Jakarta Airport to City by Train Guide
Made a trip to Jakarta, Indonesia and took the Airport Train to the City. Wanted to see how easy to use the public transport as well as saving some money. The trip from Airport to BNI City was around 40 mins and walking to the hotel was only 20 mins hence whole trip was around 1 hour cause I am a fast walker... After that I spent the few days hunting for Ayam Penyet (Indonesian Crushed Chicken Rice)

I recommend buying any beverages at the Alfamart, it will be probably your cheapest option.

Gambir Station (Indonesian: Stasiun Gambir, Station code: GMR) is a major railway station in Gambir, Central Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. It is located on eastern side of Merdeka Square. It was built by the colonial Dutch before World War II but renovated in the 1990s. Its lime-green ceramic facade dominates the Gambir subdistrict. *

Traffic in Jakarta can be a problem. So I arrived early at the train station Gambir. 3 hours early :-]
The moment you open the taxi door, porters are ready to take your luggage.
The same thing happens when the train comes close to a station: Suddenly the wagon will be filled with yellow-porter-shirts. As it turnout, they jump on the train while it is still moving.
I never used their services
Look at 2.28. People are traveling ON the roof.
The power cord above their head gives 10.000 Volt.
No need to touch the wire, the arcing will fry you already when you get close.
BTW, for Dutch norms the train is extremely spacey and dirt cheap: an 8 hour ride is around 20 euro's (Eksekutif-class). If you travel a lower class the price will be (much) lower.
A warning though: on more the one occasion the airco was so cold that my extra sweater and complimentary blanket could not keep me warm. If I have to guess.. the temp inside the train was close 18 degrees (or colder!)
