Deadly nightclub fire during concert in Romania
A deadly fire erupted at a concert featuring the heavy metal band Goodbye to Gravity at a nightclub in Bucharest, Romania. At least 27 were killed and nearly 200 injured after the special effects ignited polystyrene decorations on a pillar as the flames roared across the ceiling. Barry Petersen reports.

Romania is in mourning after a fireworks display inside a nightclub set off one of the worst disasters the country has seen in decades.
CNN reports that about four hundred people were gathered in Colectiv, a club in Bucharest, on Friday night for a free concert by rock group Goodbye to Gravity that soon turned disastrous.
According to witnesses, a spark from the show’s pyrotechnic display set a polystyrene pillar on fire, with flames spreading quickly and engulfing the entire ceiling in seconds.
As people opened a door to get out, a blast of air entered the room, the oxygen exacerbating the fire and turning it into a roaring inferno, with some reportedly witnessing an explosion, according to Reuters.
People fainted from the heavy smoke while others were trampled in the frantic rush to exit through the club’s single door.
At least 27 people were killed in the incident, while more than 180 were critically injured from smoke inhalation and burns. The Telegraph reports that some of those who died may have been killed in the stampede. Victims were brought to at ten different hospitals in the city, as officials also set up emergency medical services on site.
Authorities say the club had all the necessary paperworks for the show, but a formal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.

Bucharest nightclub fire kills 27
Musician Alex Teodorescu was at the Colectiv Club in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, when the fire broke out that killed 27 people and wounded scores more.
I was near the door and I was among the first who got out. The others behind me started to get out burned, their skin was black, Teodorescu told euronews.

STORYLINE:
A heavy metal band's pyrotechnical show sparked a deadly fire at a Bucharest nightclub on Friday, killing 27 people and injuring scores of the club's mostly youthful patrons, officials and witnesses said.
WIth resources stretched, some of the victims were transferred throughout the night to other hospitals in the Romanian capital.
The country's defence minister said two helicopters and two planes were on standby if other injured had to be moved to specialist hospitals around the country.
Witnesses told local media that there were between 300 to 400 mostly young people at the club, housed in a former factory, and only one exit door when the metal band Goodbye to Gravity was performing.

Episode 7 of my trip to Bucharest, Romania. My 2nd to last night of travel in Bucharest, Romania was spent out with my Pura Vida hostel mates at a shot bar called Shoteria, having a few drinks. We ended up staying there almost the entire night making friends with the Bartenders and plenty of other Romanians.

BUCHAREST Romania's government declared a three-day national mourning on Saturday, after an overnight fire in a Bucharest nightclub killed 27 people and injured 184 during a rock concert that featured fireworks used indoors. In one of the capital's worst disasters in decades, up to 500 people, mostly young adults, stampeded for the only available exit as the club in the basement of a Communist-era sport-shoe factory filled with smoke. Officials and witnesses said fireworks were used inside the club, while Colectiv Club's Facebook page advertised pyrotechnic effects at the show.
