Battlefields and Base Ball
The great baseball movie Field of Dreams is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and probably one of the more memorable scenes in the film is when Terrance Mann, played by the great James Earl Jones told the Kevin Costner character Ray Kinsella that “America had rolled by like an army of steamrollers…been erased like a black board rebuilt and erased again...but baseball had marked the time.”
This game has endured wars and national tragedy. Recently a group of history buffs gathered for the National 19th Century Baseball Festival in Gettysburg. Their throwback games were set on a fields that take us back to the roots of the game, when it was following in the footsteps of a new nation.

Driving Pittsburgh to Flight 93 Memorial
Greetings from David 大卫 Dawei...
Please leave any comments or questions below
I leave the Pittsburgh area with the goal of visiting Gettysburg and then driving home, but serendipity puts me on the road that leads to the Flight 93 memorial.
This is the plane that crashed after passengers decided to fight back after they received reports other hijacked planes were being used as cruise missiles. One of the family members heard them engage the terrorists with Let's Roll
Unfortunately, my batteries ran out of juice and I decided that I had enough to remember the memorial. If you ever go, I think you will find the layout of the place a little odd.

ATB 4 - Baseball in the Valley
Baseball in the Blackstone Valley was big. Actually, it was so big that delivery men wouldn't deliver milk, meat, ice, you name it to the villages of Ashton and Berkeley if those two Lonsdale mills were playing each other in baseball. The reason - no one would be home, they'd all be at the game. Mill owners loved baseball. Mill workers loved baseball. The big question was why, so join us as we explore why mill league baseball was so popular.
