Grayton Beach consistently ranks among the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the United States. The beach provides an idyllic setting for swimming, sunbathing and surf fishing and is the backdrop for golden sunrises and silver moonlit evenings. The nearly 2,000-acre park features a boat ramp that provides access to the lake's brackish waters for both freshwater and saltwater fishing.
Visitors can paddle a canoe or kayak on scenic Western Lake to get a closer look at a salt marsh ecosystem. A nature trail winds through a coastal forest where scrub oaks and magnolias stand, bent and twisted by the salt winds. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy more than four miles of trails throughout the pine flatwoods. Options for overnight stays include modern cabins and a full-facility campground.

A Video Tour of Grayton Beach, Florida in South Walton
Grayton Beach, Florida was the first community established in South Walton, sometime in the late 19th century. If you walk down one of Grayton Beach's oyster-shell roads, you get the feeling things don't change very fast here.
Pine and oak trees surround the natural, old wooden cottages. Here and ther larger and more modern house tower over the old shotgun shacks. Grayton Beach celebrated its 110th anniversary July 4th, 2000 has been able to maintain the cozy character with narrow tree-lined streets and friendly people with funky art galleries, antique and specialty shops, a general store, and the infamous Red Bar.

Grayton State Park Beach/Cabins- Santa Rosa Beach Florida
Grayton State Park, the beach is a jog away or you can also drive there if you prefer. The beach in the cabin area is almost private, not as many people there compared to the public access beach in the park itself. The cabins are very cozy and 6 sleep comfortable but only one restroom. When you check in they will give you an access code for the gate which allows easy access after closing hours. We loved it and will definitely be returning soon. By the way, the background music was added when I created the video, not playing during the actual filming.
A Day on Grayton Beach.
Carole and I spent a day hiking a few trails and relaxing on the beach at Grayton Beach State Park on the Gulf of Mexico.

Grayton Beach State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida #statepark
A quick 5 minute clip at Grayton Beach State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. From the little bit of time I was there, it wasn’t a bad state park. I must have went at the wrong time because there were a ton of flies biting on the beach.
I checked out the campground while there and it looked nice. The lots seemed to be decent in size for larger RV’s.

Discover the Gulf front community of Grayton Beach, FL
Grayton Beach, Florida has lured visitors for centuries with its beauty and tranquility.
The beaches here are pristine and full of activity. Because large parts of the beach are preserved as state park, you will find towering sand dunes bordering the waters of Western Lake and the Gulf of Mexico. And because Grayton Beach is one of two beaches in South Walton where driving on the beach is allowed by permit, it is common to tailgate with groups of friends in between casting a fishing line into the Gulf or cooling off in the shallow waters of the lake.
Once you are in town, slow down, explore the streets of Grayton by bicycle and indulge in a sunset that you will not soon forget. Grayton Beach is special and just a tad weird — and that is exactly how the locals like it.
Tourists and locals love the relaxed attitude of Grayton Beach. It’s the type of place where neighbors hand out “Grayton Beach: Nice Dogs, Strange People” bumper stickers, locals stop by the corner coffee shop for hugs and 'how's it going?'
Grayton Beach State Park and the Point Washington State Forest border the small town, which means you might just spot a roving bear, deer or wild boar as the sun begins to rise.
Determined beach-goers used to travel to Grayton Florida’s white sands by horse and buggy. While travel to Grayton Beach, Fl. is much quicker now, the towering sand dunes and sweet tea-colored waters of its coastal dune lakes remain as pristine and breathtaking as the Grayton Beach of years ago.

Pickles, Seaside Florida and Grayton Beach State Park
Our adventure today took us to Seaside Florida where we checked out Pickles! On the way there, we stopped and explored Grayton Beach State Park. Both places are on the Florida Scenic Highway 30A which has become one of the top beach-going destinations in Florida!
The State Park is amazing, and on this day we went, the beach was perfect! Be sure to watch the video where I did my best to take video of the water, but as I stated in the video, the camera just does not do it justice, you have to see it in real life!!! In addition to the beautiful pristine beaches, the state park also has some amazing trails where the local floral intermingles with sand dunes and inshore lakes to form amazing scenery that you have to check out while you are there! Be prepared to get sand in your shoes!!! The beaches here are patrolled and alcohol is prohibited on the beach so this makes a perfect location for families who are wanting to keep everything rated G! Although Grayton Beach State Park provides great picnic areas and barbeque grills, one which was sending out some amazing aromas, we decided to head on down to Seaside to eat lunch at Pickles. If you are interested in learning more about Gayton Beach State Park below are some recommended websites.
A short drive to the East on 30A from Grayton Beach State Park you will come to the quaint little village of Seaside. Pickles is right of the road on the south east corner of the town and as you could imagine spots a large sign of a pickle! This is an open-air eatery that is designed to come in right off the beach and order your favorite short order type of lunch. The food here we found to be good but hard to really justify how expensive it was. I mean really expensive for the quality. You just have to remember you are in a resort location and just have to know things will be expensive. Although you are relatively close to normal prices if you have a vehicle so you will just have to make the decision based on the convenience of the restaurant. We did enjoy the atmosphere and the music! The restaurant has both under a roof and completely outdoor seating that is shaded by some very unique and picturesque trees. Please keep in mind if it is summer time, (aka tourist season) this place will be much more packed and waiting time and even seating may be extremely challenging.
Whether you decide to eat here or not, the area is definitely worth checking out. Whether it’s the beach you are interested in or some of the local shopping, Seaside is always fun and rarely disappoints. Always a fun place to spend the day!
Before you go, check out the video we made here at The Melt Down on 30A... Awesome grilled cheeses!!!
