Skagway, Alaska | CruiseOne
This historic frontier town is filled with stories about gunfights, bandits and an unquenchable thirst for gold.
Most of Skagway, Alaska is set within the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. And although the year-round population here sits at just 950 locals, the summer brings a boom of travelers who want to experience a taste of the region’s colorful history.
Many of these visitors arrive by cruise ship at one of the town’s three deep-water berths. From there, downtown is just 10 minutes away. Stroll along wooden sidewalks past false-front shops and beautifully restored buildings dating back to the 1900s.
Learn about Alaska’s most notorious outlaw, Soapy Smith, by taking in the ‘Days of ‘98’ theatre production and then drop by the historic Red Onion Saloon to unwind.
If you’re up for a short hike, head to the lookout just outside of town for sweeping views of Skagway and Lynn Canal. Or take a ride on the iconic White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, which passes by waterfalls, gorges and countless stunning vistas.
This video shows you more about the best Skagway, Alaska, shore excursions and activities.
Alaska, the last frontier. Wild Adventure Alaska.
Alaska is the largest state in the USA. It is still the least densely populated state in the union and for a long time was home to the lowest population. America's final frontier is the size of California, Texas and Montana combined, making it huge in comparison to the rest of the states! Alaska is also home to the highest point in
North America and all of the top ten highest mountains in the USA.

Alaskan Adventure Part 1: The Alaska Railroad
Over the last two weeks I spent my time in America's Last Frontier, Alaska, on a cruise and land vacation. Included in this adventure were trips on the two RR's that call Alaska home, the Alaska Railroad and the White Pass and Yukon. Over this two part series I will share with you scenes from each RR and the rides I was able to enjoy along them.
PART 1 DESCRIPTION: The Alaska Railroad is a Class II regional railroad that provides freight and passenger service along a 470 mile mainline from Fairbanks to Seward. It is currently owned by the state of Alaska and is hailed as one of the last flag stop passenger railroads in the United States. In this video we will spend 2 days railfanning around the Anchorage area, followed by a 110 mile ride from Anchorage to Seward aboard The Cruise Train.
Hope you enjoy the video

A layover for myself as I was just off the Star Princess giving lectures for the summer... Had some fun shooting this footage ..
Alaska Railroad Denali Star Train - Anchorage to Fairbanks
Please note: All the clips seen in this video were filmed between 2004 and 2006. The quality of both the clips and my videography from this time period is far inferior to what I do now. That said, I wanted to post some of these clips and I thought this would be the best way to do it. Let me know what you think and as always, enjoy!
All aboard! Come along for a trip to the last frontier - Alaska! The Denali Star is the Alaska Railroad's premier passenger train, traveling 358 miles from Anchorage, AK Fairbanks, AK. This train runs daily from May thru September. Come along as we follow the train to Fairbanks and then return.

JEEP from Skagway to the Yukon
The camera, set on Central Time thought these opening shots (in the port of Juneau) were shot 3 hours later in the day, on June 11....But, From the Port, a good look around town, and then getting into our rented Jeep for the drive to the Yukon Territory. From Skagway, it's only about 65 miles, doesn't take long - but we were entirely independent, so it really was the highlight of the trip
