Palazzo Paletta Verona an italian masterpiece 2015
PALAZZO PALETTA DAI PRE': ART AND HISTORY IN THE HEART OF VERONA
Palazzo Serpini Salvetti Paletta dai Prè: an Italian masterpiece that has us relive history through art: before our very eyes, the luminous soul of the 1700s presents itself in all its splendor.
The rooms on the first or noble floor of this magnificent historic palace, situated in the heart of Verona, were in fact decorated by several major artists of the 18th-century Veronese school of painting, including Pietro Antonio Rotari and Giambettino Cignaroli, who were among the school's founders.
Original interpreters of the Rococo example, they conquered the courts of half of Europe: Cignaroli worked for the rulers of Poland, Russia and Spain, while Rotari was blanketed with honors by the Russian Empress Catherine II (for the countless works he created in St. Petersburg).
The large canvas by Rotari confers solemnity and elegance on the palace, while Cignaroli's scenic fresco prepares one for the variety of painted architectures scattered throughout the rooms. These examples, surrounding a splendid mythological sky, make the grand living room particularly spectacular. They are the work of another master of 18th century Italian art: Giorgio Anselmi, who painted the refined ovals on the walls as well.
In the midst of this collection of great effect sits a room of delicate charm: the still lifes that decorate its walls are from the 1600s, and the oil painting on the ceiling dates from the beginning of the same century. ... The palace has ancient origins, still visible in its finely carved Renaissance front door, one of Verona's most beautiful. But the historical richness of Palazzo Paletta doesn't finish here: in the dining room, the figure of Vanity suspended in Anselmi's misty sky is an 18th-century jewel set in a precious ceiling of false panels painted in the 1800s.
In front of this composition one has a strange impression: of movement and composure together, lightness and solidity; facing each other also are Rotari's very classical painting in contrast with the animated canvas of Carlo Salis: This is a beauty typical of Verona, made from the synthesis of opposites.
Situated in the Adige Valley, at the meeting point of the principal corridors of Europe, Verona has always been a crossroads for thousands of cultural currents, thus developing art forms able to blend the lessons learned from Classical style (inherited from the Roman era) with Northern European Medieval influences as well as inspiration from the Orient by way of nearby Venice.
The palace is located inside the narrow cove of the Adige River that hugs the historic center. It's only a few minutes from the Arena and Juliet's house, and many other monuments await discovery in the immediate vicinity as well, among the romantic side streets of the oldest part of Verona.
Easily reached from both the railway station and the airport, during the years 2007 through 2012 the palace was the object of a meticulous operation of conservation and restoration, which besides reviving the original luminosity of its frescoes, revealed, under a19th-century repainting, other earlier and very refined trompe l'oeil works.
A restoration which has confirmed the artistic and historic richness of a palace that is celebrating its rebirth after more than six centuries of life.

FM19 | BAGGIO | EP28 | FORZA AZZURRI | FOOTBALL MANAGER 2019 |
Welcome to Baggio a Football Manager 2019 series which started in Serie D at a club I created called Caldogno Calcio, Baggio's home town we secured three successive promotions to reach Serie A.
Caldogno had a fantastic youth system and despite the club having a good amount of money the president sold two of our hottest prospects so enough was enough and Baggio quit as manager leaving Caldogno Calcio 8th in Serie A.
So the series has turned into a Journeyman story with me (Baggio) trying to be successful as possible only managing clubs in Italy.
Only a month out of work and Baggio found himself now at Palermo who was routed to the bottom of the table 8 points from safety with 12 games to go.
After the great escape Baggio steered Palermo to a 10th and 11th place finish, Baggio has now taken control of his beloved Azzurri can he finally get his redemption and win the world cup.
If you are enjoying the series please drop a like in today's video and hit that subscribe button. Cheers Treq

Castle tour - Monte San Giovanni Campano MSGC - Saint Thomas of Aquinas Prison - Trip back Home
Castle tour of Monte San Giovanni Campano -Also the Prison of Saint Thomas of Aquinas.
Destination: Italy, ..Update: the musician with the initials on the piano and furniture was Maestro Pietro Mascagni......... From airport Leonardo da Vinci. Drive South 56 miles to my native town (MSGC) Monte San Giovanni Campano, it is a municipality of about 12,800 people, it is part of the province of Frosinone in the region Lazio. I lived just a few miles outside of town in a small suburb called La Lucca. Today we will tour the 11th-century fortress, its located at the highest point of the town Monte San Giovanni Campano. The area dates back to the last years of the Roman Empire and the original Castle was built to defend against Barbarians that kept coming in and out of the area. The castle is best known today as the place where Saint Thomas Aquinas was imprisoned by his family from 1240 to 1242 in an attempt to persuade him not to join the Dominican Order. It was also a summer residence of Pope Adrian IV starting in 1155, and where the poet Vittoria Colonna would retreat. On April 17th, 2004 Cardinal Ratzinger, Later Pope Benedict, visited the Castello where St Thomas was held and the Town of Monte San Giovanni Campano. The castle is distinguished by two towers, one quadrangular and the other is pentagonal. The pentagonal shape is very unusual in castles of this type. The towers are a good example of 11th century defensive architecture. Remaining walls are 3.5 meters thick, with two bartizans, double-width patrol walks, and communications passages within the walls. The rooms in which Thomas Aquinas had been held are at the base of the rectangular tower. These are remnants of a larger defensive structure that once included five towers and walls that entirely enclosed a ducal palace and supporting town. The palace was a home of the Conte D'Aquino at the time of his son's imprisonment. The castle town could hold more than a thousand defenders and had been for centuries one of the most efficient and impregnable fortresses of central Italy, famous for reputedly withstanding a siege of seven years. It could not, however, resist the gunpowder artillery that Charles VIII of France used during his conquest of the Kingdom of Naples in 1494. Monte San Giovanni, then a border fort of Naples, fell after eight hours of bombardment. The 700 inhabitants including women and children who were unable to escape were slaughtered by the French army of 25,000. Much of the town was destroyed in the attack of 1494. Only two of five main towers and two of the five palace buildings remain, along with three of the town gates. The rooms in which Thomas Aquinas had been held were saved and restored and the cell now holds a 16th-century Neapolitan triptych.

