Traveling the East coast!
love the east... it is so different from the western part of canada, and all we could feel was love for our nation. here are some clips of our long road trip! enjoy!
130727 UP at Radium, CO
After a sandwich in K-Town (Kremmling, CO), I headed south again to the Trough Road which finally overlooks the mouth of Gore Canyon which the railroad uses. I made a detour to Radium and found out where the rafters take out. A train was waiting. As I was there, Amtrak rounded the bend; I hurried to get my camera up to video it and had a wonderful image and pan--only to discover I was on the wrong button and got bumpkus.
A UP rail train was waiting in the hole; it was clear to head east. I made my video of it. Interesting how fast an empty train can start up.

Water is Life Walk ~ Cheyenne River
July 26th ~ August 25th 2014
Cheyenne River is approximately 295 miles long and drains an area of 24,240 square miles. A tributary of the Missouri River flows through Wyoming and South Dakota.
Headwaters are from the confluence of Antelope and Dry Fork creeks, in Wyoming in the Thunder Basin National Grassland. Flowing east into South Dakota it skirts the southern end of the Black Hills, passing through Angostura Reservoir.
From there it flows northeast, past the Buffalo Gap National Grassland, and along the northwestern boundary of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Badlands National Park. Joined by Rapid Creek, it continues north where it is joined by the Belle Fourche River. Flowing East North East along the southern boundary of the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. It forms an arm of Lake Oahe (man-made lake created by Oshe dam) that then joins the Missiouri river

2007 V3 Hike-O-Ree
The Crew goes to their first Hike-O-Ree. Located at the local 4-H center in Front Royal.
Started in 1990, the Hike-O-Ree has become more popular with local and out of state Boy/Girl Scout Troops and Venture Crews. It is aimed towards encouraging crews and troops to go to places like Philmont, as well as preparing those who plan to go, but crews and troops that aren't are more than welcome to participate.
This was the 18th Annual Hike-O-Ree and we had a blast. Though being our first time to participate we didn't realize it was supposed to be a backpacking style of camp. We made the mistake of bringing a pop-up canopy, fold out chairs, and fold out tables.
We hiked Piney Ridge Trail(9.4 miles) on the AT. It was freezing at the start of our hike, but as the day progressed it got warmer.
At the end of our video you'll see one of our crew members put on a performance. He lip syncs Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen as we exit the 4-H center and head back home in the Tahoe. It is the last thing in the video so if it doesn't amuse you then feel free to stop watching. Though we did have to cut it short because it is rather lengthy and if you have the burning desire to see the whole thing then just click here:

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Chattanooga is a city located along the Tennessee River near the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Tennessee. With an estimated population of 179,139 in 2017, it is the fourth-largest city in Tennessee and one of the two principal cities of East Tennessee, along with Knoxville. Served by multiple railroads and Interstate highways, Chattanooga is a transit hub. Chattanooga lies 118 miles (190 km) northwest of Atlanta, Georgia, 112 miles (180 km) southwest of Knoxville, Tennessee, 134 miles (216 km) southeast of Nashville, Tennessee, 102 miles (164 km) northeast of Huntsville, Alabama, and 147 miles (237 km) northeast of Birmingham, Alabama.
The city, with a downtown elevation of approximately 680 feet (210 m), lies at the transition between the ridge-and-valley portion of the Appalachian Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau. Surrounded by mountains and ridges, the official nickname for Chattanooga is Scenic City, reinforced by the city's reputation for outdoor activities. Unofficial nicknames include River City, Chatt, Nooga, Chattown, and Gig City, referencing Chattanooga's claims that it has the fastest internet service in the Western Hemisphere.Chattanooga is internationally known for the 1941 song Chattanooga Choo Choo by Glenn Miller and his orchestra. Chattanooga is home to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and Chattanooga State Community College.
The city has its own typeface, Chatype, which was launched in August 2012. According to the Nooga.com website, this marks the first time that an American city has its own custom-made typeface and also the first time a crowd-funded custom-made typeface has been used for any municipality in the world.
The Great Gildersleeve: Craig's Birthday Party / Peavey Goes Missing / Teacher Problems
Aiding and abetting the periodically frantic life in the Gildersleeve home was family cook and housekeeper Birdie Lee Coggins (Lillian Randolph). Although in the first season, under writer Levinson, Birdie was often portrayed as saliently less than bright, she slowly developed as the real brains and caretaker of the household under writers John Whedon, Sam Moore and Andy White. In many of the later episodes Gildersleeve has to acknowledge Birdie's commonsense approach to some of his predicaments. By the early 1950s, Birdie was heavily depended on by the rest of the family in fulfilling many of the functions of the household matriarch, whether it be giving sound advice to an adolescent Leroy or tending Marjorie's children.
By the late 1940s, Marjorie slowly matures to a young woman of marrying age. During the 9th season (September 1949-June 1950) Marjorie meets and marries (May 10) Walter Bronco Thompson (Richard Crenna), star football player at the local college. The event was popular enough that Look devoted five pages in its May 23, 1950 issue to the wedding. After living in the same household for a few years with their twin babies Ronnie and Linda, the newlyweds move next door to keep the expanding Gildersleeve clan close together.
Leroy, aged 10--11 during most of the 1940s, is the all-American boy who grudgingly practices his piano lessons, gets bad report cards, fights with his friends and cannot remember to not slam the door. Although he is loyal to his Uncle Mort, he is always the first to deflate his ego with a well-placed Ha!!! or What a character! Beginning in the Spring of 1949, he finds himself in junior high and is at last allowed to grow up, establishing relationships with the girls in the Bullard home across the street. From an awkward adolescent who hangs his head, kicks the ground and giggles whenever Brenda Knickerbocker comes near, he transforms himself overnight (November 28, 1951) into a more mature young man when Babs Winthrop (both girls played by Barbara Whiting) approaches him about studying together. From then on, he branches out with interests in driving, playing the drums and dreaming of a musical career.
