A park in Paris, in the twelfth arrondissement (the administrative districts), to 51 of the Rue de Bercy (48°50'13.20N - 2°22'55.88E), familiarly shortened already by the Parisians Le 51, embraces the new center of the Cinémathèque Française that has officially opened in 2005 and planned by Frank Owen Gehry The center can count on four rooms perfectly equipped from the 16 millimeters to the digital video, even with a twelve orchestral hole in case there is to be accompanied a mute film. Eight floor and three undergrounds: the external structure was projected by Gehry, with its traditional joint volumes, the intern has been abundantly elaborated again for suiting it for the new demands. The building of Gehry initially destined to entertain the American cultural representation was closed, has been in relief from the French State in which has invested more than 35 million Euro for the adaptation, to which they are to add the 25 spent for buying the property. In this way they have found space four rooms: three devoted to the programming (of 415 places, of 199 and of 94) and one, of 83 places, reserved to the didactic activities. To these are added the ambient of the Library of the Film, and two great museum areas (one, called Passion cinéma, in which we can find the most famous as the automaton of Metropolis or the gears in which Charlot falls down in Modern Times, the other smaller rooms for the new acquisitions) and above all, to the fifth floor, a real expositive gallery, that will entertain shows where the art weaves him with the cinema. The projections for quantity and quality turn it into a kind of eternal marvelous source of cinema. It begins to midday and a half, to offer to the students and the employees of the numerous offices of the zone, the occasion of a break lunch some different from the usual one, and it continues up to late evening in all the three rooms. An average of fifty projections a week, that ago more or less 2.500 projections a year.

France's biggest ever mural unveiled
If it's grand artistic statements you're after, it's hard to beat the French. Artist Andre Inglot is about to enter the record books as the man responsible for the biggest ever painting in France with a mural for the French department store chain Galeries Lafayette. The giant mural is the result of weeks of painstaking work by Inglot at his studio in the Normandy town of Honfleur. Measuring more than 1,100 metres square, the one tonne mural, which depicts the silhouette of a woman applying a tube of lipstick, required more than 250 kilograms of paint. It's a task that has required the utmost precision. Working from an image of a few square feet, Inglot has blown it up more than 300 times. Inglot - well known in the French art world for his monumental art works - has exhibited paintings in many top galleries in France, Germany and Holland. He's perhaps best known for his depiction of a swelling ocean on a canvas hung on the front of the National Museum of Brest.

FRANCE: HERMES FASHION HOUSE TO UNVEIL FALL / WINTER COLLECTION
French/Nat
The French design house, Hermes, is about to unveil its ready-to-wear fall/winter collection in Paris.
But the company's main claim to fame is not couture but a small silk square - the famous Hermes scarf.
Sought after all over the world, each scarf can feature as many 40 different colours.
Hermes has become one of French fashion's most famous names.
Shoppers flock to the Paris store from all over the world to snap up one of fashion's must-haves - the Hermes silk scarf.
Or maybe just to look and touch.
Le carre Hermes (the Hermes square) will set you back around 300 U-S dollars.
But the company hasn't always been a fashion house.
It was set up by Thierry Hermes in 1837 as a saddle and harness business.
But when cars came along, Hermes went into haute couture.
Still a family firm, it spotted the role scarves and accessories could play.
Away from the stylish boutique, the hard work is done at this factory in Lyon.
Scarves like this one, called the New Orleans, are designed in Paris but printed here.
A different printing screen is used to print each colour separately.
If a scarf has 30 colours, 30 screens are made.
SOUNDBITE: (In French)
As soon as there are colours and designs, it has to be an kind of artistic job. Any one who does not consider this job as an artistic job, can not stay here.
SUPER CAPTION: Roger Marrocco, Production Supervisor
Preparing the dyes is also an elaborate task.
Hermes mixes its own colours and its range includes 67-thousand different shades.
SOUNDBITE: (In French)
As Hermes is very demanding, we have become experts in printing silk the way it is traditionally done in Lyon. We can print up to 40 different colours on the same scarf.
SUPER CAPTION: Jacques Tankere, Director Hermes factory, Lyon
Last year, nearly a (m) million silk scarves were made in Lyon.
Two hundred and fifty silk cocoons are woven to make a 35-inch silk scarf.
Hermes was the first silk importer in France and the second in Europe.

Exploring art supply stores in Paris {magasin Sennelier}
We walked along the banks of La Siene, about an 8 minute stroll from Musée du Louvre. From across the busy street you see a forest green facade with gold letters SENNELIER that adorn the door.
As you enter you feel the presence of all the great artists..Cezanne and Picssso were among the artists who developed products for this art supplier. Founded in 1887, Magasin Sennelier is the oldest art supply shop in Paris.
You can see and feel the rich history within the jam packed wooden cabinets and shelves. It’s full of inspiration at every turn.
You’ll find a large amount of pigments for paint making from France, Italy, Japan, the US and Canada...PLUS paints, pastels, oil sticks, canvases, papers, inks, pens, tool, calligraphy supplies and brushes. I could have spent hours in there.
I was excited to find my Strathmore Mixed Media Pads on their shelves.
come with me in a virtual tour of this amazing artist haven..a must see when you are in Paris!

Industrial Architecture - Travel in Paris 4
So you think you know Paris? The City of Light, a centre of art and culture, home to the legendary French lover -- but what about its industrial heritage? It's richer than you might think!
Here's an introduction to the works of Paul Friesé (1851-1917), an engineer from Alsace, who made a huge -- though little known -- contribution to the industrial architecture of the city.
Question: What was the original function of the building now occupied by Exacpomta Clairefontaine?
