Santa Barbara Wine Tours
Eric from SantaBarbaraWineTours.org talks about the Santa Barbara Wine Country, what kind of wines are made there and a couple of his favorite wineries that the wine tourist can visit to imbibe some truly delicious California wine.
Santa Barbara is a perfect place for wine tasting tours for a bunch of reasons. For one thing, it boasts a host of wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms serving up top quality wines made from in a diversity of styles from an array of grape varieties.
As for geographical diversity, you can choose from four AVAs, or designated wine appellations, for your Santa Barbara wine tours: Santa Ynez Valley, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley, in the beautiful Santa Ynez Mountains of Santa Barbara County. These AVAs are home to over 100 wineries, many of which produce world-class wines. In fact, two wines produced in Santa Barbara County were included in Wine Spectator's top 100 wines of 2010: Tensley's Syrah Santa Barbara County, Colson Canyon Vineyard 2008, at no. 17; and Zaca Mesa's Syrah, Santa Ynez Valley 2006, at no. 29.
Just to clarify, that's no. 17 and no. 29, not just in California or America, but in the world (California in general did very well this year with fourteen of the top twenty, and four of the top five wines being from the Golden State). As this result makes clear, some of the world's best Syrah is made in the Santa Barbara Wine Country, one more reason that Santa Barbara wine tours are well worth your while. The region is also renowned for its other Rhone varietals including Grenache, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne and Mourvedre.
Two other varietals that Santa Barbara wineries excel in are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These cool climate, Burgundian varietals do especially well in the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley appellations, both excellent locations for Santa Barbara wine tours. The east-west orientation of the mountains surrounding these AVAs allow cooling fogs to roll in from the Pacific Ocean during the morning, and later in the day, on-shore breezes keep things cool. This maritime influence combined with the area's terrain -- which is located on the oceanic Pacific Plate rather than the continental North American Plate -- and soils favored by the Burgundian varietals, have allowed the wine makers of these two appellations to achieve stunning successes with both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Their Pinot Noirs have received more than their fair share of accolades. In fact, some Santa Barbara wine tours are focused solely on visiting wineries that excel in producing stunning wines from this popular grape variety, and speaking of California Pinot Noir in general, 2007 was a fabulous year for this famously difficult to grow and vinify fruit; the best year ever, in fact, according to California Wine author James Laube, who writes in the September 2009 issue of Wine Spectator that, The breadth and depth of quality in 2007 California Pinot Noir is unparalleled...2007, offering the greatest assortment of outstanding wines in the 25 years I've been tasting and writing about Golden State Pinot. A number of Sta. Rita Hills wines are featured among his picks for the top Pinots of 2007.
Santa Barbara wine tours have much to offer. First and foremost, an incredible number and variety of fantastic wineries and vineyards to visit including: the beautiful Curtis Winery, the environmentally conscious Sunstone Vinyards and Winery, the unassuming Kalrya Winery, the stately Bridlewood Estate Winery, the quaint Brander Vineyard, the elegant Gainey Vineyard, the cozy Buttonwood Farms Winery, the bucolic Beckman Vineyards, the rustic Foxen Winery, the colorful Blackjack Ranch Vineyards and Winery, and the grand Fess Parker Winery. Besides the wineries, Santa Barbara wine tours let you enjoy golden Southern California sunshine, sweeping, bucolic vistas, fine restaurants and friendly people when you embark on your own Santa Barbara wine tour.
One of the best ways to do that is by limousine. Click on the link for info on renting your own Santa Barbara wine tours limo.

USA: CALIFORNIA: FRANK SINATRA BURIED IN PALM SPRINGS (2)
English/Nat
One of entertainment's greatest sons, Frank Sinatra, has arrived at his final resting place at a Palm Springs cemetery on Wednesday.
About 4 (h) hundred close family, friends and former colleagues had earlier joined in a moving private funeral service which celebrated his life of show business.
Sinatra died last Thursday of heart failure aged 82.
Hollywood's brightest stars, including many of the old guard, joined 4 (h) hundred family and friends to bid farewell to the king of show business.
They packed the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Beverly Hills to remember and celebrate the life of Frank Sinatra.
Many were overcome with grief.
They watched in silence as Sinatra's elaborate casket blanketed with gardenias, his favourite flowers, was carried out of the church.
Earlier, during the touching two hour service, Sinatra was remembered as a 'reckless, rogue, sentimental fella,' who graced the world with his talent.
Some of the guests wept as they listened to a recording of Sinatra's 'Put Your Dreams Away'.
After the ceremony, Sinatra's casket was carried out of the church to a hearse, amid the din of four media helicopters hovering overhead.
Outside the church thousands of fans lined the streets to get a glimpse of Sinatra's casket.
One fan said she felt at peace knowing that Sinatra lives on through his music and in their memories.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
But inside my heart I felt happy because he will always live on in my heart.

