Government Mineral Springs Guard Station Gifford Pinchot National Forest
The guard station is part of the Government Mineral Springs campground that includes the Iron Mike mineral well and public hand pump.
Near Carson, Washington, the Wind River, and within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
Don't forget that you'll need a forest pass in the Gifford Pinchot National forest because the government needs your money more than you do....
P.S. if you leave the forest and you are in B.L.M. land, (Bureau of land management) you'll need a discover pass because the government needs your money more than you do......
P.S. If you park in the wrong place near the cabin you'll get a parking ticket. Didn't happen to me but others have found out the hard way.

Gifford Pinchot National Forest is a National Forest located in southern Washington, USA, managed by the United States Forest Service. With an area of 1.32 million acres (5300 km2), it extends 116 km along the western slopes of Cascade Range from Mount Rainier National Park to the Columbia River. The forest straddles the crest of the South Cascades of Washington State, spread out over broad, old growth forests, high mountain meadows, several glaciers, and numerous volcanic peaks. The forest's highest point is at 12,276 ft. at the top of Mount Adams, the second tallest volcano in the state after Rainier. It includes the 110,000-acre (450 km2) Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, established by Congress in 1982
Hiking Gifford Pinchot National Forest Spring 2019
I was able to get out and hike Gifford Pinchot National Forest early April 2019. This has been a temperate year and the weather held up in the mountains even though we had flooding in lower elevations.
This video gives you and idea of what the Gifford Pinchot National Forest looks like in early Spring.
Hiking in the mountains in the Pacific Northwest also brings with it a high level of caution as the weather is unpredictable and the environment can turn accidentally unforgiving. Early Spring in the mountains shows another side of the energy of Spring.
There is a lot of water in Spring, and the weather can change from temperate to snow on a dime. You have to make sure to prepare for everything, and the best way I know how to do that is with the appropriate clothing and being prepared.
For this hike, I brought my Royal Canadian boots because they are rated to -30 and are lined with real sheep skin. So, even though the weather was around 47 degrees, my feet never got hot or cold. They stayed temperate.
I also like Dale of Norway sweaters because their lighter ones are perfect for most weather out here. The other benefit is that I can wear them inside or out in the snow and my temperature is always the same. Great breathability. The heavier sweaters are way to warm for the PNW.
I brought an Artic Circle sweater, but they are made out of lambswool and pretty thick. Way to warm for this early spring.
The second day out, I switched from my Royal Canadian's to a pair of Danners and found, with wool socks, everything was the same.

Camping - Gifford Pinchot National Forest

Went for a couple day rides on my DRZ400s while camping this last weekend. I used to hunt/camp/fish at the end of this forest road when I was much younger.
Spending December in Washington. Free Camping in Leavenworth.
Made our way back to WA. We head up through the snow to see Santa in Leavenworth.

Cobar and I made it to the first falls know as Curtain Falls. This isn't Angel Falls like I thought it was. We weren't able to make it to Angel Falls due to the trail was blocked after the second switch back after the video ends.

We found a secret waterfall!
We found a waterfall called Panther Creek Falls in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This is one of Washington states many secret yet very beautiful waterfalls!
Panther Creek Falls is located beside a country road where there is no cell phone reception! There is a gravel parking area, with no markers, and a spray painted word “falls” with an arrow, is the only indicator that this thigh even exists!
Located about an hour and a half outside of Portland, Oregon, it is easily accessible and it’s a very short of a hike for one the best pay outs in overlooks, especially since the Eagle Creek fire has closed many of the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge.
Make sure to visit the area, and share this video with anybody wanting to go to that area, or looking for a place to hike!
