Heaters are appliances whose purpose is to generate heat (i.e. warmth) for the building. This can be done via central heating. Such a system contains a boiler, furnace, or heat pump to heat water, steam, or air in a central location such as a furnace room in a home, or a mechanical room in a large building. The heat can be transferred by convection, conduction, or radiation.
Ventilation is the process of changing or replacing air in any space to control temperature or remove any combination of moisture, odors, smoke, heat, dust, airborne bacteria, or carbon dioxide, and to replenish oxygen. Ventilation includes both the exchange of air with the outside as well as circulation of air within the building. It is one of the most important factors for maintaining acceptable indoor air quality in buildings. Methods for ventilating a building may be divided into mechanical/forced and natural types.
Air conditioning and refrigeration are provided through the removal of heat. Heat can be removed through radiation, convection, or conduction. Refrigeration conduction media such as water, air, ice, and chemicals are referred to as refrigerants. A refrigerant is employed either in a heat pump system in which a compressor is used to drive thermodynamic refrigeration cycle, or in a free cooling system which uses pumps to circulate a cool refrigerant (typically water or a glycol mix).
Trane Comfort Specialists have to meet Trane’s stringent standards and demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction and continuing education. Battle: Los Angeles - Cast asked about UFOs and Aliens (UFO MOVIE)
The event that became known as The Battle of Los Angeles took place during the evening and early morning hours of February 24-25, 1942. Never fully explained, these events remain shrouded in mystery and the subject of intense speculation.
One day earlier, on February 23, a Japanese submarine surfaced and fired upon an oil production facility near Santa Barbara, California. With reports indicating that the sub was headed south towards Los Angeles, people were on edge and tension was high.
Beginning shortly after 2 am on February 25, and throughout the night, unidentified objects were reported over Los Angeles and the threat was so unusual that air raid sirens were sounded, and a total blackout was ordered. At 3:16 am, the 37th Coast Artillery Brigade began firing 12.8-pound antiaircraft shells at the objects -- more than 1,400 shells were fired over the next 58 minutes as the objects moved south, from Santa Monica to Long Beach.
The obvious thought was that these were Japanese bombers come to attack the United States, says UFO expert Bill Birnes, publisher of UFO magazine. But it wasn't. They were flying too high. And the astounding thing was, not one artillery shell could hit the craft -- out of all the hundreds of shells that were fired. People outside that night swore that it was neither a plane nor a balloon -- it was a UFO. It floated, it glided. And to this day, nobody can explain what that craft was, why our anti-aircraft guns couldn't hit it -- it's a mystery that's never been resolved.
Descriptions of the UFOs varied widely. General George C. Marshall, in his initial memo to President Roosevelt regarding the event, wrote that the unidentified airplanes... [traveled at speeds ranging from] 'very slow' to as much as 200 mph and from elevations of 9000 to 18,000 feet. The number of craft reported by observers ranged from 9 to 15 to 25.
At first, officials offered a very vague explanation: the secretary of the Navy, Frank Knox, dismissed the event as a false alarm due to war nerves, but when this failed to satisfy the press and the public, the Army responded with a definitive answer that the craft and the battle were real, and on February 26, Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson confirmed that. Santa Monica's US. representative, Leland Ford, called for a Congressional investigation into the incident, but this went nowhere. In the years since, various explanations have been offered -- from Japanese planes to German craft launched from secret bases in Mexico to unidentified aircraft to weather balloons to sky lanterns to blimps.
However, it is also alleged that General Marshall reported that the Army had recovered an unidentified aircraft off the coast of California that indicated that the mystery airplanes are in fact not earthly and according to secret intelligence sources they are in all probability of interplanetary origin.
We have alongside some great content for the highly anticipated Sony film Battle: Los Angeles TWO experts talking about the real Battle Los Angeles.
• CAPT. ROBERT SALAS and BILL BIRNES.
There is nothing to convince Her Majesty's government that there has ever been a single visit by an alien spacecraft.
Lord Stabolgi - Government spokesman
What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to? What can it mean? What is the truth?
