Deputy Dragged During DWI Traffic Stop
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Dash camera video from a Williamson County patrol car appears to show a deputy being dragged as a car speeds away from a traffic stop.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s office said the suspect was arrested and is in custody. The incident happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday, and shortly before 8 a.m. Sheriff Robert Chody tweeted video of the incident, calling out the “highly intoxicated driver in possession of harmless marijuana & harmless cough syrup (sarcasm),” saying that person “nearly killed one of my deputies.”
The video shows the car stopped near the SH 45 toll and County Road 172. The female deputy can be heard asking the driver if he is OK and needs EMS. The driver declined. The deputy took his keys and put them on the roof. The man appeared to have difficulty following her instructions to hand her his license and proof of insurance.
“I don’t have it,” the driver says, before taking out a second set of keys, turning on the car, pressing down on the gas and then putting the car in drive. The sheriff’s office said the deputy had reached in to grab the keys out of the ignition when he took off.
The video appears to show the deputy being dragged along the road away from the camera as she calls for backup and yells for the driver to stop.
“You have my foot, you have my foot” she can be heard saying as another patrol car heads their way. They drove about a half a mile before she was able to use a Taser on him and put the car on park.
The sheriff’s office confirmed she is OK and has no injuries. Chody added his deputies showed “great restraint when deadly force could have been used.”

November 4, 2019 | In his 2019 Letter to the U.S. Bishops, Pope Francis reminds us that “we are not solitary pilgrims, for ‘If one member suffers, all suffer together.’” The twin crises of clergy sexual abuse and leadership failure in the Catholic Church have led to horrific suffering for countless victim-survivors and for the entire Catholic community. In June 2019 the Initiative invited over 50 key Catholic leaders from across the nation to explore how to turn our anger and anguish into protection, accountability, reform, and renewal.
At this dialogue, the leaders of the Initiative shared publicly 10 essential directions for reform and renewal developed at the unique National Leadership Convening. They also led a discussion on where we are now, what has been learned, what needs to be done, and how lay leaders and bishops need to step up to repair the damage, restore trust, and revitalize the Church’s role in public life.
This important conversation included a victim-survivor who persuaded Pope Francis to act on abuse; a bishop who reported one of his predecessors to authorities; a leading journalist reporting on the crisis; a university president who has voiced the anguish of Washington Catholics; an advisor to the Vatican; a victim-survivor who worked for the United States bishops for decades; and a Jesuit priest who is a survivor and has treated both victims and perpetrators.
A week before the U.S. bishops gathered for their annual meeting in Baltimore, this dialogue focused on several continuing questions and challenges:
Where are we now after revelations regarding Theodore McCarrick, Michael J. Bransfield, and other Church leaders; after responses by the Vatican and U.S. bishops; after the new policies established by Vos Estis Lux Mundi and with Buffalo and other developing stories?
What needs to be done by the U.S. bishops, by Pope Francis and the Vatican, and by lay women and men?
How can laypeople hold accountable, work with, engage, and challenge Church leadership?
How can the Church’s voice for human life and dignity, justice and peace, and care for creation make a difference at a time of ecclesial scandal and national polarization?

How many people do you know who have died mysteriously or of a bizarre suicide, or have been beaten to death or murdered in a hail of bullets, how about someone who committed suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head?
For most of us the answer is none, but if you are Bill and Hillary Clinton, the answer to that question is at least 56 – and possibly more.
1 – James McDougal – Clinton’s convicted Whitewater partner died of an apparent heart attack, while in solitary confinement. He was a key witness in Ken Starr’s investigation.
2 – Mary Mahoney – A former White House intern was murdered July 1997 at a Starbucks Coffee Shop in Georgetown. The murder happened just after she was to go public with her story of sexual harassment in the White House.
3 – Vince Foster – Former white House counselor, and colleague of Hillary Clinton at Little Rock’s Rose Law firm. Died of a gunshot wound to the head, ruled a suicide.
4 – Ron Brown – Secretary of Commerce and former DNC Chairman. Reported to have died by impact in a plane crash. A pathologist close to the investigation reported that there was a hole in the top of Brown’s skull resembling a gunshot wound. At the time of his death Brown was being investigated, and spoke publicly of his willingness to cut a deal with prosecutors.
5 – C. Victor Raiser II and Montgomery Raiser, Major players in the Clinton fund raising organization died in a private plane crash in July 1992.
6 – Paul Tulley – Democratic National Committee Political Director found dead in a hotel room in Little Rock, September 1992… Described by Clinton as a “Dear friend and trusted advisor.”
7- Ed Willey – Clinton fund raiser, found dead November 1993 deep in the woods in VA of a gunshot wound to the head. Ruled a suicide. Ed Willey died on the same day his wife Kathleen Willey claimed Bill Clinton groped her in the oval office in the White House. Ed Willey was involved in several Clinton fundraising events.
8 – Jerry Parks – Head of Clinton’s gubernatorial security team in Little Rock. Gunned down in his car at a deserted intersection outside Little Rock. Park’s son said his father was building a dossier on Clinton. He allegedly threatened to reveal this information. After he died the files were mysteriously removed from his house.
9 – James Bunch – Died from a gunshot suicide. It was reported that he had a “Black Book” of people which contained names of influential people who visited prostitutes in Texas and Arkansas.
10 – James Wilson – Was found dead in May 1993 from an apparent hanging suicide. He was reported to have ties to Whitewater.
11- Kathy Ferguson, ex-wife of Arkansas Trooper Danny Ferguson, was found dead in May 1994, in her living room with a gunshot to her head. It was ruled a suicide even though there were several packed suitcases, as if she were going somewhere. Danny Ferguson was a co-defendant along with Bill Clinton in the Paula Jones lawsuit. Kathy Ferguson was a possible corroborating witness for Paula Jones.
12 – Bill Shelton – Arkansas State Trooper and fiancee of Kathy Ferguson. Critical of the suicide ruling of his fiancee, he was found dead in June, 1994 of a gunshot wound also ruled a suicide at the grave site of his fiancee.

