Dolphin Watching Inverness
Stating from Cromarty near Inverness, we went dolphin watching in an inflatable ten-seater boat with powerful outboard motors, which took us far out to where there were an abundance of dolphins. They were a treat to watch...
West Coast Marine Life
Scotland's west coast can compete with anywhere in the world for the 'marine-scapes' and the wealth of wildlife that live there.
Just on the dive at Gairloch, we discovered Shore crabs eating a Plaice, Hermit crabs, a Flounder, a Fifteen-spined stickleback, many juvenile Pollock, Corkwing wrasse, Common Sea Urchin, Beadlet anemones, Sea Orange sponges, feeding Barnacles.
Enjoy!

Energetica Coastal Wildlife Cruise
In conjunction with the Energetica Walking and Wildlife Festival, this is a one-off opportunity to see the wonderful north east coastline from a small boat. On leaving the vibrant port of Aberdeen we head north to the Don and Ythan estuaries, up towards the villages of Collieston, and Cruden Bay before passing the magnificent cliffs at Bullars of Buchan. This trip finishes at Peterhead.
The truly unique part of this activity will be the wildlife on view. Seals, gannets, puffins and auks will be our constant companions and, if conditions are right, we may even witness a feeding frenzy with hundreds of birds targeting large shoals of small fish. We can expect to come across minkie whale, harbour porpoise and the bottlenose dolphin. Risso's dolphin and humpback whale are both possible too!
The Bristol Whales
Now that the Bristol Whales have finally arrived to Millennium Square, Bristol 2015 spoke to key personalities about the project and its meaning.
The Bristol Whales are an installation created for people to reflect on the amount of plastic that enters our oceans every day, and how it affects marine wildlife.
Latest researches suggest that there are about 5 trillion pieces of plastic in our oceans at the moment.
You can get involved by going to whales.bristol2015.co.uk and recording your pledge to stop using plastic bottles and buy a reusable one instead.
Little by little, everybody can help save our oceans.

1,000 DOLPHINS WAKE SURF! - 360 Video Experience in 4K!
This 360 video was shot using a 7 camera 360 rig.
We had the amazing experience of being overrun by a super pod of Pacific White Sided Dolphins. Make sure to see the dolphin jumping on the right side of the boat at the beginning of this clip.
As you can hear in the video we were completely thrilled and excited to be experiencing such an incredible moment. There were litterally hundreds if not thoursands of dolphins around our boat and the big barge infront of us putting on a show in the bow wake. When we looked into the water it looked as if the dolphins were looking back up at us. We had a strong feeling of wanting to just dive in and swim with them.

HWDT Joint Warrior Survey, October 2014
The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust routinely shadows the Joint Warrior military exercise with the aim of documenting any unusual cetacean behaviour that may be linked to the use of loud underwater sounds (e.g. SONAR). This video shows our research vessel Silurian among the Joint Warrior fleet in the Minch during October 2014, where we deployed a Sound Trap to characterise the underwater soundscape.
Number of Endangered Puget Sound Orcas Increase Slightly in Latest Count
The annual July tally of endangered Puget Sound orcas is complete, and researchers have counted 81 whales, including four babies born since last winter. The orcas that frequent the inland Washington waters are identified by unique black and white markings or variations in their fin shapes. Ken Balcomb, a senior scientist with the Center for Whale Research who keeps the official census of Puget Sound killer whales for the federal government said, “We’re excited. They passed the dangerous part. The survival rate for babies is about 50%.
