Beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park opens for Memorial Day Weekend
This summer, bring the family (and the dog, too) to the beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park. Lake Metroparks opens the beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park Memorial Day Weekend and June 2 through Labor Day. The park is open sunrise to sunset. Concessions available and lifeguards on duty, 9:30 am to 8 pm (weather dependent).
Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park is 21-acre lakefront park featuring a beach with a gradual slope and sandy bottom. There is a breakwall that keeps the waters at the beach relatively calm. Recreational opportunities on the waterfront include kayaking, canoeing, sailing, boating, paddleboarding, camps, and special beach programs. There is also a designated dog-swim area located on the far east portion of the beach.
Amenities Accessible restrooms, changing rooms and shower facilities; picnic area and pavilion with grills, drinking fountain, playground, volleyball courts, and a Surf Chair (all-terrain wheelchair for use by visitors with physical disabilities). Food concession stand is open daily, weather permitting, Memorial Day Weekend and June 2 through Labor Day.
Directions Take Rt. 2 to the Fairport Harbor/Richmond Street exit and go north to the light at the Richmond Street/Rt. 283 intersection. Proceed north (straight) for about 1/4 mile to High Street. Turn right on High Street and proceed to Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park entrance.

Lake Metroparks Fairport Harbor Beach Breakwall Swim Event
This short video features Cleveland Ohio Realtor Darren Burke from Launch Sales Team highlighting a Breakwall Open Water Swim event. It is free of cost and is held every Tuesday morning at 7:30a.m. during July and August at Fairport Harbor Beach, the Lake Metroparks offers a guided swim (followed by kayakers, stand-up paddleboards and a jetski with a safety sled). The swim is just under a 1/2 mile each way and draws a varied crowd. While not a beginners swimming event, there are swimmers of all ages as well as some college swimmers from Lake Erie College and some local triathlon swimmers who use the event as part of their training.
After the swim, a regular following of volunteers cook breakfast and have coffee and fellowship before heading off to work in the morning ($5.00 annual donation for the whole summer appreciated).
Fairport Harbor Beash is about 40 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio on Lake Erie. Lake Erie is the 13th largest body of water in the world and in this protected breakwall portion of the beach, makes for smooth water and fantastic open water swimming.
Fairport Harbor Beach opens at 9:30 am during the summer and is free for Fairport Harbor residents and $2.00 for residents of Lake County. During the summer season, Fairport Harbor beach offers kayak, paddleboard and windsurf rentals as well.

July 20, 2012, 9 pm Monitoring Pain in Painesville via Fairport Harbor - massive Grand River Asphalt blights huge prime waterfront property with large scale industrial operation that clearly causes significant fugitive and air emissions, including from materials handling and transport, like from this highly polluting freighter, which burns very low grade diesel and clearly pollutes heavily (rail and truck traffic raise similar concerns)

Geneva State Park is a state park located on the shore of Lake Erie in Geneva, Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States. It contains 698 acres of land. The park offers access to Lake Erie's central basin through a six-lane boat ramp and marina with charter fishing boat services.