Sir Winston Churchill - July 1952
For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings -- The Battle of Los Angeles in 1942, Buenos Aires in 1965, Seoul in 1983, France, Germany, China -- but all of these had official stories that covered up and dismissed these inexplicable events.
And the same is true of the U.K... The National Archives has just released the latest installment of UFO files -- the largest to date, containing 24 files and totalling over 6,000 pages of material spanning 1994-2000. The files are available to download for free for a month at nationalarchives.gov.uk/ufos
And the release also shows that defense intelligence documents on a reported U.K. UFO sighting known as the Rendlesham Incident have gone missing.
But what does it all mean? Could these sightings be alien scouting missions? And are world leaders aware? And if they are, are we, via the films we watch and the media we consume, being prepared for the eventuality of an alien invasion?
On March 11 2011, what were once just sightings becomes a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces in BATTLE: LOS ANGELES. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected.
Columbia Pictures presents in association with Relativity Media an Original Film production, Battle: Los Angeles. The film stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo, and Michael Peña. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman. Produced by Neal H. Moritz and Ori Marmur.

SUMMARY
=======
George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was one of the Founding Fathers and the first President of the United States (1789–1797). He commanded Patriot forces in the new nation's vital American Revolutionary War and led them to victory over the British. Washington also presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which established the new federal government. For his manifold leadership he has been called the Father of His Country.Washington was born to a successful family of planters and slaveholders in colonial Virginia. He had educational opportunities and at age seventeen launched a successful career as a land surveyor. He then became a leader of the Virginia militia in the French and Indian War. During the Revolutionary War he was a delegate to the Continental Congress which unanimously appointed him commander-in-chief of the Army, leading an allied campaign to victory at the Siege of Yorktown which ended the conflict. Once victory was in hand, in 1783 he resigned as commander-in-chief, declining further authority and power out of his devotion to republicanism.
As the country's premier statesman, Washington was unanimously elected President by the Electoral College in the first two national elections. He promoted and oversaw implementation of a strong, well-financed national government, but remained impartial in the fierce rivalry between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. When the French Revolution plunged Europe into war, Washington proclaimed a policy of neutrality while sanctioning the controversial Jay Treaty. He set numerous precedents that have endured, such as the cabinet advisory system, the inaugural address, and his acceptance of the Congressional title The President of the United States. His Farewell Address strongly warned against political partisanship, sectionalism, and involvement in foreign wars.
Washington owned slaves throughout his life from age 11, but became increasingly troubled by slavery and freed his slaves in his will. He was a member of the Anglican Church and the Freemasons, and he urged tolerance for all religions in his roles as general and President. Upon his death, he was famously eulogized as first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen. Washington has been widely memorialized by monuments, art, places, stamps, and currency, and he has been consistently ranked by scholars among the four greatest American presidents.
The Cross of the Moment; climate change documentary
Climate Change Documentary Film.
This feature length documentary film examines the wider philosophical, political, and scientific issues surrounding climate change and the environmental crisis. Interviews with top scientists, professors, and public intellectuals are woven together to form an unflinchingly dry-eyed discussion of Fermi's Paradox, Rare Earth Theory, climate change, capitalism, and collapse. Interviewees are Don Brownlee, Roger Carasso, Robin Hanson, Mark Jacobson, Derrick Jensen, David Klein, Bill McKibben, Guy McPherson, Bill Patzert, Gary Snyder, Jill Stein, Peter Ward, and Josh Willis. Introductions occur at the end of the film.
This documentary is being used in college level classrooms as an introduction to broader climate change issues. Unlike similar documentaries, The Cross of the Moment avoids simplistic answers and the false optimism of a Hollywood ending. Instead, the film focuses on the deep political and cultural roadblocks to structural changes, particularly the relationship between capitalism and climate change.
The movie is difficult, demanding, and often depressing and perhaps best climbed alone, in a dark room, with your favorite libation. But feel free to share it with others, including public showings and fundraisers for environmental non-profits.
Originally released in 2016, more info can be found at
The film takes its title from a stanza of W. H. Auden’s poem The Age of Anxiety, published in 1947.
