STORYLINE:
Germany's new foreign minister Frank Walter Steinmeier on Friday held talks in Rome with his Italian counterpart, Gianfranco Fini.
The meeting was part of a diplomatic tour of European capitals days after Steinmeier took up his post in Germany's new coalition government.
Steinmeier told reporters that the two countries expressed their common fears for developments in Iran.
He called on Tehran to give guarantees to the international community that it is not going to develop nuclear weapons.
The United States and Europe have been pressuring Iran to give up technology that could make nuclear arms.
Germany has played a leading role in European diplomatic efforts with Iran, negotiating for the EU along with France and Britain.
The main issue of international concern is Iran's refusal to give up its right to uranium enrichment, which can be used to generate power but also to make weapons-grade material for nuclear warheads.
Iran says it wants only to make fuel, but international concern is growing that the program could be misused.
While Iran has frozen its nascent enrichment program, it restarted uranium conversion - a precursor to enrichment - in August.
The talks in Rome also focused on EU-related issues, such as the bloc's proposed constitution and the 2007-2013 budget.
Steinmeier will fly to Spain later on Friday and next week he will travel to New York to meet US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Willie Chirino & Arturo Sandoval - Medias Negras
Willy Chirino (born April 5, 1947 in Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río, Cuba) is a Cuban-American musician.
Early life
After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1950s, many Cubans fled to the United States. Some thought it was a temporary measure and hoped to return soon afterwards, but when it became apparent that the revolution was going to continue, more Cubans left the island. In 1960, Willy Chirino came to the United States via Operation Peter Pan, designed to get Cuban children out of the country due to, among other things, fears that the government would take them from their parents. This US government sponsored program, in conjunction with the Catholic Welfare Bureau, transported approximately 14,000 Cuban children to the United States and placed them in foster homes until their parents could leave the island. Chirino would later record Nuestro Día Ya Viene Llegando (Our Day is Coming), a song loosely based on his experiences as a refugee which has become an anthem for Cuban exiles everywhere.[citation needed]
Career
Chirino began his artistic career in Miami, releasing his first album in 1974. Since then, he has recorded over 20 albums, several of which have attained platinum and gold status. In 2006, his album Son del Alma, won a Grammy for Best Salsa/Merengue Album. As founder of the Willy Chirino Foundation, his philanthropic efforts have been recognized by UNICEF and the Department of State. He celebrated his 35th anniversary in music with his latest released album Willy Chirino Live-35th Anniversary (Willy Chirino En Vivo-35 Aniversario), a CD/DVD combo of the concert. This album brought him his first nomination for Best Salsa Album at the 2007 Latin Grammy Awards. Most recently, Chirino and his wife, singer/song writer Lissette Álvarez, released their first album together, Amarraditos (Bound to One Another). The CD includes a potpourri of classic Spanish-language love songs. Chirino's album, Pa'lante, was released at spring 2008, after which he launched a world tour. In 2011, when asked of how his recordings of My Beatles Heart, he said that Sony scrutinized every single one of his songs and their versions because they consider the songs by The Beatles as one of their most precious treasures, and wanted to make sure they were being used in a rightful manner.
In 2014, Chirino received a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in Las Vegas for his music career.[1]
Personal life
His first marriage was to Olga Maria Rodriguez and bore three daughters: Angie, Olga Maria and Jessica. He later married Lissette Álvarez and had three more children: Nicolle, Alana, and Gianfranco. He has three grandchildren, Elis Regina, Andres and Dashiel. He and his wife support the Cuban dissident movement, Yo No Coopero Con La Dictadura (I Don't Cooperate with the Dictatorship.

Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence (Rare World Trade Center Music Video) WTC RAW
In 1990, a promotional video for “Enjoy the Silence” was shot by French TV (for the TV Show “Champs-Élysées” with Michel Drucker) with Depeche Mode lip-syncing the song while standing atop the World Trade Center at the WTC rooftop World observatory.
In the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, in which the towers were destroyed, this video gained special significance among New Yorkers and others as, now, functioning as an elegant tribute to the victims.

VINICIO CAPOSSELA - La faccia della Terra (The face of the Earth) - English Trailer
Firriolo shot La Faccia Della Terra as an impressionist painting emerging in a sea of realism. It's not necessarily the journey you expect, but if agree to go along for the ride, your world will expand. - Carolyn Masone
Wintery Milan, its trams, open spaces of the west, echoes of American literature, musical instruments, words that form on a typewritten page, city apartments, hotel rooms on-the-road, 'ordinary bizarre' encounters, crowd-drawing concerts. Vinicio Capossela's trip the United States to make his latest album wins through dissonant, heterogeneous environs and situations, characterized by an unforeseen rapport between action and reaction. Composing lyrics and music appertains to a physical and - more importantly - spiritual journey, which takes its poetic themes and inspirations from places, objects and people. A penetrating voice that describes, evokes, invents...the body and clothes of an American-inspired ministrel...the lucid eye of one who watches and is moved by the face of the Earth...Capossela inhabits the film the same way in which his songs inhabit the things of the world. - Luciano Barisone (Director Visions du Reel, Nyon).
What began as a simple behind-the-scenes project turned into something different. There are elements of reading panoramas, sometimes the images don't match the words. It's not exactly documentary, not exactly fiction. - Gianfranco Firriolo

