East Haven Connecticut (CT) Real Estate Tour
Tour East Haven, CT neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
East Haven, Connecticut is a suburb of New Haven on the state's southwestern coast. First settled by Puritans in 1638, New Haven boasts an illustrious history spanning nearly four centuries. In its early years, the settlement then known as East Farms was considered a parish of the New Haven Colony. The first Connecticut Ironworks was established along Lake Saltonstall, then known as Lonotononket. In 1665, the New Haven Colony merged with the Connecticut Colony under a charter from King Charles II. The ironwork mill proved a success and the area subsequently became known as Iron Works Village.
After two decades of unsuccessful petitions from the nascent community, the Connecticut Colony finally granted township status to Iron Works Village in 1707, at which point the name was changed to East Haven. Though land disputes and a small feud with Governor Saltonsall resulted in the rescinding of East Haven's township status soon thereafter, the area carved out its own distinct identity over the course of the next century. East Haven was formally incorporated as a town in 1785.
The site of a major attack by British forces during the Revolutionary War, East Haven's Black Rock Fort was re-fortified by the United States government in the early 1800's. Renamed Fort Nathan Hale in honor of a Connecticut patriot, the fort successfully defended the area from British raids during the War of 1812. The emergence of industry in the 19th century brought a major influx of new residents, the bulk of whom were Irish and Italian immigrants seeking jobs in the factories.
After World War II, East Haven saw another population boom as families began to migrate from the cities to rural and suburban areas. With the construction of Interstate 95, which ran through the center of town, in 1951, East Haven's population nearly doubled between 1945 and 1960.
Today, East Haven is both a close-knit residential suburb and a center of industry and commerce in its own right, with several retail establishments along Route 1 and State Route 80 and two industrial parks adjacent to Tweed-New Haven Airport. Major redevelopment efforts began in East Haven during the 1970s, with the establishment of East Haven Mall, a town Athletic Complex and a swimming pool at the High School. New development efforts began in 2004 with a focus on the restoration of East Haven's classic New England ambiance. For other town tours visit . For towns in CT visit .

Tour of Theaters in New Haven, CT
Theater in New Haven – one of the areas we serve when it comes to buying or selling a home.
A vacant stage, lighted only by a single bulb and awaiting the actors who will enthrall and entertain, the empty seats soon to be filled by audiences who will lose themselves in the drama and merriment which will follow. Such is the anticipation that is live, professional theater, and it is how we have chosen to depict three gems of New Haven:
The Yale Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre and The Shubert Theater. Picture yourself there, peruse the performance schedules and visit all three. We’re lucky to have them. And now, house lights low. Curtain up. We’re about to begin.
