Kanakakkunnu palace
Kanakakkunnu palace located about 800 meters north east of the Napier Museum in the heart of Trivandrum city, Kanakakunnu Palace is one of the last architectural vestiges of the colonial era. Built during the reign of Travancore king Sree Moolam Thirunal (1885−1924), the palace served as the main venue for royal banquets. Later Swathi Thirunal, one of Travancore’s popular rulers, refurbished the palace and constructed tennis courts in the premises. He also did use it for a few years as a summer retreat. Boasting a Kerala style facade, the Travancore royal family used the house to entertain guests. Inside you will see massive crystal chandeliers and an array of exquisite pieces of royal furniture – a testimony to the lavish lifestyle of the Thirunal kings who had a penchant for music and art. Add to it a picturesque setting on the crest of a small hill lush with meadows, grooves and flowering shrubs.
Now under the Kerala government’s wing, the palace complex walls-in the Nishagandhi open-air auditorium and Sooryakanthi auditorium. A popular haunt of culture vultures in the city, the auditoriums are the venues for various cultural meets and programs. The prestigious All India Dance Festival aka Nishagandhi festival is hosted annually by the Department of Tourism at the Nishagandhi open-air auditorium. Indian classical dance exponents from across the country come down to participate in the festival.

A Trip to Agasthyarkoodam Day-1 | അഗസ്ത്യകൂടം | Monsoon Media's Travel Stories
Agasthyamala trucking video by Monsoon Media Day-1
Agasthyarkoodam (Malayalam: അഗസ്ത്യകൂടം) (also known as Agathiyar Malai or Agasthyakoodam) is a 1,868-metre (6,129 ft) tall peak within Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats of South India in Trivandrum and Tirunelveli Districts of South India. The mountain lies on the border between the Indian states of Kerala (in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram district) and Tamil Nadu (in Kanyakumari district, Tirunelveli district).
Agasthyarkoodam is located 32 km from Neyyar Dam. The major city and airport nearest to Agasthyarkoodam is Thiruvananthapuram(Trivandrum) and its Trivandrum International Airport, around 61 km away. The nearest railway station is Ambasamudram, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu. There is a trekking path, nearly 32 km, from Bonacaud Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve is part of the Agasthyarkoodam range. Part of the peak can be seen from the Upper Kodayar region. The lower elevations of this peak are also known for their abundance of rare herbs and medicinal plants. Around 2,000 medicinal plants used in Ayurvedic treatments are found here. Europeans, particularly those from England, were the first to establish tea gardens around the base stations of the mountain at Brimore, Bonacaud, and Ponmudi.
The Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve harbours rare flora and fauna. Tourists are permitted to the area only with permission from the forest department of Kerala. Annual trekking passes to the peak are issued from the forest department during January--February only. Other major rivers which originate from the mountain are the Karamana River, which flows through the Thiruvananthapuram district and is the major source of drinking water to the city, and the Neyyar River (also in the Thiruvananthapuram district).

Chittippara Vithura Thiruvananthapuram/ അനന്തപുരിയുടെ മീശപ്പുലിമലയിലേക്കൊരു യാത്ര
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Realising the tourism potential of Chittipara, a rock located in Vithura village, the Tholicode panchayat has decided to submit a proposal to the tourism department to consider making it a tourism destination. We had submitted a request to the tourism department three years ago. Since there was no response so far, we have decided to put forward a detailed request to the department next month, said Shamna Navas, Tholicode panchayat president. Chittipara's beauty had gone viral on social media platforms early this month. Many tourists have been visiting the rock perched on a hill close to the Iruthalamoola Junction, since then.
However, weathering of the rocks in Chittipara is a threat to the safety of tourists visiting 'Chittipara'. Two years ago, a side of the rock had fallen off. Residents were asked to move out ci safety reasons, said Vijayan, a villager. The place is, however, blessed with a rocky terrain as it is the preferred choice for trekking and rock climbing. We want to make this place an adventure tourism spot. There are several possibilities for rock climbing, roping and trekking, said Jayakumar, ward member, Tholicode.
