Fort Mountain State Park - Chatsworth, Georgia
Fort Mountain State Park features a large stone wall, 4 story stone tower and a scenic overlook. Fort Mountain has an elevation of 2851 ft. and is located in the Cohutta Mountains.
The stone tower was built in the 1930's and was closed to public access at the time I was there. The West Overlook had some nice views, but there were storms in the area today, so no long range views.

I turned around before getting into Ellijay. The ride back over coming next.
this Ninja has so much torque, for the majority of this run I stay in 3rd gear.
Almost didn't bring the GoPro. Was looking to just find some new roads and try to get lost on a Saturday afternoon.
Only the second time I've been on this road, and less than 4000 miles on a street bike after 20+ years off. Please be kind if critiquing my skills :-)
Showing the road.

Cohutta Wilderness & Fort Mountain State Park, Amazed
I have travelled much in the southeast United States. North Georgia is as good as any place I have found. It exemplifies Gods glory as good as any place I have been. If you want an encounter with your Creator North Georgia is as good a place as any to experience His awesome wonder. This was a Spring trip. A fall Foliage trip to North Georgia has made its way onto my Bucket List. Fall is the most scenic time to visit the mountains of any region. Spring is great, but I shall fall for Him!!! God is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No.8 Road less Traveled // Hickey Gap
Nimbus
On a hike near you so stay tuned.
Description:
What”s good gang. This has been my camping experience at the hickey gap camp grounds (Crandall, Ga). I hope you guys could relate to the vibe. Its a nice quick hike for anyone looking for an easy hike with a good reward. Honestly the graveled road takes longer to get through then the trail if you don’t have an off road vehicle. The pin drop takes you to the gravel road that you have to follow straight till you see the campground sign (on your right hand side about 5 miles in). From there you can either make the right and go down the steep hill to the campsites or you can park off to the side for the day use parking (day use parking fits about 2 cars). Keep in mind that their are only 5 campsites and due tend to get taking pretty early. So don’t expect to come out late in the day and expect to secure a spot. They tend to get taking every weekend since they are free and first come first served, so plan to make it out early to guarantee a spot. The campsites are kinda close quarters with all 5 campsites (4 riverside and one woodland site) being within eyesight from either location. Still they are far enough away for everyone for one to enjoy their own privacy at their own personal bonfires. They provide two sets of bear proof trashcans so their is no excuse to leave a trace. This location has options of either heading down stream to the main attraction (the water falls that you can swim at) and to the rock slide or up stream up a scenic trail to the gravel road. As for the trails themselves they are well maintained and wide, up until the main waterfall. From their its highly recommend to not take the strenuous and unreliable rundown trail to the rock slide. It seems there might be a different trail that connects to the main road, so keep a look out on the way in if you want to experience that final waterfall. The upstream trail just offers a nice walk through the woods up until the road. Beyond that the trail again begins to be hard to manage so precede at your own discretion. I only recommend crossing the road if your an experienced hiker. To recap their both short trails with only one easy access waterfall and a road less traveled rock slide with very scenic trails leading to and from the falls. As for the campgrounds their big enough for either 4 small tents or 2 big tents to fit comfortably. The parking is very limited which probably only fits 3 cars without taking up part of the road. Firewood is not hard to find, with the surrounding woods having ample dead stuff, to keep you supplied for the night. For our experience there were pre-cut logs scattered around the campsites. They might provide that service or it might just have been a lucky occasion. The equipment I used was ozark which is good affordable gear for last minute people or for any starter pack setups. Everything I got for the weekend was around $60, which ranged from purchases of $6-$22, which is available at your local walmart. All round it was a nice beginner spot for a small campground. I highly recommend it for anyone in need of a weekend getaway to refuel on positive vibes.

Cherokee Indian buildings from the early 1800's
Link to photos available as digital downloads for personal use only.
During the 1800's, the Cherokee Indians lived in hand crafted log buildings and farmed the land. The capital of the Cherokee Nation was located in New Echhota in the North Georgia Mountains. They lived in peace until the Trail of Tears when they were relocated to Oklahoma in 1831. A sad time in American History. You will see these farmstead buildings that have been preserved. You will see the two story brick home that belonged to Chief Vann. It was almost destroyed on purpose after Chief Vann was removed from his home, but today it stands in a Georgia State Historic Park near Chatsworth, Georgia, New Echota is a few miles south. I have converted all my photos to old time sepia for the time period. Photos are from winter and summer. Sit back and relax to the music and step back in time. Most photos will be available for sale on my Websites.
Ancient Stone Wall, Fort Mountain, Georgia
Built around the top of a mountain, in a horseshoe shape. This ancient fortification was built in 400AD, though the precise date is unknown. This ancient wall has left archaeologists mystified as to the original builders of this stone structure.
