Partying on Bourbon Street and Alligator Swamp Tour | New Orleans Vlog | Jamilah and Marcel
It was Marcel's first time on Bourbon Street and Jamilah showed what the night life of New Orleans is all about! We hope you enjoy! Please make sure like our video and subscribe to our channel! Thanks for watching.
We arrived to New Orleans and we rushed over to Jean Lafitte's Alligator Swamp Tour that we purchased off of Groupon. The swamp tour was 90 minutes long and was full of curious alligators which swam up to the boat, and we also were able to hold a 4 year old alligator! The alligator swamp tour definitely started our New Orleans day off on the right foot.
After leaving our swamp tour we went back to Alder Hotel to change into our night time outfits to party on Bourbon Street. Bourbon Street is amazing. From the French Style buildings to the culture of New Orleans, Bourbon Street is a great place to be! We went down to Bourbon Street and stopped in many stores, clubs and received entertainment from the locals and visitors in the area.
If you have never partied on Bourbon Street you are missing out! We hope you enjoyed our New Orleans vlog. Make sure to leave a like on our video and subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching and see you all next time. God Bless!
New Orleans (Part 1) Jan 25-27, 2018 | Haunted History, Plantations, and Swamps
Norelle and I went to the Big Easy last month for a long weekend. This is just part one. On the last day we happened on the band 4th River Music Collective, playing on the street. I got a solid 4 minutes of their music and decided to put it on top of the first few days of film that I got.
After we got to our AirBnB, which was a great setup located in the historic Western Union Telegraph building, we started out by going straight to Bourbon Street by about 8pm.
We then went straight to the Haunted History walking tour, which took us around the French Quarter to major sites including Lalaurie Mansion aka Madame Lalaurie’s House of Horrors, which was featured in American Horror story... Also it turns out Nick Cage used to own it for a while, which is a little messed up.
The next day we walked to the waterfront, the pickup point for our Plantation and Swamp Tour.
The tour begins with the Destrehan Plantation, established in 1787, the oldest documented French Colonial style house in the lower Mississippi Valley. After that we drove about another 45 minutes to the Cajun Pride Swamp Tours, where we got to see/hold stakes and alligators.
The next day we took the trolly to the Garden District, where we got caught in a huge Thunderstorm, but that will be documented in part 2.
Enjoy!

New Orleans Airboat Swamp Tour
On my second day in New Orleans, my friend David also happened to be in town, so I signed us up for the Ultimate Swamp Tour and we went out on the bayou in airboats. It was AWESOME (even though it was too cold and we didn't see any alligators). Then we ate lunch at Neyow's and I just zonked out for the rest of the day. This morning, before flying back to New York, I went to Manny Randazzo's to pick up Christmas king cakes and then to Central Grocery to get some Muffalettas for Sunday lunch with the fam.

Insta360 One: Swamp & Bayou - September 2018 - New Orleans Travel Vlog
Experience Louisiana’s wildlife and exotic plant life with Jean Lafitte Swamp & Airboat Tours, headquartered near New Orleans in the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. A Captain guided us along swamps and bayous, where we came face-to-face with alligators, different species of birds, and other wildlife.
We learned a lot about Alligators: It is distinguished by its wide, rounded snout and black color. The American alligator lives in the southern United States, from North Carolina to Texas. Alligators can't control their temperature internally, so when they are cold, they sunbathe, and when they are hot, they go for a swim or sink beneath the mud. As soon as they are born, the babies, called hatchlings, can go and catch their own food. American hatchlings are around 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) long. After around two years, they leave their mother's protection to start their own families. Excess calories are stored in fat deposits at the base of the alligator's tail. Incredibly, by burning fat reserves, it is possible for an alligator to last more than two years between feedings.
I even got to hold a baby alligator! Though, I hate reptiles and rodents… I can’t put my finger on why I hate those creatures; it may be cultural or psychological or both. And I wonder, how and why I did hold it. I think the big factor for the exception, our Captain “humanized” it… called it “Baby Benny,” danced it around, and wagged it’s feet in a “hello” gesture. However, the disturbing bit was it was stored in a cooler for a good hour before our Captain took it out for show and tell as part of the tour! I was a bit put off by that, not sure how appropriate that is. Then, it was placed back into the cooler after everyone has had the chance to hold it. But the Captain informed us that it is perfectly comfortable chillin in the cooler, and will be released into the wild when it gets bigger… I hope so!

Manchac Swamp seen with the Cajun Pride Swamp Tours of New Orleans (October 2, 2012)
Post-cruise experience in New Orleans (opted for their Combo Tour with transportation, pick-up and drop off @ French Quarter Hotel):
Swamp Tour (the famous Manchac Swamp) + Oak Alley Plantation Tour to follow.
Allen, the boat Captain and tour guide, was exceptionally good: funny, very knowledgeable and personable!
One day I'm gonna die, and I'm gonna take all of you with me, oracle Julie Brown would sing from her front porch.
And in 1915, on the day of her funeral in Frenier, Louisiana, it happened.
A hurricane swept hundreds of residents to their deaths in the Manchac Swamp near Lake Pontchartrain's western shore.
See the mass graves by torchlight on a night-time swamp tour through the cypress trees.
Hear stories of the spirits sighted, and see the red eyes of crocodiles as you float into the moss-draped darkness.
Manchac Swamp, located in the U.S. state of Louisiana, near the city of New Orleans, is also known as swamp of the ghosts.
