The Flume Trail - Lake Tahoe
The Flume Trail is one of the most beautiful mountain bike trails in the Lake Tahoe area. I started at Spooner State Park. From here it is up, up and UP until you come to Marlette Lake. The Flume Trail goes along the rim with very nice views down to the lake and Sand Harbor. At the end of the trail it is a fast ride down to Incline Village. If you're in the area this is a trail not to be missed!

The Flume Trail - Lake Tahoe - Great Basin Bicycles - Reno - Nevada - California - Singletrack
This trail is internationally acclaimed. It is one of the most scenic trails ever. It is an old non functional water flume that has been turned into a hiking/biking trail that over looks Lake Tahoe. The views are stunning. This video is done all hand held with no music to keep to the natural sounds and feel of the trail. I tried to highlight the views and feeling of the trail.
Go to greatbasinbicycles.com for the free GPS topo map for this ride, and many others in the area.
The bikes being ridden are a Cannondale Scalpel and a Yeti Arc.

Flume Trail Lake Tahoe (Short Version)
The Flume is one of the most beautiful bike trails in the world. With the cliffs you get some of the most scenic views of Lake Tahoe, Sand Harbor is just below the trail about 1500 feet below.
The Flume was built in the 1870's to bring water from Marlett Lake to the mountain above Incline Village where lumber was hauled up the incline (where the name came from) and then down the lumber flume to the Carson Valley on the way to the Virginia City mines.
In the Video you can notice old lumber from the Flume and also a old aluminum pipe that brought water to Virginia City in the 1950's. The Flume started bringing water to Virginia City in I believe the 1880's when so many people died of bad water from the wells ( incluiding some of my ancestors).

Tahoe Flume Trail
This is one of the most scenic rides you can do in lake tahoe. We started up on the Incline flume trail in Incline Village, NV. and rolled south to the beautiful Marlette Lake and eventually all the way down to Spooner Lake.
Incline flume trail ----Tunnel creek road ----Marlette flume trail ---- Flume trail road---- North canyon road.
The trail is beginner/intermediate friendly, no technical stuff, very flowy. Just be careful on the few miles where theres a big drop and a spectacular view. Keep your eye on the trail when riding, and stop when you want to just take in the view.
Theres also a long ~4 mile downhill on a fire road (north canyon road), so check your brake pads!
Trailforks app listed this as 17.2 miles.

Flume Trail - Lake Tahoe - Best Mt. Bike-ride ever!
The Flume trail is Lake Tahoe's premiere mountain bike ride with outstanding views of Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. The spectacular views of the Lake and the surrounding basin from 1000' above the shoreline makes the Flume Trail one of the world's most scenic rides and def. the greatest ride I have ever been on.

Speed-Flying Lake Tahoe Nevada
Launch from Hernan Peak! Flying a Fazer 3 12m.
Found a couple videos of people flying this spot so I sent it. Absolutely amazing.
A little launch beta: (if you don't want to do the 5 mile hike around) park at Sand Harbor state park, and walk south (or get dropped off) to the small fire service building. There is a very faint trail that leads up and into the woods. You'll lose it multiple times, and find it again and again. I found this to be the path of least resistance. Eventually you'll get to a point where you leave this faint trail and just start bush whacking. There isn't much whacking just slippy pine needles. Basically follow the path of least resistance until you hit the flume trail. From this point on it's all super mellow.