Frank Sinatra was revered as being one of a kind, a unique and popular entertainer.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
He was a great one of kind type of entertainer, that you probably won't see again, certainly won't see again in the twentieth century.
SUPER CAPTION: Vox Pop, Sinatra fan
Immediately after the funeral service, Sinatra's widow, Barbara, his three children and other family members accompanied Sinatra's casket to his final resting place.
With the news helicopters following, the hearse drove to Vans Nuys airport, where the casket was loaded on to a private jet that flew with the immediate family to the desert town of Palm Springs some 110 miles east.
In a small, private burial service he was laid to rest at a family plot in the Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
He was buried alongside his mother, Natalie Dolly Sinatra, and father, Anthony Martin Sinatra.
Sinatra died of heart failure last Thursday ending a 60-year career on the stage and screen.
He was 82.

Inspiration Point Hike
Santa Barbara, CA
June 12th, 2010
In Memory of Mr. Frank King Kelly (1914 - 2010).
Look at one another. Listen to one another. Touch one another. Become aware of what marvelous beings you are. You are far more involved in shaping the future than you have begun to realize...
I noted that women were often subjected to physical injuries by men, but rarely engaged in violent acts themselves. I had always been grateful for the kindness of women, for their tenderness and nurturing affections for their parents, their sisters and brothers, their lovers and husbands, their children and their friends...
As we become what we were intended to be, we will act upon our understanding of the fact that what we think and what we do will have repercussions through the whole future...
We are glorious beings, but we will become more glorious as we unite ourselves with the flood of creativity pouring through the universes around us. We will grow UP forever - UP and UP, higher and higher,
said Mr. Frank K. Kelly at his Annual Lecture on Humanity's Future: Glorious Beings: What We Are and What We May Become in Santa Barbara, CA in February, 2001.
Mr. Frank K. Kelly passed away on June 11th, 2010 at the age of 95 just one day before his 96th birthday. He was a reporter for the Kansas City Star, a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, a soldier in WWII, a speech writer for Harry Truman, assistant to Senate Majority Leader, vice president of Center for Study of Democratic Institutions, and a founder and senior vice president of Nuclear Age Peace Foundation.
Two Announcements:
1). For those who were members of Mr. Frank K. Kelly's Friday Night discussion group. There will be the last Friday Night Discussion Group at his house (7:30-9:30pm) on Friday, June 25th to honor, to remember, and to celebrate his life. His legacy will live on.
2). Memorial service for Mr. Frank K. Kelly at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara from 4pm on Friday, July 16th.
Inspiration Point
The hike starts at Tunnel Trail or Jesusita Trail. I hiked from Tunnel Trail. This hike is a relatively moderate hike, especially if you are in good condition. One thing to consider with hiking in Santa Barbara is that the area is not flat. It's all mountains! So an easy hike is one where parts of the hike at least aren't too difficult for the average person, and usually that part is at the beginning so that if it does get too hard you can turn around.
The trail begins on a paved access road that the Edison Company uses. This road is a popular exercise spot for many active Santa Barbarans. You can see people getting their morning and evening workouts running, biking, walking the dog, and taking the kids for a walk year round. The road is about a mile long, which is perfect for a quick workout. The trail begins near the end of the pavement and is wide and maintained. The trail climbs through shady chaparral to a small summit which is another Edison access road, dirt this time. The summit is indistinct, except for the fact that when you reach it you have a beautiful view of the city, the ocean and the Channel Islands. This view makes this a popular sunset hike. The hike is about 3.5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of about 800 ft.
We live on this beautiful planet, Mother Earth, breathe the same air, and drink the same water. We are all brothers and sisters and members of the human family.
Life is a precious gift to enjoy, celebrate, and appreciate! Life is a choice, and we need to choose to be happy! We make things happen by wishing them! Ask, Believe, then Receive! Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated! Thank you!
I appreciate the people who can respect our differences and can treat others with respect, gratitude, good manner and positive attitude! Thank you for reading this note, and thank you for choosing to watch my video! Have a wonderful day to you all!

State legislators will have the final say in charging a public toll for the public street. If everything passes, the fee could be in place by summer 2020. Andrea Nakano reports. (1-23-2019)
We don't have a lot of time on this earth
We don't have a lot of time on this earth. We weren't meant to spend it this way. Human beings were not meant to sit in little cubicles staring at computer screens all day, filling out useless forms and listening to eight different bosses drone on about mission statements.

The program features include time schedules, setpoints, controllers, logic, timers, trend logs, and alarms. The unit controllers typically have analog and digital inputs that allow measurement of the variable (temperature, humidity, or pressure) and analog and digital outputs for control of the transport medium (hot/cold water and/or steam). Digital inputs are typically (dry) contacts from a control device, and analog inputs are typically a voltage or current measurement from a variable (temperature, humidity, velocity, or pressure) sensing device.
