When Belfast Community Gospel Choir arrived at FCBC NYC for rehearsal and sound check for the Sunday service this is what greeted them. Needless to say BCGC members were totally overwhelmed, what an honour for us all to share a stage with them.
Working Families Party formally endorses Cynthia Nixon
(20 May 2018) WORKING FAMILIES PARTY FORMALLY ENDORSES CYNTHIA NIXON
New York's progressive Working Families Party formally endorsed Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon on Saturday as its gubernatorial candidate - challenging incumbent Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The small, progressive party held its annual convention at Harlem's First Corinthian Baptist Church, where the 52-year-old Emmy award-winning activist accepted the nomination.
After eight years of Andrew Cuomo and with Donald Trump in the White House, I cannot imagine not running, Nixon said.
Also formally endorsed was New York City Council member Jumaane Williams for lieutenant governor.
In an unusual move, the party's state committee voted to back two hopefuls for attorney general: New York City Public Advocate Letitia James, whom Cuomo supports, and law professor Zephyr Teachout.
There are two incredible progressive women in the race and New Yorkers would be lucky to have either as attorney general, said Bill Lipton, director of the New York Working Families Party, which he said gave James and Teachout their start running for office.
Teachout, a professor at Fordham University, ran against Cuomo for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2014, winning 34 percent of the vote to his 62 percent.
Gov. Cuomo would like nothing more than to have progressives fighting each other, Lipton told The Associated Press. But we're committed to staying united.
Nixon, who has never run for office, will face Cuomo in the Democratic gubernatorial primary on Sept. 13.
If she loses, her name could still appear on the Working Families Party ballot line in the November general election. She has not said whether she would opt for that.
Polls show the two-time incumbent governor with a commanding lead over the novice candidate. A Quinnipiac University poll released May 2 found 50 percent of registered Democratic voters favor Cuomo compared to 28 percent for Nixon. The poll of 1,076 New York state voters conducted April 26 to May 1 has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
The party first announced in April that it would embrace Cuomo's challenger over the governor.
Cuomo said he would not seek the backing of the party that had endorsed him in the past. Instead, the governor has gained the support of two major unions that pulled out of the Working Families Party over its support for Nixon.
The party was first organized in 1998 by a coalition of labor unions, plus a variety of community and advocacy groups aiming to represent middle- and working-class New Yorkers.
Abbey Fashouer, a spokeswoman for Cuomo's re-election campaign, has said the governor's progressive record is unmatched, including helping to raise New York's minimum wage, and pushing for gun-safety legislation and the legalization of same-sex marriage.

The Voices of Corinthian-Prt. 1
When Pastor S. Anthony Justice came to The Corinthian Baptist Church of Fairbanks in August of 2007, we had one choir(the seniors) and a children's/youth ensemble. As the ministry grew, and more souls were added fairly quickly, the musician at the time left unexpectedly to take care of her ailing father in the lower 48(our way of saying down in the states). As an acomplished musician and former Minister of Music, pastor founded the mass choir which became the conference choir because it was founded at church conferences as Pastor would teach one song a week...It later became The Voices of Corinthian. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

No I am really here for the music, I am not that religious. No

6. SOUNDBITE: (English) Dabney Montgomery, Church Member
We are hoping that they come more for the religious service, but we have to face facts. Many of them haven't heard gospel before and they come for the gospel.
7. Close of church member pull focus to tourists in background
8. Mid of church members praying plus camera pan to pews
9. SOUNDBITE: (English) Esther D. Miller, Church Member:
If the tourists didn't come the church would practically be empty, because we have lost a lot of members and we have old members. And lot of them can't come out. So the visitors is a blessing in disguise.

it's just more like they're coming to a baseball game as spectators. I just think that sometimes it's disrespectful.

24. SOUNDBITE: (English) Pastor Gregory Robeson Smith:
I refuse to commercialise the church and the worship experience. I know that there are churches who work with those agencies, and they receive remuneration. I don't do that. You don't pay people to experience the lord to come and pray and ask God to release them of whatever burden that they're facing. I think that's unconscionable. Jesus never did that.