Golden's High Country Railroad - 2 Foot Gauge Construction Shay
In 1986 several members of Utah's Lunatic Fringe borrowed a 2 foot gauge Shay steam locomotive and screwed around on Golden Colorado's High Country Railroad.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
At the 1986 Denver Narrow Gauge Convention the O Scale Guys from Salt Lake City were foolishly given control of an AMAZING 2 foot gauge Lima Shay steam locomotive built for heavy construction projects like dams or roads, and they taught themselves how to run the little gem.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The High Country Railroad was originally a 3 foot gauge railroad and ran Rio Grand Southern #42, now on display in the museum in Durango Colorado. The railroad was part of Heritage Square, once called Magic Mountain, and amusement park in Golden Colorado not far from the Colorado Railroad Museum and the Narrow Gauge Motel. The railroad was rebuilt to 2 foot gauge and featured 4 steam and 2 diesel locomotives. Most of the equipment was owned by Ed Gerlits, however several others keep their toys there. They also had a passenger car off of the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad in Maine.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The railroad was removed, and soon rebuilt as a smaller 15 inch gauge estate railroad.
Bike-Packing New River Trail State Park, Virginia
55 Mile Solo Bikepacking New River Trail, Galax to Pulaski, Virginia
New River Trail State Park is a 57 mile linear park that lies along an abandonded railroad line. It is Virginia's longest linear state park. The centerpiece of the park is the New River Trail itself, which runs from the City of Galax on the southern end to the Town of Pulaski on the northern end. There is also a spur trail that leads to the Town of Fries. The trail lies in Carroll, Grayson, Wythe, and Pulaski Counties as well as the independent City of Galax. There are numerous access points along the length of the trail. Primitive camping is available at several campgrounds which can be accessed on foot/bike/horse, or via the river. None of the campgrounds are directly accessible to vehicles. The park contains 3 main bridges across the New River as well as dozens of smaller bridges and trestles, 2 hand dug tunnels, numerous historical sites and other points of interest, and stunning scenery. Biking and horseback riding a the most popular activities in the park. Fishing, kayaking, and tubing on the river are also popular.
The railroad was built in the late 1800s and served many industries that thrived in the New River valley, including furniture manufacturing, logging, iron mining, steel manufacturing, and others. By the late 1980s most of those industries had moved offshore or had shut down completely, and the railroad line was abandoned.
Despite the name, the New River is actually the oldest river in North America, and the second oldest in the world. It is also one of the few rivers that flow north. The New River begins in western North Carolina, flows across southwest Virginia and into West Virginia, where it joins the Gauley River to form the Kanawha River. The New River was originally known as Woods River until settlers re-named in the 1700s.
On my visit. I left my vehicle at the Dora Junction trail head and arranged for a shuttle down to Galax. I entered the park at Galax Station and rode 3.5 miles to the Cliffview Campground and spend the first night there. On Day 2 I rode about 28 miles to Foster Falls, where I stayed another night at the Millrace Campground. On Day 3 I completed the trail by riding about 23.5 miles to Pulaski. On this trip, I opted to skip the 5.5 mile Fries Spur Trail. This was my first ever bike-packing trip. It was a successful and fun trip. Thanks for watching!
