten, groene struiken en vaste planten. Een groot aantal bloeiende planten tot bloei komen het hele jaar door en vormen een prachtige heuvel-side tapijt dat verandert met de seizoenen.
Vaak omschreven als de meest prachtige aangelegde tuin in het Koninkrijk van Thailand, en misschien zelfs, in de regio Azië-Pacific, in 1993, was The Mae Fah Luang Tuin bekroond met de Pacific Asia Tourism Association's PATA Gold Awards in de categorie 'Tourism Development' in erkenning van zijn uitstekende prestatie in de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe toeristische bestemming.

LOVELY RIVERSIDE CAFE
From the outside, you could not see that the cafe is actually quite big and spacious with nice grounds overlooking the park and Kok river.
The building is very pretty, and the surroundings are beautiful, in a park-like setting. Right on the Kok river. The concept of this restaurant is dining with nature, rose garden, Kok river, cool breeze, flower gardens. Dining in this restaurant looks like having high tea in English garden.
NICE SELECTION AT REASONABLE PRICES
The (western) food was excellent. The building is very pretty, and the surroundings are beautiful, in a park-like setting. Right on the Kok river.
Fast, excellent service from attentive staff. Mostly western food on the menu, but there's Thai and other Asian dishes as well for people so interested.

A stroll through a small portion of Chiang Rai's Saturday Walking Street in northern Thailand, which closes Thanali Street for about 8 blocks and turns it into a market. I got there early (before dark), before it gets so crowded it's hard to walk (or film).

Doi Tung (ดอยตุง) is a mountain in the Thai highlands of Chiang Rai Province, Thailand.
Doi Tung Royal Villa
The Doi Tung royal villa, former residence of the princess mother Srinagarindra is also high up on the hill.
Thanks to the princess mother's interest and encouragement, the hills were reforested.She was also instrumental in fighting against the opium trade, as a result the local hilltribes stopped growing poppies and began to grow other crops.
The royal villa was originally built as a summer residence for the princess mother and now houses a museum and displaying her work to improve the life quality of local tribal people.
The Mae Fah Luang Gardens are a botanical park on the slopes below the royal villa. Flowers and plants grow among rock formations.
The royal residence of HRH the late Princess Mother formerly served as her base of operations to monitor the work progress at the Doi Tung Development Project. It has since been transformed into a symbol of the Princess Mother's commitment to improving the local people's quality of life.
