A little look at downtown detroit and the Lion's stadium (NFL Team). After visiting over 200 cities in the USA, then ranks at the veryyy bottom of my list!! Once you step even one foot out of the main business district, you're welcomed with: abandoned buildings, gansters, please trying to sell you porn, pan handlers, convenience stores with glass barriers... It's just not a great place to be! Whoever sung Detroit, I love this city was obviously on crack! LOTS OF IT!
Downtown Detroit is the central business district and a residential area of the city of Detroit, Michigan, United States. Detroit is the major city in the larger Metro Detroit region. Downtown Detroit is bordered by M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to the west, Interstate 75 (I-75, Fisher Freeway) to the north, I-375 (Chrysler Freeway) to the east, and the Detroit River to the south. The city's main thoroughfare M-1 (Woodward Avenue) links Downtown to Midtown and New Center.
Downtown contains much historic architecture and many of the prominent skyscrapers in Detroit, including the Renaissance Center, the Penobscot Building, One Detroit Center, and the Guardian Building. Historic churches, theatres, and commercial buildings anchor the various downtown districts. Downtown has a number of parks including those linked by a promenade along the International Riverfront. Its central square is Campus Martius Park.

Detroit, Michigan - A City on the Rise
After years of decline, Detroit is now on the rise. Unlike many of the formerly Manufacturing cities of have declined and remain depressed, Detroit is rising up. We show this now beautiful city on the shores of the Detroit River in this Aerial & Ground tour of the Midwest's 2nd Largest City, only behind Chicago.

Detroit is older than our country, founded in 1701. The city grew largely to its automobile industry, but also fell with the automobile industry. Today, however the once bankrupt city is now rising with an explosive real estate market in the downtown corridor.
We feature the People Mover in this video which was opened in 1987. It is a monorail style 2.9 mile loop around downtown with 13 stops at a fare of 75 cents. We show Ford Field home of the Lions, and Comerica Park home of the Tigers. We had meant to also show Joe Louis Arena home of the Red Wings. It is right next to the Cobo Center, and we simply saw that and was thinking we had shot the arena but didn't.
The Renaissance Center is the most impressive and modern looking of the downtown Skyscrapers. It is the world head quarters of General Motors. It is so large it has its own Zip Code. 10,000 empolyees work in this building.

Recently I was in Detroit for a quick visit and fell in love with the city. Downtown Detroit is so full of life and has so much to offer. So please enjoy this walking tour of Downtown Detroit.

In recent years the downtown area has seen tremendous growth and redevelopment. Since 2000 a number of major construction projects have been completed including the new Compuware Headquarters at Campus Martius Park and two new stadiums: Comerica Park and Ford Field. General Motors moved their headquarters into the Renaissance Center, and the Detroit Lions have relocated from Pontiac to Downtown Detroit. High-profile events like the 2005 MLB All-Star Game, Super Bowl XL, and the 2006 and 2012 World Series have taken place in downtown, generating income for local businesses and spurring more growth.[1] As a result, new residents are moving into Detroit in the assortment of new lofts that are opening. An example of these trends is the Westin Book-Cadillac Hotel. In 2006, the Cleveland-based Ferchill Group began the $180 million redevelopment of the historic Book Cadlliac Hotel at the corner of Washington Blvd. and Michigan Avenue. The project, which has been hailed by preservationists houses a 455-room Westin Hotel, 67 high-end condominiums, and two to three restaurants, and some miscellaneous retail serving hotel and conference center guests. DTE Energy Headquarters features an urban oasis of parks, walkways, and a reflecting pool.[2]

Daniel Jones passes for 4 touchdowns at Ford Field in Detroit! Giants at Lions Gameday Vlog 2019
The Detroit Lions hosted the New York Giants at Ford Field on Sunday October 27th, 2019. Daniel Jones passed for 4 touchdowns while Matthew Stafford passed for 3. The Lions beat the Giants 31-26 as they move to 3-3-1 on the season. The New York Giants fell to 2-6. On this roadtrip I left Thursday night, went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton on Friday. Redwings game on Saturday night, and then the lions game on Sunday before driving 10 hours back home to New Jersey.

DETROIT: FORD PIQUETTE AVE. PLANT - BOSTON EDISON
Detroit is still known as the Motor City because of its history in car manufacturing and no story is more compelling than that of Henry Ford and the Model T. Well it al goes back to the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant.
The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is a former factory located within the Milwaukee Junction area of Detroit, Michigan, in the United States. Built in 1904, it was the second center of automobile production for the Ford Motor Company, after the Ford Mack Avenue Plant. At the Piquette Avenue Plant, the company created and first produced the Ford Model T, the car credited with initiating the mass use of automobiles in the United States. Prior to the Model T, several other car models were assembled at the factory. Early experiments using a moving assembly line to make cars were also conducted there. It was also the first factory where more than 100 cars were assembled in one day. While it was headquartered at the Piquette Avenue Plant, Ford Motor Company became the biggest U.S.-based automaker, and it would remain so until the mid-1920s. The factory was used by the company until 1910, when its car production activity was relocated to the new, bigger Highland Park Ford Plant.
Studebaker bought the factory in 1911, using it to assemble cars until 1933. The building was sold in 1936, going through a series of owners for the rest of the 20th century before becoming a museum in 2001. The Piquette Avenue Plant is the oldest purpose-built automotive factory building open to the public. The museum, which was visited by 18,000 people in 2016, has exhibits that primarily focus on the beginning of the United States automotive industry. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, became a Michigan State Historic Site in 2003, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006.
Detroit coal merchant Alexander Y. Malcomson, and a group of investors formed the Ford Motor Company on June 16, 1903, to assemble automobiles.[1]:10–11[2] The company's first car model, the original Ford Model A, began to be assembled that same month at the Ford Mack Avenue Plant, a rented wagon manufacturing shop in Detroit, Michigan.[1]:11–12 The company quickly outgrew this facility and, on April 10, 1904, bought a parcel of land off of Piquette Avenue in Detroit to accommodate a larger factory.[1]:12 The land was located in the Milwaukee Junction area, whose name is derived from a railroad junction within it.[1]:4, 12 The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant's construction started on May 10, 1904.[1]:12 The company moved into its new factory the following October.[1]:13
The Detroit-based architectural firm Field, Hinchman & Smith designed the Piquette Avenue Plant.[1]:9, 12 It is an example of late Victorian-style architecture and was modeled after New England textile mills.[1]:7[3] Designing factories based on this type of mill was common practice in the United States at the time.[4] The building is three stories high, 56 feet (17.1 m) wide, and 402 feet (122.5 m) long.[5][6] Its load-bearing exterior brick walls contain 355 windows, and its maple floors, supported by square oak beams and posts, cover 67,000 square feet (6,224.5 m2).[1]:7[7] The Piquette Avenue Plant contains two elevator-stairwell combinations, one located on its northwest corner and the other located on its southwest side.[1]:5, 7 Recalling a fire in March 1901 that destroyed the Olds Motor Works factory in Detroit, Henry Ford and the architects included a fire sprinkler system in the building's design, a rare feature for industrial buildings of the period.[8] This and several other original safety features in the factory, such as its firewalls, fire doors, and fire escapes, are still present.[1]:7[8] Water for the sprinkler system was supplied by a wooden water tank located on the building's roof.[1]:5 A brick powerhouse, measuring 36 feet (11.0 m) wide by 57 feet (17.4 m) long, was the original electricity provider for the factory, and was located near its northwest corner.[1]:4, 12–13 The water tank and powerhouse no longer exist.[1]:4–5
