Whitman Mission National Historic Site
This historical former mission site is located on the old Oregon Trail near Walla Walla in southeastern Washington. It was here in 1847 when Presbyterian missionaries Dr. Marcus and Narcissa Whitman, along with several other settlers, were assassinated by the local Cayuse Native American tribe, who blamed the missionaries for a Measles outbreak that wiped out most of the tribe, and also after several years of cultural tensions between the two parties. The historic site was established nearly 90 years after the massacre, in commemoration of the Whitmans and the others who were killed.
In this video are 360s of the Oregon Trail near the Mission site and also at the Whitman Memorial Site located at the top of a nearby hill. Video filmed with my Nikon Coolpix P520 camera on August 16, 2015.
