Monument Valley Guided Tour // Road Trip 2019
Planning a trip to Monument Valley? Wondering if the guided tours are worth it? Click here to find out!
Monument Valley is a Navajo Reserve that essentially functions as a National Park. It's located not far from the 'four corners' of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. We added to our itinerary after seeing the 'big 5' National Parks in Utah (Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands), because we absolutely fell in LOVE with Utah and the red rocks.
We booked a guided tour from 4:30 - 7:30 pm, which included dinner. Special thanks for Simpson Trailhandler Tours! You can book the same or similar tours here:
There are a bunch of trails that are marked as 'guided tours only', so we would definitely recommend it. The tour guides are Navajo, and speak with great passion and enthusiasm. We learned about the customs, dance, and food of the Navajo. We even saw some 1000+ year old petroglyphs, carved by a tribe of Navajo that averaged 5 feet tall.
We learned a lot, and in the end, we would ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND the guided tours in Monument Valley.

Gouldings Campground - Monument Valley UT
A cute campground tucked towards the back of the Gouldings extensive Monument Valley property. Very nice ameneties, including a full sized grocery store back towards the hotel which save our butts when I forgot to thaw anything out for dinner and didnt have the microwave since it was a dry site! Campground itself had a small grocery/supply store - the wind got the best of me as it always does in MV - so I will explain what got drowned out. Grocery/checkin plus bathrooms plus pool plus inside showers building. Those showers close when store does, so they built an 'extra' shower building for after hours. Nice. Also, I said no fire rings, but on our way out in the morn, I did notice a few sites actually have them.

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, $70 per person tour! Worth it?
This episode is about our travel with our daughter to the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. We stayed at the Monument Valley KOA and enjoyed it. The tour is kid friendly but doesn't allow you to take your pets, for good reason. You'll need to be in reasonably good shape to enjoy this tour, as the roads are bumpy.