We would rather be ruined than changed;
We would rather die in our dread
Than climb the cross of the moment
And let our illusions die.

George Catlett Marshall Jr. (December 31, 1880 – October 16, 1959) was an American statesman and soldier. He rose through the United States Army to become Chief of Staff under presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, then served as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under Truman. Winston Churchill lauded Marshall as the organizer of victory for his leadership of the Allied victory in World War II, although Marshall declined a final field leadership position that went to his protege, later U.S. President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. After the war, as Secretary of State, Marshall advocated a significant U.S. economic and political commitment to post-war European recovery, including the Marshall Plan that bore his name. In recognition of this work, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953.Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Marshall graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1901. After serving briefly as commandant of students at the Danville Military Academy in Danville, Virginia, Marshall received his commission as a second lieutenant of Infantry in February, 1902. In the years after the Spanish–American War, he served in the United States and overseas in positions of increasing rank and responsibility, including platoon leader and company commander in the Philippines during the Philippine–American War. He was the Honor Graduate of his Infantry-Cavalry School Course in 1907, and graduated first in his 1908 Army Staff College class. In 1916 Marshall was assigned as aide-de-camp to J. Franklin Bell, the commander of the Western Department. After the United States entered World War I, Marshall served with Bell while Bell commanded the Department of the East. He was assigned to the staff of the 1st Division, and assisted with the organization's mobilization and training in the United States, as well as planning of its combat operations in France. Subsequently, assigned to the staff of the American Expeditionary Forces headquarters, he was a key planner of American operations including the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.
After the war, Marshall became an aide-de-camp to John J. Pershing, who was then the Army's Chief of Staff. Marshall later served on the Army staff, commanded the 15th Infantry Regiment in China, and was an instructor at the Army War College. In 1927, he became assistant commandant of the Army's Infantry School, where he modernized command and staff processes, which proved to be of major benefit during World War II. In 1932 and 1933 he commanded the 8th Infantry Regiment and Fort Screven, Georgia. Marshall commanded 5th Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division and Vancouver Barracks from 1936 to 1938, and received promotion to brigadier general. During this command, Marshall was also responsible for 35 Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camps in Oregon and sout ...

Toward a New Global Architecture? America’s Role in a Changing World | Radcliffe Day 2018
Radcliffe Day 2018 opens with a panel titled “Toward a New Global Architecture? America’s Role in a Changing World.” In 2009, then–Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a vision for a global architecture “in which states have clear incentives to cooperate and live up to their responsibilities, as well as strong disincentives to sit on the sidelines or sow discord and division.” Nearly a decade later, the United States is still grappling with complex questions about its role in global affairs.
Nicholas Burns (10:29), the Roy and Barbara Goodman Family Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy and International Relations at Harvard Kennedy School and a career diplomat who served as US ambassador to NATO and undersecretary of state for political affairs, moderates a discussion exploring these issues. The panel features the foreign policy experts Michèle Flournoy ’83, David Ignatius ’72, Meghan O’Sullivan, and Anne-Marie Slaughter JD ’85.
Introduction by Lizabeth Cohen, dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study and the Howard Mumford Jones Professor of American Studies at Harvard University

Thorium.
Thorium is an abundant material which can be transformed into massive quantities of energy. To do so efficiently requires a very different nuclear reactor than the kind we use today- Not one that uses solid fuel rods, but a reactor in which the fuel is kept in a liquid state. Not one that uses pressurized water as a coolant, but a reactor that uses chemically stable molten salts.
Such a reactor is called a Molten Salt Reactor. Many different configurations are possible. Some of these configurations can harness Thorium very efficiently.
This video explores the attributes of Molten Salt Reactors. Why are they compelling? And why do many people (including myself) see them as the only economical way of fully harnessing ALL our nuclear fuels... including Thorium.
This video has been under development since 2012. I hope it conveys to you why I personally find Molten Salt Reactors so compelling, as do the many volunteers and supporters who helped create it. Much of the footage was shot by volunteers.
