Rangers FC wins the 2017 Champions League with a spectacular injury-time goal against city rivals Partick Thistle in front of a near-sellout crowd of just under 6,799 at Firhill Stadium Glasgow resulting in unparalleled nationwide celebrations throughout the United Kingdom and Great Britain.
** Note: We have since been informed this was not a match played for the Champions League or for any trophy or title for that matter and was, in fact, a match of little to no significance at all.

There are few leagues with such contrast in stadiums: from the massive cathedrals of Celtic and Rangers to the tiny grounds of the likes of Hamilton and Ross County. It’s a mix of old and new, from the grandeur of old Archibald Leitch stands to bland 1990s stands. From stadiums overlooking the vast Scottish countryside to those hemmed in by terraced houses in traditional worker’s neighbourhoods.

Partick Thistle fans pay their respects to EuroMillions winner Colin Weir as funeral cortege stops a
Scores of Partick Thistle fans gathered outside Firhill Stadium today to pay their final respects to “club saviour” record EuroMillions winner Colin Weir. The lifelong Thistle fan, 72, died on December 27 following a short illness after an investment in the club which paves the way for fan ownership. His funeral cortege arrived outside the ground in north Glasgow at 10.45 am as fans, players, ex-players and club officials braved a biting bitterly cold wind. The main doors of the stadium had a banner with a photo of the former STV cameraman which said:” “Colin Weir, one of our own”. A single wreath in the club colours of red and yellow adorned the steps into the stadium. Colin and his then-wife Chris, from Largs in North Ayrshire, claimed the £161 million EuroMillions jackpot in July 2011, the highest amount handed out in the UK at the time. Colin Weir pays final visit beloved Partick Thistle View gallery A lifelong Partick Thistle fan, he invested part of his winnings in the club, leading to the youth set-up being rebranded the Thistle Weir Youth Academy and a section of the stadium being named the Colin Weir Stand. And he secured a majority shareholding at the club in November and promised to give the 55% shareholding directly to a fans group by March 2020. The club dedicated a recent win to him following his death, with players wearing black armbands and fans holding a minute’s applause. A statement on the club website paying tribute stated: “A Scottish patriot, philanthropist and Jags man to the end. Rest In Peace, sadly missed.” After stopping at Firhill the cortege continued to the funeral service in Partick Burgh Hall, followed by a private cremation. The Weirs donated £1 million to the Yes campaign ahead of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum and continued donating to the SNP afterwards. Ms Sturgeon and her predecessor Alex Salmond both paid tribute when Mr Weir’s death was announced on December 27. Earlier this year, the Weirs confirmed they would divorce after 38 years of marriage. Former players including ex-Scotland goalkeeper Alan Rough, Gerry Britton and David Rowson, and ex-manager Alan Archibald joined the present squad lining the main stand side of Firhill Road. Spontaneous applause broke out as the procession stopped outside the ground. Former chair of the club Jacqui Low emerged to thanks fans for paying their respects. , 76, said:”I never met Colin, but all I heard were good things. It is a sad loss. Every fan appreciates what he did for the club.” , 61, said:”He has left the club in a much more solid state. You could say he is the club saviour. “His legacy will live on through the youth development side of things, which is an outstanding achievement.” Trevor Hardcastle, 59, said:”He is the saviour of the club. He saved out great club, and I don;’t think Thistle would be here if it was not for him. “He was, and still is, one of our own.” Caroline Donnachie, 43, said:”What can I say ab
