???? Museum of Soviet ARCADE MACHINES (Budget Travel Russia) {St. Petersburg, RUSSIA}
Budget Travel Russia #13
Vintage Soviet arcade machines are no longer relegated to the relics of forgotten electronics. Tucked away from the main sights along Nevsky Street in St. Petersburg, a converted warehouse contains refurbished arcade games honoring USSR technology.
Dozens of vintage Soviet arcade machines are on display at which to be admired, gawked and yes, played in this interactive museum. While it is said the technology of the USSR was always behind the West, and these games would be a prime example, these video games, pinballs and tabletop sports still display a level of technological sophistication that made them fun to play decades ago and even more enjoyable today with their nostalgia.
Matt captures some of the Museum's exuberance and even tries his hand at pulling the Giant Turnip. You have to be there to get it.

In the heart of the historical center of Moscow, in a hundred and fifty meters from the Kremlin, at Fish Lane, 3, is located three-story building of the New Gostiny Dvor. It stands across the street from all the famous Old Gostiny Dvor, leading its history from the XIV century. Dvor first appeared in Moscow in the early XVI century, the so-called Elias sacrum - the intersection of Ilyinka and Fish Alley. During the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the wooden building was replaced Gostiny Dvor stone. Despite this, often the case in those days, the fire of Moscow was not spared and is a stone structure, which burned down in the Time of Troubles. Restored it already in the first reign of the Romanov tsar, Mikhail Fedorovich. Immediately after the reconstruction, started construction of the new building, which was called the New decorations. Its construction ended in the years 1661-1664 is under Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. Its present form Old Dvor acquired by order of Empress Catherine the Great, who ordered to build a new building within a large block of irregular shape. Construction began in 1789 and was completed only by 1830. That building is the Old Gostiny Dvor served as a model for the construction of arcades and other cities. And in the period, presumably from 1838 to 1840, next to him was erected new Dvor. Moscow Merchant Society, due to shortage of retail space in the old guest court, an Order for the construction of additional places to trade. As a result, on the site of the old fish Series appeared three-story building, with the length of the street facade, located on the ground floor is quite high. Side facades of the Old and New Seating yard run in parallel and placed opposite each other along the Fish Alley. The building, built in the late classicism, however, carried a lot of the qualities inherent in the golden age of Empire. It had a loft and basement, and the walls of the ground floor rusticated, unlike the smooth facade of the second and third floors. The main facade of the building is divided by three recessed projection in the facade of Ionic portico, between which the expressive reliefs. Solemn character building high windows give a solemn ceremonial floor framing, and the completion of the center in the form of a dome. As a result of partial adjustment made in 1890, the main facade of the New Gostiny Dvor was breached extra windows and doors, as well as arranged's Palace, which, in combination significantly disrupted the original classical symmetry., designed by the Italian architect Giacomo Quarenghi in XVIII century and located 150 meters from Red Square - one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of the capital. After the reconstruction of the Dvor has become a modern business, cultural and shopping center with international standards. From the windows of office business center overlooks the towers of the Kremlin. The complex area Dvor 84 sq. m

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
