Located at the southern tip of Lake Geneva, surrounded by the Jura mountains and the Alps, Geneva offers exceptional views of the majestic Mont Blanc. The city that houses the United Nations headquarters and the Economic Commission for Europe, Geneva is made up of some 41 per cent foreigners from 190 different nationalities. With more than 200,000 inhabitants, Geneva is the second most populated city in Switzerland after Zurich.
Today, we invite you to discover this beautiful city, the home of watchmaking, where philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born one evening in June 1712. After having checked into our rooms at the Hotel Metropole facing the lake, we offer you a walk in the heart of the English garden which houses the famous flower clock.
Another emblem of the city is the Rue du Rhône where the most beautiful brands have taken up residence. Bucherer will then reveal some of its finest jewellery pieces. A little further up, we will enter the new Artya boutique, before taking our first gourmet break, at the Café Perche in the heart of the Parc des Eaux vives. With 22,000 m2 of retail space, the
Manor Geneva is Switzerland's second largest store, and the largest in terms of revenue. We will stroll the aisles, looking for luxury perfumes and haute couture chocolates. We spotlight a brand of unique and customisable bags called The Collector, before ending our evening at Metropole's MET Rooftop Lounge. But for now, let's drop our bags at the Metropole Hotel. We could not dream of a better location. On one side, the English Garden and its flower clock, with the iconic stream of water in the background, on the other, the Rue du Rhône, heaven on earth for all lovers of luxury shopping. A legendary building dating back to 1854, with an elegant design, from the entrance hall to the Mirror Bar, to the some 127 contemporary-style rooms and suites ranging in size from 15 to 80 square metres.
Outside, Gusto's terrace is often busy for both a drink and a taste of Roman-inspired, healthy cuisine based on seasonal produce. In the summer season, more and more people are getting closer to the water jet every day, hoping to receive a few fresh drops of water. Standing at 140 metres tall, it has become over time a true emblem of Geneva. Its story begins in 1886. At the time, the hydraulic plant which distributed the driving force of the Rhône to the craftsmen and watchmakers of Geneva, was forced to create an open evacuation of the pressurised water, when the workshops closed at night. The place generated so much enthusiasm that it never stopped working. In 1891, the City of Geneva even decided to promote the Water Fountain to the rank of tourist attraction by installing it at the end of the Pier des Eaux-vives, in the heart of the harbour. 500 is the number of litres of water thrown into the air every second.12,000, on the other hand, is the number of flowers that make up this magnificent clock located under the Ferris wheel, and near the Patek Philippe boutique, creator of the very first Swiss wristwatch in 1868. It was a ladies piece, ordered at the time by Countess Koscowicz of Hungary. Another must-see house is that of Swiss jeweller and watchmaker Bucherer. With around thirty boutiques worldwide, they are one of the main players in the sector. An exceptional house located at number 45 on a street that is often compared to Fifth Avenue in New York, or even to Place Vendôme in Paris. A luxury kingdom par excellence, Rue du Rhône is the second most expensive street in Switzerland, behind Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. A little further up, rue Neuve-du-Molard, at number 22, is a brand new boutique that has just opened, that of watchmaker Yvan Arpa. In the windows are watches that are for the most part unique and above all extraordinary. What is amazing is this bezel which was literally forged with a Tesla coil and a Faraday cage. The shop is also in the image of the designer: totally unique…!

The Spirits ask for Help and Prayers in this Cemetery in Geneva, Switzerland.
We go for a stroll through a city cemetery in the French part of Switzerland. A peek through the vaults and then an EVP session is conducted. Please pray for those who need help.
In this session I use the SONO X12 Ghost Box app – anyone who says the app is pre-programmed with messages is very much mistaken; These are voices from disembodied entities, of that I'm positive. I have used Audacity only to clean, slow down, sometimes reverse and enhance the EVPs because the spirits communicate at a very quick tempo on the app, they will often answer me the second I finish a sentence. WARNING: A word of caution though, I would advise against using this in your own home - protect yourself beforehand by researching online the preferred methods - and make sure you close the session afterwards. I wouldn't want any undesirable entities accompanying you home.