REVIEW:
Capossela and Firriolo collaborated on the film to illustrate the creative process of Capossela's latest CD, Da Solo, and to document part of the U.S recording session and showcase. The storyline turns in on itself, weaving circles and figure-eight's, blending beginnings and endings. Rather than shoot another 'behind the scenes' style documentary, Firriolo shot La Faccia Della Terra more as an impressionist painting emerging in a sea of realism. It's not necessarily the journey you expect, but if agree to go along for the ride, your world will expand.
The film opens and closes in a very similar way; the same snow-covered tram glides on the tracks of the Milanese street and the same song is heard. The same man in the same flannel shirt carries wood in the falling snow. According to Firriolo, this tram is significant because 'it passes by Vinicio's house and it carried me when I was a boy.' The film itself lies between these repeated images. Vinicio is seen in his home writing the film on a typewriter. From there, certain images reference the songs he had already written for Da Solo, and other images gave birth to songs that would later appear on the CD. Circles within circles.
Throughout, the film plays with sounds, images and expectations. Capossela coaxes music out of a toy piano and unevenly-filled water glasses. In Texas he and his band play at the Broken Spoke Bar. Capossela says it made him feel 'very exotic. Usually you find some Italians in every place, but not at the Broken Spoke.' The audience, dressed in cowboy boots and hats, were ready for their usual night of line dancing. Despite his unexpected appearance, Capossela says he was received warmly by the crowd.
Jump to New York City where a cabdriver re-tells the day he saw Sophia Loren on the sidewalk. He called her name, she smiled and nodded as if to say, 'Yes, it's me.'
Another segment introduces us to Christopher Magic Wonder, a magician who Capossela says can hypnotize himself and a chicken at the same time.
A Midwestern carnival and sideshow provided a somewhat disturbing segment, where passersby were encourage to step inside the trailer to see assorted oddities of Nature, including a stuffed 2-headed animal. According to Capossela, the sideshow provides a metaphor for, among other things, the way we invite people into our lives to see how beautiful we are, but 'underneath we are so flawed; we are circus freaks.'

Jason Felch, Chasing Aphrodite: Authors at Google
From Google Books:
In recent years, several of America's leading art museums have voluntarily given up their finest pieces of classical art to the governments of Italy and Greece. The monetary value is estimated at over half a billion dollars. Why would they be moved to such unheard-of generosity?
The answer lies at the Getty, one of the world's richest and most troubled museums, and scandalous revelations that it had been buying looted antiquities for decades. Drawing on a trove of confidential museum records and frank interviews, Felch and Frammolino give us a fly-on-the-wall account of the inner workings of a world-class museum and tell the story of the Getty's dealings in the illegal antiquities trade. The outlandish characters and bad behavior could come straight from the pages of a thriller—the wealthy recluse founder, the cagey Italian art investigator, the playboy curator, the narcissist CEO—but their chilling effects on the rest of the art world have been all too real, as the authors show in novelistic detail.
Fast-paced and compelling, Chasing Aphrodite exposes the layer of dirt beneath the polished façade of the museum business.

SUMMARY
=======
Milan (, Milanese: [miˈlãː]; Italian: Milano [miˈlaːno] (listen)) is a city in northern Italy, capital of Lombardy, and the second-most populous city in Italy after Rome, with the city proper having a population of 1,372,810 while its metropolitan area has a population of 3,242,820. Its continuously built-up urban area (that stretches beyond the boundaries of the Metropolitan City of Milan) has a population estimated to be about 5,270,000 over 1,891 square kilometres (730 square miles). The wider Milan metropolitan area, known as Greater Milan, is a polycentric metropolitan region that extends over central Lombardy and eastern Piedmont and which counts an estimated total population of 7.5 million, making it by far the largest metropolitan area in Italy and the 54th largest in the world. Milan served as capital of the Western Roman Empire from 286 to 402 and the Duchy of Milan during the medieval period and early modern age.
Milan is considered a leading alpha global city, with strengths in the field of the art, commerce, design, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, services, research and tourism. Its business district hosts Italy's stock exchange and the headquarters of national and international banks and companies. In terms of GDP, it has the third-largest economy among European cities after Paris and London, but the fastest in growth among the three, and is the wealthiest among European non-capital cities. Milan is considered part of the Blue Banana and one of the Four Motors for Europe.
The city has been recognized as the world's fashion and the design capital thanks to several international events and fairs, including Milan Fashion Week and the Milan Furniture Fair, which are currently among the world's biggest in terms of revenue, visitors and growth. It hosted the Universal Exposition in 1906 and 2015. The city hosts numerous cultural institutions, academies and universities, with 11% of the national total enrolled students. Milan is the destination of 8 million overseas visitors every year, attracted by its museums and art galleries that boast some of the most important collections in the world, including major works by Leonardo da Vinci. The city is served by a large number of luxury hotels and is the fifth-most starred in the world by Michelin Guide. The city is home to two of Europe's most successful football teams, A.C. Milan and F.C. Internazionale, and one of Italy's main basketball teams, Olimpia Milano.

Music of Italy
The music of Italy ranges across a broad spectrum of opera and instrumental classical music and a body of popular music drawn from both native and imported sources. Music has traditionally been one of the cultural markers of Italian national and ethnic identity and holds an important position in society and in politics. Italian innovation in musical scales, harmony, notation, and theatre enabled the development of opera in the late 16th century, and much of modern European classical music, such as the symphony and concerto.
Instrumental and vocal classical music is an iconic part of Italian identity, spanning experimental art music and international fusions to symphonic music and opera. Opera is integral to Italian musical culture, and has become a major segment of popular music. The Neapolitan song, canzone Napoletana, and the cantautori singer-songwriter traditions are also popular domestic styles that form an important part of the Italian music industry, alongside imported genres like jazz, rock and hip hop. Italian folk music is an important part of the country's musical heritage, and spans a diverse array of regional styles, instruments and dances.
