WHERE IS PROSTITUTION LEGAL IN NEVADA?
Many people are under the false belief that solicitation and prostitution are legal across Nevada. In fact, prostitution is illegal in Nevada except for a in licensed and regulated brothels in a few rural counties.
Nevada law prohibits prostitution in counties with 400,000 or more residents. This disqualifies Clark County, which includes Las Vegas. And the local governments of Douglas, Lincoln, and Washoe Counties and Carson City have banned prostitution as well. Police in these areas often conduct undercover sting operations to bust people engaging in or soliciting prostitution.
Legal prostitution may occur only in licensed brothels in the remaining Nevada counties that have not outlawed prostitution. The following are some rules that licensed brothels must abide by:
• Nevada brothel prostitutes have to submit to regular HIV and STD testing.
• Nevada brothel prostitutes must use condoms.
• Nevada brothels cannot be near a school or a church.
• Nevada brothels cannot be on a principal street.
• Nevada brothels cannot advertise in counties that prohibit prostitution.
In addition, sex workers must be employed by Nevada brothels by their own free will. They have to be adults, hold work cards, and get paid fair wages for their services in Nevada.
Currently, there are about two-dozen brothels throughout eight Nevada counties. Recently, Nevada law has been changed to permit male prostitutes to work in licensed brothels as well.
WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES FOR SOLICITATION?
Nevada judges often hand down stricter sentences to prostitutes than to customers. This is because prostitutes are often repeat-offenders with extensive criminal records. Meanwhile, many johns have never been arrested before.
Prostitution and solicitation are charged as misdemeanors in Nevada. People convicted of prostitution face of fines of up to $1,000, and/or up to 6 months in jail.

With regard to handguns, if you are entitled to possess a gun in Nevada, you may possess a loaded gun in your vehicle. But if you are carrying the gun on your body, the gun must be visible unless you have a CCW.
It is unlawful to carry a loaded rifle or loaded shotgun in a vehicle except if you are a paraplegic, you are a police officer going to your workplace, or you are member of the armed services going to and from duty. (NRS 503.165)
Another exception is that you are not allowed to possess firearms in a school zone.
There are certain parks in Nevada that are federally controlled...such as Lake Mead and Red Rock...and where you are not allowed to possess a firearm.
If you are pulled over and you have a firearm, it is important not to make any type of furtive movement that the officer could interpret as a threat. It is better to leave the seatbelt on so that the officer does not feel threatened.

The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is situated at One Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States. A piece of the Fremont Street Experience, it is the most seasoned and littlest lodging (106 rooms) on the Fremont Street Experience.
The lodging picked up its present name in 1955 when a gathering of Italian-Americans from San Francisco Bay Area began the Golden Gate Casino. The 106-room, four-story inn was revamped in 2005. In 1965, the lodging's outside was canvassed in aluminum siding, which stayed until its evacuation in 1990.
In March 2008, proprietor Mark Brandenberg sold a half enthusiasm for the property to Desert Rock Enterprises, the venture organization of Derek and Greg Stevens, who additionally possessed the Las Vegas 51s baseball group and a 19% stake in the Riviera gambling club. With new cash injected by the Stevens, the Golden Gate attempted gambling club redesigns and lodging room remodels. The next year, the Stevens raised their stake to 60%, and Derek assumed control as CEO, with Brandenburg as president.
In 2012, the Golden Gate started its first real remodel in over 50 years, gutting the old piano bar region and vintage lodging anteroom region for a more open and current look, including sparsely clad ladies at the wagering tables known as moving merchants. The $12 million remodel incorporates a 35,000-square-foot, five-story inn tower with 14 new suites and two penthouses, another porte cochere, new registration and opening club work areas, extension of the gambling club floor and included a high farthest point gaming zone.
Greg and Derek Stevens turned out to be full proprietors of Golden Gate in 2016.
In February 2017, development started on an extension to the Golden Gate's gambling club. The development will take Golden Gate's impression into the space once in the past possessed by the La Bayou gambling club.
On Feb. 7, 2017, Du-standard's Restaurant and Bakery shut because of money related reasons. Du-standard's was claimed by Biff Naylor, child of one of Golden Gate's unique proprietors, Tiny Naylor.

