2013 10 27 - FAMIGLIA PERUGINA - VISITA PALAZZO ODDI A PERUGIA - VIA DEI PRIORI
E' stato aperto al pubblico il palazzo che appartenne alla nobile famiglia perugina degli Oddi, le cui origini risalgono al XII sec.
L'edificio fu costruito nel XVI sec. in seguito all'acquisizione da parte di Guido degli Oddi di una domus con una torre e un orto che ne permise l'erezione nel luogo dove sorgevano già in epoca medievale le abitazioni della famiglia.
Di questa prima fase resta a testimonianza soltanto il salone di piano terra elegantemente dipinto all'inizio del Seicento con storie dell'epopea familiare che raccontano la storia di una delle famiglie più importanti della città. Il palazzo nel Settecento subì notevoli modifiche che portarono ad un notevole ampliamento sull'asse frontale e alla costruzione di un nuovo piano ad uso della servitù.
Si deve agli interventi della nuova fabbrica anche la sistemazione del giardino e la realizzazione della facciata principale, terminata nel 1768. Sotto il profilo architettonico la facciata del palazzo unisce severità, imponeneza ed eleganza con evidenti marcapiani che ne delimitano il piano nobile e un bel portone di ingresso sul quale uno specchio in pietra reca la scritta Hostel delli Oddi.
Con il matrimonio di Maria Vittoria degli Oddi, ultima del ramo primogenito della famiglia, e Luigi Marini Clarelli, avvenuto nel 1881, il Palazzo cambia la sua denominazione. Nel 2007 per volontà testamentaria di Barbara Marini Clarelli, nipote di Maria Vittoria, è stata instituita la Fondazione Marini Clarelli Santi (legando al nome della Fondazione anche quello dell'amato marito, lo storico dell'arte Francesco Santi) allo scopo di rendere fruibile il palazzo, le prestigiose collezioni in esso contenute e l'archivio di famiglia.

Perugia is also a well-known cultural and artistic centre of Italy. The famous painter Pietro Vannucci, nicknamed Perugino, was a native of Città della Pieve, near Perugia. He decorated the local Sala del Cambio with a beautiful series of frescoes; eight of his pictures can also be admired in the National Gallery of Umbria.
Perugino was the teacher of Raphael, the great Renaissance artist who produced five paintings in Perugia (today no longer in the city) and one fresco. Another famous painter, Pinturicchio, lived in Perugia. Galeazzo Alessi is the most famous architect from Perugia. The city's symbol is the griffin, which can be seen in the form of plaques and statues on buildings around the city.