LEADIN:
Live gospel music in Harlem's churches is drawing tourists from Europe.
But they aren't necessarily devout Christians, which is of concern to some of New York City's faithful.
STORYLINE:
On any given Sunday, Harlem's churches are not only filled with local parishioners, but European tourists eager to experience authentic gospel music.
Harlem's gospel church tours were born in the early 1980s, when just a couple of tour companies began ferrying European visitors _ the French and the Germans in particular _ to services on Sunday mornings.
Since then the industry has exploded: on a busy summer Sunday, one tour operator alone might run 15 buses packed with tourists to various places of worship.
Tours vary in cost, with the pricier ones charging $55 per person. And therein lies the uncomfortable overlap between religion and commercialism. Most churches get a cut of the profit, though tour operators refuse to disclose how much or even name the churches they work with
Sunday mornings mean lines wind around the block to the Mother African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, and tour busses drop off tourists in droves.
The visitors arrive, guidebooks in hand - but they're not necessarily here for their own religious devotion.
Some are more pragmatic.

Family members arrive at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in New York City for the funeral of the former t
Draped in a New York state flag, former three-term Gov. Mario Cuomo's casket has been carried into a church where dignitaries from both sides of the political aisle are remembering his progressive legacy.
His family - including son Gov. Andrew Cuomo - arrived at a Manhattan church in a hearse Tuesday.
Mourners include Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democratic New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, state Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos and Republican-turned-independent former Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Democratic State Assembly Speaker put off taking his seat before the funeral started, standing outside in the snow to await the hearse.
Cuomo spoke out for the voiceless and powerless during three terms as governor. The 82-year-old Cuomo died Thursday, hours after Andrew Cuomo was inaugurated for a second term.

My trip to states
October the third 08 i went to USA.
Starting off landing at JFK Airport.. From there we took to Hotel Edison (i think it was called that at least) New York/Manhatten. And we saw the usual basic stuff like Empire state building, Statue of Liberty etc.
I had a nice impression of Manhatten it self, and the subway reminded me of Londons system so it was just off the wall using it, litteraly.
After 6 days in NYC Manhatten, we took off to L.A Beverly Hills where we stayed 7 days.
It was FUCKING AMAZING. Hot girls everywhere at the beach. Oh yeah and we went doing the basic stuff once again, like The hills, the sign, Walk of fame etc.
At first i really didn't wanna go see any theme park., But i got convinced by the hotel manager in the end and we bought some tickets to Universal Studios. It was the most amazing fucking insane Park i'd ever been to.
Let me put it this way
NYC Manhatten was deffenatly the town it self
And L.A Bvl hills was deffenatly the surroundings, attractions. Feel free to comment.
The songs is
KOL - Manhatten
Bob Marley - Three little birds
30 secs to mars - A beautiful Lie Acoustic.