☢ Nevada Radioactive Waste Facility Fire Close to Las Vegas - October 2015 - Update #3

It could be some time before officials know what caused a fire at a low-level radioactive waste dump in Nye County that shut down a 140-mile stretch of Nevada's main north-south highway for almost 24 hours.
U.S. Highway 95 reopened to traffic Monday evening after tests conducted from the air and on the ground showed no signs of radioactive contamination from the blaze that broke out Sunday afternoon at the US Ecology waste site about 110 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
In a conference call Monday night, State Fire Marshal Chief Peter Mulvihill said investigators would be taking a close and methodical look at the site once it is safe to go down there.
He said it's still too early to know what might have sparked the fire, which was reported about 1 p.m. Sunday in one of the site's low-level radioactive waste disposal trenches and was allowed to burn itself out over the course of about 12 hours.
Concerns about possible contamination from the fire prompted authorities to cancel school in the nearest town of Beatty and close U.S. 95 from state Route 160, about 70 miles northwest of Las Vegas, to the Nye County seat of Tonopah, 210 miles northwest of Las Vegas, about 7 p.m. Sunday.
US Ecology officials said they created an exclusion zone around the facility at the request of state regulators, but storms in the area Sunday night delayed efforts to survey the site from the air.
Federal aircraft that can detect radioactive particles conducted flights Monday morning, followed by a detection team on the ground that started in Beatty, 10 miles to the north, and worked its way to the waste facility.
Once it was determined that the fire was out and the surrounding area was safe from radioactive contamination, the highway was reopened about 5:30 p.m. Monday, releasing a flood of vehicles that had been trapped overnight in Beatty.
Mike Harmon, chief of the local volunteer fire department, said all of the motel rooms in town were filled with stranded travelers, and a line of vehicles a half-mile long was waiting at the road block for the highway to reopen.
He guessed there were 30 to 40 tractor-trailers parked along the road and packed into various parking lots in the town of about 1,000 people.
It's pretty full, Harmon said.
Before the fire, flooding on roads throughout the area had already prompted the Nye County School District to cancel classes Monday in Amargosa Valley, about 20 miles south of US Ecology. The two public schools in Beatty were closed Monday as a precautionary response to the fire, said Cameron McRae, the district's director of transportation, maintenance and operations.
All Nye County schools were expected to open Tuesday.
The US Ecology site has served as a dump for low-level radioactive waste and other hazardous materials since the early 1960s.
From 1983 to 1992, solid low-level radioactive waste primarily from hospitals and university research labs was buried there in dirt-covered trenches. It came from Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico, the states that make up the Rocky Mountain Low-Level Radioactive Waste Board compact, according to Leonard Slosky, the board's executive director.
US Ecology stopped accepting radioactive waste in 1992, but it still takes in about 100,000 tons of hazardous waste per year from out-of-state and in-state sources.
A fire in one of the disposal trenches or in a facility near them would be very unusual because there are supposed to be no ignition sources in or around the waste, Slosky said.
Mulvihill said the fire burned a 40-to-50-foot area of the 40-acre site on state-owned land.
As part of their investigation, state officials said they will be looking at the overall stability of the more than 50-year-old dump.
The fire prompted a coordinated emergency response from Nye County and from Nevada's Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol, State Fire Marshal, National Guard, Department of Transportation, and Division of Environment Protection.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency also sent an on-scene coordinator to the site.
In 2010, the EPA fined US Ecology nearly $500,000 for 18 hazardous waste violations.
Reports on the violations said that on at least two occasions operators observed smoke coming from a soils decontamination heating unit that resulted in the release of hazardous compounds into the air.
Inspectors also noted six spills, leaks or other uncontrolled PCB discharges between 2006 and 2008 that weren't reported as required by law, according to an EPA news release in 2010.
PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, are toxic, organic pollutants that persist in the environment. They were once widely used in electrical transformers and capacitors but are no longer produced in the United States.

The city anchors the Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area and is the largest city within the greater Mojave Desert. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. It is the leading financial, commercial, and cultural center for Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated activities. It is a top three destination in the United States for business conventions and a global leader in the hospitality industry, claiming more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any city in the world. Today, Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations. The city's tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos.
Las Vegas was settled in 1905 and officially incorporated in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, it was the most populated American city founded within that century (a similar distinction earned by Chicago in the 1800s). Population growth has accelerated since the 1960s, and between 1990 and 2000 the population nearly doubled, increasing by 85.2%. Rapid growth has continued into the 21st century, and according to a 2013 estimate, the population is 603,488 with a regional population of 2,027,828.
Las Vegas is often used to describe areas beyond official city limits—especially the areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip, which is actually located within the unincorporated communities of Paradise, Winchester, and Enterprise.
Las Vegas Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is a stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard in Clark County, Nevada, known for its concentration of resort hotels and casinos. The Strip is approximately 4.2 miles (6.8 km) in length, located immediately south of the Las Vegas city limits in the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester. However, the Strip is often referred to as being in Las Vegas. Most of the Strip has been designated an All-American Road, and is considered a scenic route at night. Many of the largest hotel, casino, and resort properties in the world are located on the Las Vegas Strip. Fourteen of the world's 25 largest hotels by room count are on the Strip, with a total of over 62,000 rooms.
One of the most visible aspects of Las Vegas' cityscape is its use of dramatic architecture and lights. The rapidly evolving skyline and constant modernization of hotels, casinos, restaurants, residential high-rises, and entertainment offerings on the Strip, have established it as one of the most popular destinations for tourists in the United States, and the world.
