Norway landscape photography - Olso to Bodo (part 1)
It feels like I am always behind the 8 ball with my videos, but its such a pleasure to start producing the Norway landscape photography with Olso to Bodo (part 1) the first of what will likely be an 8-10 video series on landscape photography in Norway.
We arrived in Olso early in the morning, picked up our hire car (which we named Bensin), grabbed some groceries, and started to work out how we were going to sleep in the car! We managed to get within 150km of Bodo which was an excellent effort and even had time to stop off for some landscape photography along the way. Bodo is the best location to get to the Lofoten Islands by ferry, so that was always the plan.
The whole trip is based around landscape photography and the northern lights (that time of year) and was such a fun trip to have with my wife Haylie.
If you guys want to see more adventure style images from our trip in Norway, check out our instragram page:

I hope you guys enjoy the series and have a laugh with me along the way.

Andrew

Just what is Norwegian Slow TV? Documentary Introduction
Slow TV News and Reviews No. 12 - What is Slow TV?
This is the introduction to a documentary exploring and answering the question, Just what is Slow TV?
Part Two is Slow TV - The NRK Story
I think your film deserves the widest audience possible... I think BBC Four should be screening your film, too.
Carl Honoré, Author, 'In Praise of Slow'
Can I just say, for us in NRK it's been a real pleasure having Tim's eyes on our mainly practical view - making TV for the viewers, and Tim's research and questioning our work has been making ourselves more conscious about our work, and it's a real pleasure, so thankyou, thankyou Tim.
Thomas Hellum, one of the innovators and producers of Norwegian Slow TV, Slow Media Symposium, Bath Spa University, 26th March 2015.
Slow TV’s profile has grown since it emerged in Norway in 2009. NRK2, the second channel of the state broadcaster has been the pioneer in developing this real time marathon event broadcast format, taking surprise ratings at home and gaining global attention. Train journeys, a ferry voyage, knitting and singing a hymn book over sixty hours are some of the Slow TV subjects which NRK has shown.
“That Damned Cow”, subtitled “Just what is Norwegian Slow TV?” is a documentary which asks exactly that. It sets out NRK’s narrative through interviews with key NRK staff in Bergen and Oslo, from inception to international distribution.
It explores the relaxing experience many Slow TV viewers cite, from interviews at the Norwegian Hymn Book Slow TV event, with a Doctor of Media Psychology and with British Airways which has begun using the Bergensbanen train journey on some long haul in-flight entertainment.
“That Damned Cow” considers the future of Slow TV inside and outside of Norway. It offers ways of understanding the depth and potential of what at first seems a simple formula but evokes a spectrum of participation in real life and social media, engages national pride, heritage, community and identity.

6K Western Norway - Sogn og Fjordane | UNESCO
The essence of Norway's appeal is remarkably simple: this is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Scoured and gouged by glaciers, ancient and modern, Western Norway's deep, sea-drowned valleys are covered by steep, rugged terrain. It's a landscape that is so utterly unique and so profoundly beautiful that it is one of the most desirable destinations in the world.

A Norwegian treasure - interior of a medieval wooden stave church - HQ
Use the HQ-button! I dug out an old mini-DV video tape, tested out a format conversion, tried to rework the video colors just a little bit, and - at the same time - I revisited the interior of the Uvdal Stave Church, built around 1168 AD.
Please watch this interior!
The church has one of the most beautiful interiors of the preserved medieval Norwegian wooden stave churches. I did this video recording for the web site Numedalsnett many many years ago. The owner - Fortidsminneforeningen in Norway - said OK to the shooting, but they wouldn't allow much lights or electricity. The church itself has no electricity installed.
Enjoy the interior of one of Norway's true treasures :-)
Recording date: The late summer of 2001.
Recording location: Interior of the Uvdal Stave Church, Nore and Uvdal, Norway.
Recorded music: Ulf Meyn, composing and performing on the guitar.
Recorded images and editing: Erik Meyn, but many years ago.
Recording gadget: A small low budget SONY mini-DV camera.

Church owner: Fortidsminneforeningen, Norway.
Original web publisher: Numedalsnett AS.

Lumedyne Workshop Oslo Norway 2006
DJ was teaching a few years ago at AV Hardware, the Norwegian distributor for Lumedyne and we were fortunate that Roy recorded it all and edited it to this. Sorry it took so long to share it here.
This follows my standard format where I gather a group of photographers, thean we walk around creating as many styles of images that time allows. Even in other countries, the act of showing the set up and the resulting image works great. Today's seminars usually include a shooting session for each of the attendees with the models and the Lumedyne lighting equipment. Contact Lumedyne for more information about a seminar for your group.
Thanks,
DJ

Snow record in Norway
The norwegians have to battle eight meters of snow to find the road.
På Vikafjellet slåss de med åtte meter snø for å finne veien.
Dronningen Ferry
The ferry from Nesoddentangen is docking at Aker Brygge in Oslo, Norway.
This is just a test I made marrying Nikon D60 images with Final Cut Pro editing. Sadly YT ditn't make it 16:9 for some reasen, even though it's a HD vid.
Time-lapse made with a Nikon D60 camera on continuous shooting with a shutter speed of 2.5 seconds on an 18-55mm lens zoomed to 20mm with an aperture value of F/5.6. Later the images was assembled in FCP on my 2.4 GHz MacBook.
Hasselblad Encounters
Produced in conjunction with the exhibition Encounters – Nordic Photography Beyond Borders at Hasselblad Center, Gothenburg, Sweden 23 February 2019 – 5 May 2019.
The exhibition includes photography and video works by five Nordic contemporary artists; Nanna Debois Buhl (b 1975, based in Denmark), Bára Kristinsdottir (b 1960, based in Iceland), Sandra Mujinga (b 1989, based in Norway), Johannes Samuelsson (b 1982, based in Sweden) and Miia Autio (b 1986, based in Finland). Each of them is exploring means of visualizing social engagement and narrating new encounters; cultural, environmental or political. The works address current issues such as South-North migration, changes in land- and cityscapes as well as the local effects of economic globalisation.
The project is a collaboration between five Nordic curators and institutions; Jóhanna Gudrún Árnadóttir, Reykjavík Museum of Photography, Reykjavík, Iceland; Kristine Kern, Fotografisk Center, Köpenhamn, Denmark; Tiina Rauhala, Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki, Finland; Susanne Saether, Henie Onstad Art Center, Oslo, Norway, and Sara Walker, Louise Wolthers and Dragana Vujanović Östlind, Hasselblad Foundation, Gothenburg, Sweden.
After being shown at the Hasselblad Center, the exhibition will tour the Nordic Countries, starting with Fotografisk Center, Copenhagen in the summer of 2019, and Reykjavik Museum of Photography, Reykjavik in the autumn of 2019.
