It is a place that serves as a stark reminder of the brutal punishments we inflicted on people in insane asylums that we deemed to be mentally ill often times without just diagnosis or cause.

We take a trip to one of my favorite museums. This museum is in part of the old lunatic asylum in St Joseph Missouri. It is an amazing history lesson on mental health care. The video starts with a video that the museum plays for you before you start the tour. From there i give a tour through my favorite parts of the museum. All the information I talk about in this video was taken from my many trips to the Glore museum. If i got something wrong please forgive me. The Glore Psychiatric Museum
Deemed one of the 50 most unusual museums in the U.S., the Glore Psychiatric Museum is located in the old State Hospital No. 2 in St. Joseph, MO. I visited the museum this past week to view its exhibits and preview an art exhibition by the late Kansas City artist Arthur Kraft which opens Jan. 16. Kraft received treatment at the hospital in 1971, and wrote a book about his experiences and fellow patients, which includes artwork related to his patient visit.