The National Baptist Fellowship of Concerned Pastors Live News Press Conference 3-17-2015
Black pastors protest gay speaker at Historically Black College
By Star Parker
The course of history changes at special moments when courageous individuals step up to take a stand, often at personal risk, on issues burning in controversy.
One of those moments was just celebrated with the commemoration of the historic civil rights march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in March 1965.
Another such moment is unfolding before us today.
A group of some 150 black pastors, the National Baptist Fellowship of Concerned Pastors, is standing in protest against an invitation from the American Baptist College, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Bishop Yvette Flunder to speak at the college’s annual Garnett-Nabrit Lecture Series, March 15-18.
These pastors are protesting because Bishop Flunder is an open Lesbian, legally married to another woman, and a proud and aggressive advocate of this lifestyle. In a press release, the pastors called this invitation “irresponsible, scandalous, non-biblical, and certainly displeasing to God,” and requested that Dr. Forrest Harris, president of the College, rescind the invite.
Both the National Baptist Fellowship of Concerned Pastors and the American Baptist College are affiliated with the National Baptist Convention USA, which, with a reported 31,000 congregations and 7.5 million members, is the second largest predominantly black denomination in the Untied States.
The American Baptist College was founded almost a century ago and recently received designation as a Historically Black College and University. Many leaders and activists in the civil rights movement matriculated there, including renowned civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis (D-GA).
In addition to Bishop Flunder, two pastors who are advocates of same-sex marriage have been invited to share the platform with her.
The National Baptist Convention USA states with crystal clarity as positions on its website that “National Baptist endorsed chaplains, although serving in a pluralist environment, are not to participate in any activity that implies or condones same sex marriage or same sex union.” And, that “the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., affirms that marriage is a sacred biblical covenant between a man and a woman.”
The co-coordinators of the National Baptist Fellowship of Concerned Pastors, Reverends Dwight McKissic and Randy Vaughn, say that the invitation from American Baptist College President Forrest Harris to Bishop Flunder “trampled on the beliefs of the school’s founders.”
The pastor group expresses legitimate concern in their press release that no notice was provided to parents of the student body about the presentations that these advocates of same sex unions will make.
ABC President Harris has pushed back, defending his invitation of Bishop Flunder and criticizing the group of Concerned Pastors for “idolatry of the Bible,” which he defines as viewing the Bible as “synonymous with God and truth.”
But if Christianity is about eternal principles and truths, to where exactly does President Harris turn for these principles if not to the Bible? The New York Times? The Washington Post? MSNBC?
Particularly powerful about the Concerned Pastors’ press release is its focus on the whole country and not one particular ethnic group.
They expressed concern for “the state of our nation, our families, our churches, and our schools.”
Data overwhelmingly shows the correlation of family breakdown with poverty and social pathology.
Yet the percentage of American adults today that are married has declined to around 50 percent compared to over 70 percent in the 1960’s, at the time of the civil rights movement. Along with this we see dramatic increases in out-of-wedlock births and single parent households.
These pastors know that blacks are paying a particularly high price for the havoc that the moral relativism that has hijacked our national culture has wrought.
Now pastors are taking a stand. Enough. No more sitting quietly by as those posturing moral chaos as religion hijack our nation and our children.
These courageous black pastors are standing tall with truth so our nation may have a future.

Written by J. C. White
Bishop John C. White is a native of Brooklyn, New York. In his early years of ministry, he served as a Deacon at the Institutional Church of God in Christ, International and the Director of the world famous Institutional Radio Choir. His composition “Stretch Out” launched the Institutional Radio Choir on the road to popularity. J.C., as he is affectionately known, acknowledged his call to preach the Gospel and joined the quorum of ministers at the Institutional C.O.G.I.C., International.
In 1979, J.C., as an Elder and Assistant Pastor of the Institutional C.O.G.I.C., International was called to pastor at the Turner’s Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, International in Bridgeport, Connecticut. God continually blessed the ministry under the leadership of Elder White and he was soon elevated to the office of Bishop and given the States of Connecticut and Virginia as his jurisdictions. He later served as Chairman of the Board of Bishops and Vice- Presiding Prelate. In August, 2000 he was appointed Presiding Prelate of the Churches of God in Christ, International. Bishop White has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad preaching and teaching the Word of God, leading the lost to Christ and bringing the message of hope to the hopeless.
Bishop White holds an Honorary Doctorate of Sacred Music from the Pillar of Fire College in York, England for his many great musical accomplishments, a Doctorate of Divinity from the Eastern American University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and in June, 2007, Bishop White received his Doctorate of Theology from the North Carolina College of Theology. In 2006, the Lord led Bishop White to change the name of the church to Cathedral of Praise. The Lord has given Bishop White a Vision for Cathedral of Praise and the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut to build a new worship edifice (the new edifice is now complete and the first service was held Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008); an elementary school; a senior citizens high rise complex; a full-time day care center; a training center for ex-offenders; a halfway house; and a house for unwed teenage mothers. Bishop White has also established our International Bible School.
With a congregation of over four hundred members and a ministerial staff of over forty ministers, Bishop White has begun his quest to establish churches throughout the State of Connecticut. Affiliate churches are currently located in New Haven, Hartford, Bridgeport and Fairfield. God has spoken and confirmed the Ministry and the Vision.
Bishop White has been married to Lady Gloria White for over 55 years and together they have 5 children,13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