NAPOLI ULTRAS - BEST MOMENTS
NAPOLI ULTRAS - BEST MOMENTS
Napoli is the fourth most supported football club in Italy with around 13% of Italian football fans supporting the club. Like other top clubs in the country, Napoli's fanbase goes beyond the Italian border; it has been estimated by the club that there are around 6 million fans worldwide. Napoli is reputed to be one of the biggest clubs in Europe, with one of the highest average home attendance in Europe.
The Napoli fans have always had bad relations especially with the teams from the North of Italy. One of the first historical rivalries was with Hellas Verona, and later on in the second half of the 1980s rivalries with Inter Milan, Juventus and Milan were born, as Napoli defied the Triad of the North for the title of Champions of Italy. The hostility of the ultras of Napoli with the fans of Lazio comes from the old friendship that Napoli had in the 1980s with Roma fans, Napoli fans used to call Roma fans cousins, friendship then broke after the umbrella gesture of Salvatore Bagni of 25 October 1987, which spawned a very strong rivalry with the Roma fans. Also there still remain rivalries with Sampdoria, Reggina and also with the Atalanta, Avellino, Bari, Bologna, Brescia, Cagliari, Lecce, Salernitana, Vicenza and Udinese. Other minor rivalries exist with Foggia, Perugia, Pisa, Pistoiese and Ternana.
Unlike other Italian cities such as Genoa, Milan, Rome and Turin, Napoli is the only major football club in the city and therefore there is no derby in the strict sense of the term. Nevertheless, the fans of Napoli do co-star in two particular derbies in Italy against other regional teams:
Derby della Campania generally refers to a rivalry with regional clubs, mainly Avellino and Salernitana. However, both teams have largely played in the lower divisions and meetings are largely limited to the Coppa Italia. Derby of the Sun (also called Derby of the South), at the height of its popularity in the seventies and eighties, starring Napoli and Roma.
The twinning between supporters of the clubs Napoli and Genoa football club is one of the oldest in Italian football. It began on 16 May 1982 following a 2–2 draw in Naples between the two teams on the final day of the 1981–82 Serie A season, a result that allowed Genoa's escape from relegation and condemned Milan to relegation from Serie A to Serie B for the second time in its history. The history and friendship got even stronger for both teams when on the last day of the 2006–07 Serie B season, when both teams drew 0–0 draw at Genoa, ensuring both teams' promotion to Serie A. Genoa ultras could be seen holding up banners saying, Benvenuto fratello napoletano, meaning, Welcome, Neapolitan brother. The historic partnership between the two groups of supporters was also honoured and supported by marketing initiatives.
There is also a strong supporter friendship with Ancona and there are good relations with the fans of Catania and Borussia Dortmund.
A sympathy and good friendship was born with supporters of the Romanian football team Universitatea Craiova following the elimination of rivals Steaua București from the UEFA Europa League at the hands of Napoli. They have a long-standing friendship with the fans of Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Plovdiv; Napoli gave birth to the name Napoletani Ultras Plovdiv, which is how the friendship arose.

9. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Marco Sebastiani, 27, protester from L'Aquila:
'Yes we camp' is a denunciation. We are aspiring to the famous Obama campaign slogan 'Yes, we can.' We want for people to know that after three months from the earthquake, we are still living in tent camps and this fact has never happened with other earthquakes in the past. With this banner, we want the powerful people of the world to understand that things here in L'Aquila are not going well. We are not as happy as we appear on television.

STORYLINE
Demonstrators in L'Aquila erected a giant banner on a hill in front of the police school that is serving as the G8 summit venue on Wednesday, reading Yes we camp!.
The play on words on US President Barack Obama's Yes we can campaign slogan sought to remind leaders of the thousands of earthquake survivors living in makeshift tent camps since the devastating April 6 temblor, organisers said.
More than 50 locals and volunteers voiced their complaints.
The summit was originally set to be held on the Sardinian island of La Maddalena, but Berlusconi moved it to L'Aquila to draw attention to the population's plight.
The 6.3-magnitude earthquake levelled entire blocks in L'Aquila and the surrounding Abruzzo region, driving some 54,000 from their homes and killing 296 people.
Officials have prepared emergency airlifts of the world leaders in case another strong tremor hits.
Several demonstrations have been scheduled in Rome and L'Aquila during the three-day summit that opened Wednesday, as critics of the G-8 have also vowed to stage surprise protests across the country.
Also on Wednesday, dozens of activists from 18 countries occupied four coal-fired power plants across Italy, climbing smokestacks to hang banners calling on the Group of Eight summit to take the lead in fighting climate change, Greenpeace said.
Italian energy giant Enel, which owns three of the plants, said production had not been disrupted. Employees at two of the plants staged
counter-demonstrations and the union for Italy's energy workers condemned the protest.
Several other small-scale protests took place in Rome.