SWITZERLAND: GENEVA: PEOPLE WAIT FOR NEWS OF SWISSAIR CRASH
Eng/French/Nat
A Swissair jet carrying 229 people has crashed off Nova Scotia and it is believed there are no survivors.
The plane, en route from New York to Geneva, went down late on Wednesday after the pilot reported smoke in the cabin and tried an emergency landing at Halifax International Airport.
So far, only four bodies have been recovered as rescue workers desperately search in the murky waters off Nova Scotia's coast.
At Geneva International Airport, the plane's intended destination, psychologists and a crisis centre are in place to comfort next of kin who began arriving to pick up their relatives.
They're expecting an outpouring of grief here at Geneva International Airport.
Authorities are on hand to care for and speak to relatives who were expecting to welcome loved ones on Swissair Flight 111 from New York.
The jet departed New York's Kennedy International Airport around 8:30pm EDT (0030 GMT on Thursday) bound for Geneva, but the pilot declared an emergency on board just an hour later.
The arrival board at the Geneva airport initially listed the flight as 'delayed.'
Once smoke overtook the cabin, the pilot attempted a crash landing at Halifax International Airport in Nova Scotia - but to no avail.
The plane crashed off the coast.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 plane carried 215 passengers and 14 crew and none are believed to have survived.
Daniel Teysseire, chief airport manager at Geneva International Airport, said a crisis centre was up and running as soon as he was notified of the crash.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
What can I do here is that as soon as we receive any information about the crash, we set up a crisis cell in order to deal with all the phone calls from the next of kin about the passengers.
SUPER CAPTION: Daniel Teysseire, chief airport manager, Geneva International Airport
As business started to pick up at the airport early on Thursday morning, the expected stream of families coming to meet Flight 111's arrival began.
Anyone coming to the terminal to gaze at the arrivals board found an ominous posted sign directing them to the Swissair desk for more information.
Philippe Roy, chief of protocol for the airport, said mental health workers were on hand to help relatives handle the devastating information they would receive about the crash.
He was not sure what the families who had already begun to arrive had been told by airline staff.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Psychologists, psychiatrists are here waiting for people, for families or next of kin.
(reporter: how many families have arrived so far?)
I don't know now, I think 20 people are here, families.
(reporter: what are they being told?)
Pardon? I don't know.
SUPER CAPTION: Philippe Roy, Chief of Protocol, Geneva International Airport
One man, the father of an airline steward for Swissair, came to the airport unsure whether his son had been working on the ill-fated flight.
He said although his son regularly worked the flight's route, he was holding out hope until he got a list of crew on board the flight from the airline.
SOUNDBITE: (French)
I heard it on the radio and I'm fairly confident he was aboard because he said so yesterday. If he was there, I just don't know - I'll wait for the list. (reporter question) Honestly, it's possible. (what's his name?) Stuart.
SUPER CAPTION: Charles Perrin, father of Swissair airline steward who may have been on Flight 111
It was Swissair's first crash since October 7, 1979, when a Swissair DC-8 overran a runway in Athens on landing and burst into flames.
That crash killed 14 people.

Field of Vision - National Disintegrations
In his latest film, Braden King ponders the Geneva Freeport, a warehouse complex in Switzerland that is said to house over 1 million works of art. A high-security tax haven for international dealers and collectors, the Freeport's exact contents remain a mystery to the general public. As people crossing borders are more to more and greater scrutiny, NATIONAL DISINTEGRATIONS examines what it means to have untold amounts of wealth and property flow freely through this extralegal space.

Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
I've been to see ALICE -- though there was no looking glass to jump through, just a retina scanner and one very long elevator ride down into the earth. I've toured a CMS that has nothing to do with online publishing. I've even gently laid my body on the most powerful particle accelerator in the world and raised the ire of surrounding engineers in the interest of a good shot. I did all of this at CERN, the international particle physics laboratory located near Geneva, Switzerland. But you probably know it best as the birthplace of the world wide web and home of the Large Hadron Collider. And, yes, it was all exactly like a walking fever dream.

A full day of eating in SWITZERLAND - How expensive is it while travelling? (Vegetarian)
Eating while travelling (especially as vegan/vegetarian) is always a struggle and sometimes things can get pricey... Here's the true cost of a full day of food while travelling Interlaken, Switzerland.
This place was an absolute DREAM! Wow. Neither of us were expecting to love it so much and the food was no exception. Definitely more expensive than most parts of Asia but not as bad as I was expecting! How does it compare to your hometown?

Switzerland - Relatives of air crash arrive
T/I: 10:21:29
Scores of grieving relatives of victims of the Swissair 111 disaster gathered at Geneva airport on Friday (4/9) preparatory to being flown to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada later in the day on a specially chartered Airbus. The weeping relatives were ushered into a special centre that had been specially set up for them. Grief counsellors did their best to console the distraught people. Meanwhile, officials declined to speculate about the cause of the crash, the worst in Swiss aviation history, but said there was no reason at this point to suspect terrorism.
